The number crunchers over at dating site OKCupid put together a highly entertaining blog post showing the breakdown of interests people listed in their dating profiles. The results are FASCINATING.

We selected 526,000 OkCupid users at random and divided them into groups by their (self-stated) race. We then took all these people’s profile essays (280 million words in total!) and isolated the words and phrases that made each racial group’s essays statistically distinct from the others’.

Check out the full article to see the top professed interests of Black, Asian, Hispanic, Indian, Arabic, and Asian Pacific Islanders looking for love online. I say professed because aren’t we all on our best behavior when we’re on the hunt? Do white guys really love Phish or do they simply want to be seen as the kind of guy who likes Phish by prospective dating partners.

And what precisely does that represent culturally? Laid back? High? Unshaven? DISCUSS
