So do I. Well, I need.
thxbai².
I saw the t-shirt on amazon.com
Good, if it’s a teeshirt, I want it
I went to see a university the other day, it had a Tardis in the entrance hall. How cool is that?
What university maybe he was actually their.
Star Trek could possibly go in the centre as well…. “We are the Borg. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Resistance is futile”
Borg is more of a collective species than robots.
Lor
Daleks aren’t robots either, in fact Star Trek and Dr. Who should switch as Lor is a killer robot.
Cybermen are technically robots, as all biological characteristics are inhibited or removed and the brain is used solely as a processor.
By the original definition, both daleks and cybermen are robots, but now, neither are, as they are both living organisms encased in a metal body.
Actually, they were never true robots.
Data, B4, and Lore are all androids which are also robots. The Borg cann technically be robots also. But Star Trek is just beast like that!! LLAP
What about K9? He was in the old Doctor Who… but he had an appearance on “School Reunion” in this series. So there, a real robot.
But was he a *killer* robot? If not, he doesn’t count.
There are absolutely no killer robots in Doctor Who.
On a completely unrelated note, here is a list of Doctor Who episodes featuring killer robots:
The War Machines
The Dominators
The End of the World
The Caves of Androzani
Earthshock
The Android Invasion
The Androids of Tara
The Girl in the Fireplace
Warrior’s Gate
Voyage of the Damned
The Happiness Patrol
Pyramids of Mars
The Five Doctors
The Robots of Death
The Greatest Show in the Galaxy
The Christmas Invasion
The Runaway Bride
The Beast Below
The Abominable Snowmen
The Web of Fear
…among others, of course
The robots in The Beast Below didn’t actually kill anyone… just sent them plummeting to their doom.
Indirect killing, then.
I’m pretty sure you didn’t watch Doctor who..
how about the ciborgues ? (I know they have a “human brain” inside but they are pretty much robots)
Those are called Cybermen, and he said that it wasn’t a complete list…
Big deal
Ahem
Mud’s Women
* “Datalore” (Season One)
* “Brothers” (Season Four)
* “Descent” (Season Six)
* “Descent, Part II” (Season Seven)
Prototype
TOS: “What Are Little Girls Made Of?
Tin Man
Requiem for Methusela
I could go on
point is killer robots all, and actually while more prevalent than than on Trek they didn’t time travel that much
K-9 killed the Krillitanes. Fair do’s he had to but that makes him a killer robot. ((Also rocks the Sarah Jane adventures too!)
“Affirmeetive Masta!”
He could kill, with his shooty thing
K9 killed those weird creature things in “School Reunion” so he technically killed somthing
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Doctor_Who_robots
That link goes to a list of Doctor Who robots. Not all were killer robots but some were. Take the Host in Voyage of the Damned for example.
EX-TER-MIN-ATE!!!
Ctrl+F
“Borg”
…yep.
the borg arent really robots though…
Plus the title is a Fail. Picard was quite fond of tea (Earl Grey, Hot) if i recall correctly.
So was Sulu!!
I don’t think they meant the drinking-tea…I think they meant the eating-tea.
Win. 8D
When stuff gets over-pushed and over-hyped, it makes me want to stay far far away. So many of the ICHC sites aren’t doing Dr. Who any favors with respect to that.
And every time I hear “Tardis,” only “tard” sticks out.
You’re right, man! We have to stand up to those over-hyping non-conformists! Let’s ride our vintage bicycles over to their place of buisness and protest! I’ll bring some Pabst in case we get thirsty. Oh, and you might need to wear more than just an ironic t-shirt, since it might get cold.
Um, no. I’m not into Dr. Who, and it’s being pushed every time I turn around, and it’s annoying. Pretty simply, actually.
Fair enough, Mr Zappa. But I would ask you to watch one – any you choose really – so you can make your own mind about it rather than being influenced by fans.
I think “Blink” or “Silence in the Library” would be excellent episodes for a newbie?
Or even the other Weeping Angels episode, with the Eleventh Doctor.
You know, nice, calm, fricking creepy episodes.
Ooh, or “The Empty Child” & “The Doctor Dances”. Plus, I forgot “Forests of the Dead”. D:
Silence in the library has River. A bit too complicated for a first timer maybe… even though it’s my favorite episode EVER… and I mean of any tv show, not just DW. And Blink barely has any Doctor. Empty child=good idea, but my vote for best first episode is Girl in the Fireplace. That’s how we got my friend, who initially scorned the show, to repeal his initial declaration. And it’s a stand-alone episode. No major story-arc to complicate things and no cliff-hanger ending.
But I like cliff hangers! They keep ya guessing! ;D
New Earth would be good for newbies.
My first episode was The Unicorn and The Wasp. (If you don’t count the very ending of The Doctor’s Daughter — wouldn’t suggest that one to a newbie, though.)
Well, my friend convinced me to watch ‘Silence in the Library’ as my first episode. I was nine. I couldn’t sleep for ages, because the Vashta Nerada would get me!
You were nine and couldn’t sleep? I was -fourteen-. Mind you, Blink, Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone terrified me even more.
Blink is by far my favorite, but my first was The Shakespeare Code. Lots of pop-culture references for the literary nerd.
I’m pretty sure that Silence in the Library was the very first episode with River. And the first time the Doctor met her, since their timeline is running opposite eachother.
Star Trek has tons of killer robots! Especially the original series.
Star Trek’s Borgs are an emanation of Vogons from the Hitchhicker’s guide to the Galaxy…
…except Star Trek came first. ;D
You call those aborted R2D2s “killer” robots?
yes, yes we do. now shut it before they hear you and exterminate you.
Daleks are biological life forms essentail operating vehicles.
This makes me very happy
Information; Kill!
Yes yes yes! Those were definitely killer robots, nothing cyborg about them.
Indeed. I thought the Host were great villains, especially when they allied themselves with the “highest authority” at the end.
umm… stargate has all of these things. just sayin’.
Time Travel came very late in the show. I think it wasn’t even in the projects until they’ve got no more than to do that and King Arthur legends. For all of the remaining, I agree.
why is this un-faveable??
I know, where’s the fav button????
Yah? i just bookmarked the page
loves both Trek and Who
Don’t forget the Raston Warrior robot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmVuIWffmM4
Marry me, Doctor.
Sorry, Eleven’s already married to me. c:>
Does that mean 10 is available?
No. It most certainly does NOT. How else would I have become Queen?!?
Doctor Who, Star Trek, Stargate, yes. But I never cared for Battlestar Galactica.
But where is Bill and Ted?
Same place as Terminator (unless I’m forgetting something).
I’d say … the middle would be FUTURAMA
Futurama is nowhere near Doctor Who. And it will never be.
Nerd debate WOOT WOOT! fight fight fight!
How can you say Dr. Who is the only show with tea time?! How could you forget “Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.” ?!?!
