  1. Rai says:

And the very small invisible section that reads classic rock radio station.
    That’s where I reside.

  2. Ian says:

    You forgot Guitar Hero.

  3. wally says:

… what about rock band/guitar hero? haha

  4. Chris says:

Where’s the slice that says “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater”? Because I’m in that slice.

  5. darkandstormynight says:

Totally false. I’m 18 and I knew every Glee song before it was on Glee. Whoever made this graph is obviously the “OMG i <3 Justin Bieber" type and therefore unfamiliar with GOOD music.

    • Erin says:

I knew all of the Glee songs too because my parents played them. I’m just saying that the majority of the kids who watch Glee learn old music from there.

Oh, and I hate Justin Bieber. Check it before you wreck it.

      • gtnduivehsnkwc says:

So you are the maker of this graph? Where is the “Guitar Hero/Rock Band” option, then?

        • Erin says:

That could technically go under the “friends” slice. You usually are with another person while playing Guitar Hero, right? Correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t own the game.

          • OverFlash says:

Not necessarily. I tend to play Guitar Hero solo, because of the fact that my mum was a bit of a drifter of sorts making organising stuff with friends difficult for the first 16 years of my life (I’m 16 and a half now, so… yeah.). I generally play games solo, or not at all.

      • Blueshoe says:

People who like to watch Glee and call themselves “gleeks” are all just a bunch of stupid hipsters.

    • Nairu says:

I’m 18 too, and I listen to ‘old’ music (from the 50s to the 80s) but I don’t know what Glee is… (I’m from Spain…) I listen to this kind of music mostly because of my parents and my uncle.

  6. Ron says:

1.Anyone who doesn’t know those songs is an IDIOT, the whole point is the songs are quite popular.
    2. Glee is S**T (I just thought everyone should know that)

  7. Shipoopi says:

the 80′s were sooooooooooooo long ago

  8. should_be_doing_work says:

Just a shame that the stars of Glee don’t appear to have actually listened to the original songs before ruining them, if their performances are anything to go by.

Oh, and you missed out Professor Green (if I ever get my hands on him, he will pay for what he did to INXS’s “Need You Tonight”…)

  9. Laura says:

I’m 14, and I have friends who consider music that’s been around for more than two years to be oldies. It’s really quite sad…

    • ian says:

i definitely agree but the new songs you get tired of so quickly and they stay on the radio for 2-3 years so they just get old but young poeple like that are just finding out about old music you know so old for us (teenagers and kids) isnt the same for our parents and grand-parents you know?

      • teatime of death says:

        uhh no.

But Laura, I know what you talking about. Until I moved out of homeschooling, I didn’t know any modern (90′s-present) music. I’ve grown up with classic rock from the 60′s 70′s and 80′s. I hate when people are like, “The 60′s were soooo loong ago.” No they’re not, 41-50 years ago is not that old.

        • Laura says:

Thank you! I was told numerous times that I only listened to “oldies” during the school year. Why? Because I mentioned that I liked classic punk- as in, from the 70′s. There is still good modern music, just the majority of it isn’t popular.

  10. Jo says:

I think that’s great, to be honest. I’m not into modern music at all, so I listen to older music by default, but some people don’t have the sense to look into old music by themselves. The more things that broaden the horizon of my culturally limited generation the better, in my opinion.

  11. Siirenias says:

    What’s Glee?

*puts on ZZ Top’s La Grange*

  12. LongHairedAsshole says:

I’m in the small portion of Beavis and Butthead fans who saw reruns of them on MTV. I know, most of the music they had was from the 90s, but they had KISS, The Ramones, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Motorhead on there.

  13. Howl says:

But glee is the root of all evil.
And I don’t need a stupid show to ruin the music I’ve listened to since I was a kid with their prepubescent voices.

    • Crystallia says:

      *hi-fives.* Freakin PoS show.

‘Cept I didn’t listen to that music as a kid necessarily; my music taste just grew as I did.

Plus my Dad loves classic rock, and always played some on long trips.

  14. Wolf says:

Glee absolutely ruined dont stop believing. and it disgusts me that some people singing that song dont even know who journey is. i hate glee so much, and i want to strangle all those little idiots who sing these stupid pop choir songs.

    • Erin says:

The only reason I watch the show is for the storylines. The songs are terrible, especially Don’t Stop Believing.

    • Psilence says:

Yeah… I had that stuck in my head one day, and was kind of humming it, when someone said, “Oh, you watch Glee?”

It made me want to go on a rant about how Don’t Stop Believing existed before Glee… but I just said, “No,” and walked on.

  15. Xenon says:

To the maker of this graph: You really shouldn’t stereotype an entire generation based on your own narrow taste in music.

    • Erin says:

I’ve just noticed that most kids hear old music from the show, and I really didn’t mean every single child living in this generation does! I obviously know that kids can also hear old music somewhere beside Glee. My God people, it’s a graph! It’s supposed to be FUNNY!

    • Stefan says:

By this point, it ain’t exactly a stereotype. Have you conversed with some of these Glee-obsessed idiots?

Congratulations, Erin. You just captured the entire decade in one still image.

      • Xenon says:

I’m not arguing that a lot of my generation watches Glee, but there are also plenty of us who liked that music long before Glee came along and made it “popular” again.

  16. Bowler-Hats says:

I learn old songs from the Solid Gold Oldies station from Music Choice.

  17. AvinG says:

    You forgot Fallout 3.

  18. Icanhascheezburgernewbie says:

I don’t hate Glee because of the jokes, or the fanbase, or the auto-tuned musical numbers.. I hate Glee because of the fact that it’s bringing back a low point in music, 1980′s pop-rock.

  19. Philip says:

That ’70s show is soo last decade (2000-2009).

  20. Sirakou says:

This saddens me. A lot. I’m mean, I wasn’t around for most of the good music, but I picked it up from my parents. I’d say even Guitar Hero is better to learn of music from than Glee

  21. Sophie says:

Guys, you do know that by covering these songs, Glee is making a lot of money for the original bands?
In the UK both the original and the Glee version of “Don’t Stop Believing” were in the top 40 for a while when Glee first start. I’m pretty sure there are other examples too. So although I’m not a big fan of all the cheese that Glee put into the songs, I wouldn’t call it a bad thing that they’re doing it, because at least it get’s the songs out

P.S. Sue Sylvester is a LEDGE.

  23. BlindMango says:

WTF? Glee? No I would say probably from video games, who even watches Glee? lol.

  24. Ghosty says:

Gee. I’m 14, and I had never heard of a lot of music that was on Glee. Maybe a lot of older people know the music, but I am far more musically inclined after watching the first season of Glee. I’m more open to different generes of music, especially showtunes. I love showtunes. I hated them before I watched Glee, and now I love them, so, I thank Glee. <3

  25. LLD says:

Old? How old are we talking here?
I got most of my old-ass songs from the game Bioshock.

    Glee can suck it.

  26. Michelle says:

I actually like Glee, and thanks to it I found songs I had heard before but didn’t know their name/couldn’t remember the lyrics.

  27. Some1 says:

I really can’t stand glee, I love songs from the eighties, and i’m thirteen.

  28. Sukriti says:

    Nah, I completely resent this…
I’m 17 now, and I didn’t find good music (30-80s)through any of those… And Glee pretty much sucks…

  29. Shannon says:

You forgot about VH1 Classic. That’s where I learned about it when I was 15. I’ve never watched Glee and I never want to.

  30. AshTheMaster says:

    1.)Anyone who hates Glee=Conservative
    Conservative=Moron
    Anyone who hates Glee=Moron
2.)1989 and older:90% OLDIES(Old, Uncool and Crappy) 10% LEGENDS (Old and good, but still not beter than the 90′s)
1990-1999:90′s(Newer and better than the OLDIES, while being better than 2000′s)
    2000-2005:”Good” modern music
    2006-2009:90% Sh*t,10% Legend
    2010:Return of good music(Except Ke$ha and Bieber)
All you need to know about Pop Music, OLDIES, 90′s, Glee and the EVIL CONSERVATIVES(DESTROY THEM!).

    • Siirenias says:

      So it’s war ye want?!

(actually, come to think of it, a lot of my favorite “80′s bands” are just mature 70′s bands. All I remember being distinctly 80′s is things like MC Hammer. Even MJ was around before the 80′s, wasn’t he?*)

*I checked. He’s just barely before the 89′s so it counts. Also, his music rocked, even if he refined the concept of Uncle Creepy to a new level.

    • randomasshat says:

Did you know that Abraham Lincoln was a Conservatist?

And so was most of the anti-slavery activists.

So you are basically saying, that slavery is good.

See, I can use your own “logic” against you.

    • Supergirl says:

*facepalm* it makes me really sad that the one person actually bothering to defend glee has to do it in such an idiotic* manner, making other fans of the show look bad.

      1) politics have zero to do with this. they do not affect a person’s taste in music, or in television. for all you know, there could be plenty of conservatives who love glee, and liberals who hate it.

not to mention: expressing CAPSLOCKY HATE against any one group just makes you sound like a closed-minded moron.

      2) i think most people over 25 would disagree with you. and “oldies” =/= uncool, all it means is old. trying to pass off your own personal tastes as THE LAW on what’s cool is just stupid and pointless.

i hope people will not think that ALL glee fans are like this. :C

      —————————————————————–
      * i am not necessarily calling YOU an idiot (maybe you are and maybe you aren’t, i don’t know you). i am simply stating that your BEHAVIOR is idiotic.

  31. SanJecinto says:

    don’t forget FALLOUT 3!

  32. :P says:

    You forgot Guitar Hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. Medley says:

u forgot one important option; on their own (which is how i discovered it)
