True. I’m off the end of the scale now, and all I know about dinosaurs is that they were around a long time ago, but they were big and stupid, so they all died.
Exactly what I came in here to say. Pterodactyl was one of my son’s first words; he was 7 months and having his diaper changed when he pointed up at a poster and said “pterodactyl mummy!” After that I brushed up pretty quickly so I wouldn’t fall behind.
YOU GUYS ARE ALL STUPID. THE *DINOSAURS* DIED OUT BECAUSE AFTER THE FLOOD OF NOAH THE ATMOSPHERE CHANGED ALLOT AND CINCE THE WORLD IS ONLY SIX THOUSAND YEARS OLD. THE WORD *DINOSAUR* WAS MADE IN THE 18 HUNDREDS BEFORE THEN IT WAS CALLED DRAGONS AND SOME OF THEM EXIST STILL TODAY (EVER HEARD OF THE LAKENESS MONSTER.)
I agree. I knew like 78+ Dinosaurs when I was like, 6 and could spell them correctly. In fact, Dilpoducus was my first word. Now I barely know anything about them… except that they ate and died.
Unless you’re Ross Geller, that is.
Friends FTW!
Yeah, but compared to calvin…
My thoughts exactly.
This one’s sad
Does that decrease in general knowledge correlate with an increase in misspellings of “dinosaur” (specifically, in the y-axis label)?
I think it’s a requirement now that every graph on GraphJam must have a misspelling.
violence of dinosour increase
“Dinosairs”?
I love dinosairs with all my hirt
it accurately corresponds to the realization that most of the things you were taught about dinosaurs when you were a child have now been disproven
It’s still a triceratops, and I know more about dinosaurs than I did as a child, As does Bill Waterson apparently.
A sad but true fact of our society.
This is certainly true for me. I’ve been trying to update my knowledge, but I’m noticing a lack of dinosaur books for grownups.
True.
I *do* know that they weren’t around at any point that humans existed.
Do YOU know that, Sarah Palin? DO YOU?
You betcha.
True. I’m off the end of the scale now, and all I know about dinosaurs is that they were around a long time ago, but they were big and stupid, so they all died.
Very true- but there should be a spike for when you become the parent of a five year old.
Parents on my internet? BLASPHEMY

This is the story of my life.
*cries in the emo corner*
Well, there are the Sharp-tooths, and the Long-necks, and the Three-horns…
There are no three-horns! Scientists have proven that Cera never existed!
Not so! Torosaurus is the mature form of Triceratops, so Cera existed, but her cranky dad didn’t.
But- But! He was my favorite!

is this a jurassic 5 reference
My dinosairs murdered all the dinosaurs. This is why we don’t know much about them.
THEY BE DIEING.
Ironically, the same graph is true for the number of dinosaurs that still “exist” as you get older. Heh. Funny how extinct animals can still die out.

You mean “loche ness”?
Troll.
Loch ness. And I belive that point was stated in “Reasons to prevent Gay marrige”. Idiot Troll
If you’re joking, you should state it explicitly. You know there are cretinists out there who sound just as crazy as this and are dead serious.
Damn you Lakeness monster.!
This graph applies to me not
True
Agh. So true. When I was a kid I knew about 50 types of dinosaurs and could name them off the top of my head. Now All I know is they go rawr.
I agree. I knew like 78+ Dinosaurs when I was like, 6 and could spell them correctly. In fact, Dilpoducus was my first word. Now I barely know anything about them… except that they ate and died.
So the triceratops is the one with the… uh… um… the cold blood!
