  1. ItsShinyTime says:

Back in my day, we didn’t even have no fancy fangled pencil sharpeners. If you wanted a sharp point, you grabbed your knife and carved it yourself! Kids these days, don’t appreciate nuttin…

  2. jp says:

Those big grinding ones they had by the door in classrooms are completely worthless. The electric ones aren’t much better.

The ones that are about an inch long that you could keep in your own pencil box, though, would actually get the job done… eventually. As an added bonus you could dump out the shavings into the backpacks of kids you didn’t like!

    • Jefoid says:

I disagree. Try buying a pencil sharpener today. None of them work! I remember the one on the wall in elementary school (circa 1975) working pretty well.

    • Chass says:

Actually, I got sick of the little plastic ones breaking my pencil leads, and worse, the bit of lead getting jammed down into the end of the sharpener, so I just bought an electric sharpener, and it’s done me perfect for years. It also helps to not buy the cheap pencils made from sawdust and glue. Real wood is where it’s at.

  3. A says:

…Hmm, I’ve never really had much problem with sharpening a pencil myself. You just have to be smarter than the sharpener.

  4. asdf says:

That’s what happens when you buy crappy pencil sharpeners.

  5. MINEAK says:

if it falled once it will always break

  6. Schnuppe says:

This is why you should, once you’ve found one, carry a good pencil sharpener like a treasure.

  7. Muzition says:

This is why I always use mechanical pencils.

  8. King Graphjam says:

In my school, no matter what your setup is, there is almost always one perfect public pencil sharpener. Maybe two if you’re really lucky. They’re most common in the art rooms. The objective of my first few days, rather than learn everyone’s name, is to find out where the good pencil sharpeners are.

  9. cmader says:

Belt or disc sanders make the best pencil sharpeners. Works great in the shop but probably not so well in a school/office environment.

  10. Forest.Elf says:

Usually there’s nothing wrong with the pencil sharpeners (unless they don’t do anything when you try to sharpen your pencil) but with you. Sounds a bit harsh, but when you drop your pencil, even if you drop it just once, the brittle inside will break. Therefore every time you sharpen your pencil the tip will break.

  11. THE GAME says:

thats what happens when cheap pencils are used. MIRADOS FTW
