Well they’re all made by Henson.

    • Jon says:

Sesame Street Muppets are still Muppets.

Kermit is the only Muppet who appeared regularly on both Sesame Street AND The Muppet Show.

There were also a whole other group of Muppets who were on the first season of Saturday Night Live (1976?).

      • JayPea says:

Rowlf is the very first muppet. Jim Henson designed him way back in the 1960s and he appeared on the Dean Martin Show, where he played the piano, sometimes with Jimmy Durante. He was great back then, as well.

        • JayPea says:

Sorry, the Alzheimer’s is kicking in. I meant The Jimmy Dean Show, not Dean Martin. Hell to get old and senile!!!

Dog. Doooog. Yip yip yip yip yip dog.

    • Lindie says:

You don’t understand how the graph works.

‘Human’ refers to the etymology of the name not the characteristic of the Muppet. It’s a ‘human’ name. So Kermit is a human name (Irish in origin) with a descriptive term – hence human and descriptive. Swedish Chef is a purely descriptive name. Rowlf the Dog is silly and human (comically spelled version of Ralph) and descriptive.

So in fact, you are wrong, wrong, wrong!

  18. Yolanda S.M says:

    BEST GRAPH EVEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!

  19. Teachernine says:

So umm…technically shouldn’t Gonzo fit in the “descriptive” part of the graph as well? >.>

  20. Lindie says:

I wouldn’t call ‘Elmo’ a weird name. I know a couple of people names Elmo. They’re both above the age of 50.

  21. Aza says:

I would think the Yips would have been in the overlap of “Silly” and “Descriptive”. They say “yip” and they do look silly. Just my thought. I’m sure the creator could accuratly defend their work. Awesome diagram.

  22. amberdragon8 says:

you forgot BEEKER!!!!!! the guy that always says meep!!!!!!!!!

  23. Muppet says:

Oh so many things wrong with this! Miss Piggy isn’t there, and things are in the wrong categories
