    first

  2. derp says:

wow who even made this graph? sexual activity should be about half if we’re counting the copious amounts of pr0n said geek torrentz/views

  3. RandomOne says:

First. Why are OS and Video Games in the same area?
Second. I agree with derp about sexual activity being too small
    Third. Needs more Sci-Fi area

    • Sam says:

1: Most game systems boot into a game the same way a computer does an OS. Even the newer ones, with a graphical bootloader.
      2: Yep.
      3: Yep.

      • wut says:

I think sam was referring to OS as most comp sci geeks would think about OS as in system resource/device/IO management… not “derrr it plays gaems!!!”

    • RainbowPoof says:

I agree with you on all 3 points.
I, personally, think I’ve got a section at least as big as the sci-fi part just for Doctor Who.

  4. CarthageForever says:

The maker of this graph is obviously not a geek themselve. Where’s the area for building circuit projects? Wheres the area where we stand around at freakin Best Buy helping people out not for money but because its what we like to do.

No one gives geeks enough respect, were like the bassist in a metal band. :(

    • Parker says:

I thought I was the only one who stood around at Best Buy helping out the customers. There never seems to be enough employees around to help some of the customers. One time I had a nice conversation helping someone understand the Powermat charging system. I would get a job at a place like Best Buy, but I am only 16. I also find myself helping people out at Radioshack too. The world needs more people like us.

      • sammy says:

you’d better help people a lot while you’re still a teenager and know everything

        • Em The Mildly Amazing says:

Actually, I know a lot of teens who could outdo adults in terms of technology related knowledge. Just because someone is a teenager, it doesn’t mean that they’re wrong about everything they think they know.

  5. hii says:

this is my brain but that my brain doesnt contain sexual activity

  6. weej says:

Sci-fi area should be much bigger

  7. oscar says:

ummmmm…..you do know geeks are a chick magnet

    • Lilli says:

Seriously. I mean, your parents will like him, he will be able to get a good job (MONEY,) and they’re loyal. And frequently cute. If he plays D&D tho….
      DEAL BREAKER

  8. Jazzy the Man (who is actually a woman) says:

Science Fiction needs to be bigger and social network needs to be smaller….

  9. naru says:

My brain looks nothing like that. My video game section is much much smaller, the sci fi section is much bigger and I have an anime part. The sex section is also a lot bigger in my brain. And I know nothing about programming languages, so that’s a nonexistant section in my brain.

This is the brain of a computer geek, not every type of geek.

    • bionelly says:

Agreed. My brain looks pretty much like yours, only instead of an anime part there are a bunch of parts for astronomy, biology and physics.

Also I’m a female geek, so based on the size of the sexual activity part inn the diagram I’d bet the people who made it would say I don’t exist.

    • Parent says:

      IHNTA, IJLTS:
      “I have an anime part.”

  10. J says:

REAL geeks don’t use social networking sites.

  11. John M says:

I have the same combination on my luggage!

  12. Nic says:

Looks like chart drawn by somebody who doesn’t know the difference between a nerd and a geek.

  13. Sniffs says:

this is the brain scheme of 2000′s geek!

a classic geek would be all DnD and Apple II programming languages
and 80′s geek would have loads of basic as well, etc.

Nic: “nerd” and “geek” are considered the same thing.

    • bionelly says:

      Not by everyone.

      http://xkcd.com/747/

To me, geeks are people who are really into certain pop culture-type things, especially science fiction, anime, RPGs and video games, while nerds are more interested in practical things like computers, math and science fact. It is possible for one person to be both; I consider myself to be both, but I’m probably a bit more of a geek than a nerd. As XKCD says, definitions vary, though.

  14. Shipoopi says:

that small blue part in the front is undersized

probability and frequence of physical manifestation =/= thought devoted to

  15. LadyNightArrow says:

I heard once that geeks are described as people who generalize and nerds are people who specialize in areas of ‘geek/nerddom’.

And by the way, not all geeks are like what this graph says. Apparently, the person who put this together doesn’t know a lot of geeks/nerds.

I am a geek and I’m married, so you can guess that the smallest section is covered. I don’t know computer programming, but I have installed various hardware components into my computer (I have my husband help me figure out the software part). I’m not big into Sci-fi, but I do enjoy Star Wars, B5, and the newest Star Trek movie. Video games (namely WoW) are a second hobby to me. My first hobby is Creative Writing (not SciFi) and I enjoy paper and pencil games like DnD, Exalted, BESM, and World of Darkness.

So, whoever put this together needs to get out more and actually meet people.

  16. Kiki says:

I disagree with the sexual activity part. All the geeks I know get laid like crazy.

  17. wererat2000 says:

damn it my docter was sopposed to keep that secret!

  18. kelly says:

Is it sad that as an actual science geek – neurology – I look at this diagram and think stuff like “huh. So their primary motor cortex is social networking…their primary somatosensory cortex is passwords….”

  19. Chaletica says:

Obviously, this won’t count for all geeks. The video game section is the right size, but my sci-fi section is smaller, and I have an anime section about the size of “hardware”. I lack “hardware” and “programming languages”, and the remaning sectors would be a lot smaller.

  20. ethana2 says:

I saved room in the operating system lobe by forgetting everything I ever knew about Windows :P Ope, time to burn my 10.10 alpha 3 CD!

  21. beary605 says:

    yay a geek brain!

  22. Geek says:

make science fiction bigger and completely get rid of sexual activity and its perfect

    • bionelly says:

For you, maybe. It’s really not a very accurate picture of my brain at all (I’m more of a science nerd/science fiction geek than a computer geek, so all the computer stuff combined can probably fit into the programming languages section), and while it would be fairly accurate for my husband, his sexual activities section is larger, social networking should be replaced with ham radio, and a fair chunk of the operating systems section is watchmaking.

  23. Clara says:

Heck, over half my brain space is devoted to song lyrics, and I’m sort of a geek.

  24. FistyMcSkullpunch says:

It’s actually scientifically proven that geeks and nerds have a lot of sex.

  25. Lilli says:

The first post wasn’t really what I thought about the subject, though. But at first impressions, all that matters is money. Chicks like money. I’m a female and I know how we act.
