Hey! Spock is illegal! I’m calling the cops.
That is waayyy too much thought put in.
Inorite? One of the options should be facepalm.
Stolen from http://www.chacha.com/content/infographics/How-do-i-win-rock-paper-scissors-every-time#
Umm … It’s not stolen. Look who posted it here and look at the link you posted. Both are Chacha.com, fool!
I thought paper disproved Spock? But then, you might as well start throwing lizard as well by that point.
Lizard poisons Spock. http://www.samkass.com/theories/RPSSL.html
also, totally stolen chart. Google beats plagiarist.
It’s not stolen. Look what it says in the “Graph by:” spot. I actually like these reposted graphs (especially since they tend to come from sites I didn’t know about before), but all the people saying “It’s stolen!!1!” in the comments are really getting annoying.
love the spock!
He loses to paper and lizard. No, seriously.
This is too legit to quit. Pity, if it was actually stolen.
Rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock. Gotta love Big Bang theory.
I have a chart for RPSLS on my profile. Paper does disprove spock.
THANKS FOR GIVING AWAY MY STRAGETY!!!
The fact that you misspelled *strategy* makes me doubt you had one at all.
Some1 did have a strategy, they misspelled “STRAGETY” in the hopes of a minor sarcasm-based lol
I only play against my husband, and I have not pointed out to him that he always starts with scissors.
When I want to win, I start with rock, and when I don’t, I’ll go for paper.
Maybe I play against females too often, but I’ve found people tend to throw scissors first, not rock.
I feel nerdier just typing that.
i think it’s because your brain is trying to calculate their first move so much it just gives up and chooses scissors.
If I had a shutter eye (obscure reference to the “Lock On!” manga) I could win at RPS every time even if I didn’t use the “Spock & Roll”.
Jan-ken-pon is still the way most Japanese people resolve conflicts, probably up to and including close elections. Okay, that’s exaggeration, but just barely.
Sai-showa-gu jan-ken-PON!
In recent-style Japanese jyankenn, the cheapest and most effective way to win is starting off with ‘pa’ instead of ‘gu’. Another very effective and uncounterable, unexpected throw to the ‘spock ‘n roll’ is a ‘majide’ or ‘yo!’, with all three elements of the jyanken ritual.
Point 4 is wrong. After 2 rocks they assume you expect either a paper or scissors. If you counter with rock, as suggested, you will win to scissors or lose to paper – 1 win chance 1 lose chance. However if you counter with scissors, you win to paper and DRAW to scissors – so this is a better option. If you are going to claim to be a strategist in a simple game, it’s probably a good idea to get the basics right.
Yep! Just noticed the exact same thing.
I taught my three year old this game, she’s ace at it. I mean, how predictable is a three year old.
Also works in negotiating over bath time etc..
Also, try using Chuck Norris. You’ll win at everything
Unless they clone him, with the idea of using him against you. Then the world will explode, everything in the universe would spontaneously combust, and a giant rip in space-time would suck in everything, except for one of the two Chuck Norrises. Once one is destroyed, what is left of the universe will be at peace. There can only be one person as powerful as Chuck Norris. And besides, he’s too powerful for any person to handle.
Don’t be ridiculous. You can’t use Chuck Norris. Not only is there no way to, if you found a way you’d probably die.
Um, that would work for thumb wars, not rock-paper-scissors. Unless you have a strangely hands-on version of rock-paper-scissors where you need to keep your thumbs straight, in which case I guess it might startle the person enough that they make an illegal move, but I kind of doubt that was what you were talking about.
Everybody does scissors first. Seriously.
Everyone is different. So seriously, study your opponent. And also, if you see your opponent studying you, to know your preference, you should change it up a bit when he faces you. Imagine what he will think when you do the near opposite of what you did when he saw you. And also, look at their facial expression. You will be able to tell easily when they are frustrated, and when they are finally going to throw an unexpected one. You will be able to surprise them again. It will almost be as if you know almost every future throw, ahead of time.
What about Lizard?
heheh after 5 turns of RPS i just go Spock or Atomic Bomb.
always works.
Atomic Bomb? Do tell
I have different strategies against different people. My niece highly prefers Rock and Scissors, so what I do is throw Rock. If she goes with scissors, I win. If she goes with Rock, we tie and start over. She expects me to believe she’ll go with Scissors (in case I choose Paper to counter the expected Rock), and thus I’d choose Rock. So she chooses Paper and I choose Scissors.
If she actually goes Paper, and I lose, I announce best 2 out of 3. Next I would choose Scissors to counter an expected Paper, but she expects that and would hypothetically choose Rock, but believes me to expect that and chooses Scissors. I choose Rock.
She won’t play with me anymore. But that’s not half as weird as when I play with my brother (who calculates these things similarly to me, so my strategy against him is constantly updating and running in circles.)
where is lizard?
As a STAR TREK fan girl, you know I am going to go for the Spock and Roll every single time now.
I prefer the old foot-cockroach-atomicbomb game: foot squashes cockroach, cockroach survives atomic bomb and atomic bomb kills foot. now make a strategy guide for that!
Um, wouldn’t it be essentially the same, only with the names of the different moves changed? It’s not like rock-paper-scissors-lizard-Spock, where there are five possible moves so the strategy’s different. I guess the thing about finger tension would be different, but other than that it should be pretty much the same.
these look like good tips but does it really guarantee you’ll win “every time”? methinks it’s overstated.
*Breaths in deep* Scissors Cuts Paper. Paper covers rock. Rock crushes Lizard. Lizard poisons Spock. Spock smashes Scissors. Scissors decapitates Lizard. Lizard eats Paper. Paper disapproves of Spock. Spock vaporizes Rock. And as it always has, Rock crushes Scissors. *sighs*
I thought it was “paper disproves Spock,” not “paper disapproves of Spock.”
