It’s a reference to Dante’s Inferno with a reference to Firefly in it. The Inferno reference is glaringly obvious, which is probably why people haven’t really mentioned it (even people who aren’t familiar with the poem have probably heard of the circles of hell, plus the title “Dante’s Internet” is kind of a hint.) The Firefly reference is more of an inside joke, which evidently you didn’t get.

Oh, and if you’re going to be all pedantic, it’s not “the poem Dante’s Inferno”, it’s Dante’s poem The Inferno. Most people may refer to it as Dante’s Inferno, but Dante is the author, not part of the title.
