    ..so?

    • cantgetit says:

so he says imma gay and i support gay marriages!

      • LoveOutLoud says:

        Is that a bad thing?

        • Truth says:

cantgetit is just confused about his sexuality.

He’ll soon realize that there is nothing wrong with the fact that he is gay.

        • ehw says:

          comments are moderated now!? WTF!!?

          • Anon says:

at a certain age of a post, yes they become moderated, but not by content.

otherwise I’d think Cheezburger are not taking a NPOV…

        • EHW2 says:

my last comment on yours got moderated and thrown out because I mentioned the Bible. this calls for war.

          P|-|4G5 \/\/I11 B P|-|14|\/|3|)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • I hate ignorant people. says:

Nice 1337. You do know it’s cowardly to hide behind it right? Especially if people can read your “secret message”. By the way “ph” is not the same as an ‘F’ so you might want to learn to spell. Of course seeing as you CAN’T spell you must be tired of ‘F’s by now.

            • I hate stupid people says:

              Blahblahblahblah..
              nobody effing cares.

            • EHW2 says:

I know everybody else will see the message; that’s why I avoided using words that could draw mod attention. I’m not stupid, you @$$monkey. Or ignorant, for that matter, so don’t hate on me.

            • EHW2 says:

And I am not tired of f’s!! They’re freaking fantastic for saying “f@#$ you!”
That is what I’m doing right now.

          • wow says:

It’s intolerant christians like you that made me an atheist.

            • Cimmy says:

              That’s pathetic.

              • ehw says:

                I agree… I think.
depends on which one’s pathetic; atheists or the Christians he’s talking about.

                • Shappers says:

The pathetic ones are those who keep wanting to prove God doesn’t exist because they hate the fact that those who do believe live in happiness because they believe someone loves them so much. I myself am not a Religious person in the traditional sense I have an Idea that I believe in.

                  • Susannah Vane says:

As opposed to the ones who can’t handle their own doubts and thus need to shove their religion down everyone else’s throats? I prefer the atheists, even though I’m not one.

                  • ehw says:

Yeeha for you and plus 500 internets!

          • EHW2 says:

wait maybe it got moderated because I said ph4gg07.
            whoops.
on the bright side, this is a sure way of getting comments, second only to mangling your grammer and mispelling somting.
            go ahead, prove it. :P

      • Will says:

Yup, definately made by someone who’s gay and wants to get married.

        • ehw/EHW2 says:

There’s an ad at the top of the page which says “do you think homosexuals shou have special rights? Congressman Frank does.”
Boy, talk about foreshadowing this argument. Frank is wrong.

    • trt says:

      consequence: AIDS!

      • Malz says:

        Silly trt. This isn’t Africa.

      • Lilly says:

Wow… That was probably the stupidest thing you could have said. Go back to school and learn some basic science! Being gay does not equal having AIDS. *rolling eyes* I feel bad for people like you, it can’t be easy to live with such a low level of intelligence.

        • Me says:

Spreading a misconception is an automatic sign of low intelligence? What about judging someone’s intelligence based on a one line comment posted on a site like this one? How intelligent is that? You tell me.

On an unrelated note, I’m pretty sure gay marriages have broken more than one family over the years. Not everyone is open-minded enough to accept the choices their kids or grand-kids make.

          • LD says:

Straight marriages have broken up even more.
Heck, not even marriages–unmarried people have kids a lot, and not always marry after wards.

            • ... says:

Out of wedlock pregnancies are a different thing than marriages, having kids does not define a marriage, also, a higher percentage of families with gay marriages in them are broken, as straight marriages have been going on for a lot longer.

              • ??? says:

But how high is the divorce rate in the US? And families can be broken over something like that, too. Also, I’m interested in seeing where you got your percentages… Unless, of course, you did what I think you did and pulled them out of your ass…

              • james says:

not true, hater. not true. you’re an idiot with no brain.

                • EHW2 says:

                  Seeing as you present insults with no fact, let me do the same;

YOU’RE MAMA WAS SOOOO FAT, SHE STEPPED ON A SCALE AND IT ASKED WHY SHE WAS GIVING HIM HER PHONE #.

                  DISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Actually, I don’t mind an unintelligent comment once in a while.

              • Amy says:

The percentage is ONLY higher because they never included a “gay” in any of the studies for a very long time. If being “gay” is wrong, why doesn’t God smite all the manitees, dolphins and other animals that have gay relations? Don’t see that happening, and it hasn’t happened for thousands of years. Go back to your negative thinkbox and figure out how to explain God’s moves on that one.

                • Nerte says:

There is no God, get a life.

                  • alex says:

gays should not get married or even be gay. By the way… God is real!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                    • zombie Victim says:

Why? Why shouldn’t they be? Answer that.

                      • BadBeast says:

Because if they breed, then the whole world could go gay in, like 2 generations!

                        • Really? says:

…gay people can’t breed. Men can’t have babies and women can’t either without this thing called SEMEN. And even if they could have children, being gay isn’t part of genetics like having brown hair or blue eyes. So now that we’ve figured out your argument is invalid…

                        • CatCompanion09 says:

Wow… this is the definition of fail. Being gay is not genetic, and gay people can’t even breed. Guys can’t get pregnant, and a girl can ONLY get pregnant from a GUY. There is nothing wrong with being gay, otherwise God, if he does exist, would not have made some people gay. And if God doesn’t exist, then what exactly is wrong with being gay?

                        • ^^ says:

Maybe this is God’s way of lowering the population? A.A

But, really, if your imaginary friend hates gays so much, why did he make gays be gay?

                      • Oh, hi. says:

                        THANK YOU.

                      • Libra says:

Oh my god, That is the same thing i’ve been saying for years now!

                      • EHW2 says:

THOUGH HAST AWAKENED ME . HOW DARE YOU MAKE IT SOUND LIKE WE’RE UNDER DRUGS!!!!
It just so happens my “imaginary friend” was the same of the Hebrews, of Joseph, and of Israel!!!!!!!!!!!!
To answer your question, he didn’t. Gay is a choice, and God gives us free choice. If you’re looking for an intelligent arguement, go to the mythbusters website.

                        • Yoshi says:

So, if homosexuality is a choice, why does “God” hate/punish gays?…

                        • ehw says:

You sound like you’re thinking of the old testament God, Yoshi. Oh, no, he didn’t change, he just works differently now.

                    • Me. says:

If God does exist, and he hates gays, why did he invent homosexuality. Think about it. Why invent something you hate and allow people access to it only to smite them?

Besides, the gays make it easier for straight people to find someone to procreate with, which is a biological imperative. Basically, gays are a good thing.

                      • ehw says:

                        I agree again.
Even darwin, that rascist b——, could tell you that since gay people can’t produce they’re own children.
But since God cares about individuals, not nations, that would mean a gay person would be a bad thing, but in the interest of the gay person.

                    • ehw says:

I agree!!! That’s what I said in my post that got moderated!! They might say it’s suicide to attach one’s self to a religious belief on the internet, but they are cowards!
                      Epic moment end.

                    • ^^ says:

they have no choice. They like their same sex because they just DO. It’s not like they woke up one day and said, “I’m going to piss of a bunch of christians today and have sex with a person of my sex because i can!”
You can’t tell a person what they like, anyway! I’ll make you a deal: i won’t mess with your beliefs in religion, and you don’t mess with my beliefs on human rights. Capiche?

                      • ehw says:

We don’t tell them what to do. But gay IS a choice. We tell them they’re wrong, and what’s right, and let them do it! Christians aren’t ungraceful; our God is a God of grace!

                        • itisinVALID says:

Prove to me that being gay is a choice. I’m 15 and if i could have chosen not to be gay, i would have. believing in God is like having a little voice in your head, telling you what to think.

                        • Lyn says:

Just think for a single second instead of shouting insults and trying to crush other people’s argument talking about things you do not understand? Do not state being gay is a choice when you cannot explain it, and when there are so many arguments against it you cannot counter. I am not even talking about opinions- arguments. Rational arguments.

This may be a basic and overly simplistic one, but please, just look at it for one second. Why would someone choose to be gay… then try no matter what to hide it to the point they don’t even engage in relationships with the same gender? Also, why choose to be gay when you know it will prevent you from having children, make a lot of people hate you, hurt you -and you know I am not speaking figuratively here-, socially disable you, not to mention make you a criminal in certain places and in many people’s heads?

I truly hope you had not considered that before, I truly hope you can understand that the things you are saying are hurtful- and hurting people is going against God. Also, speaking words of hatred in the name of God is going against God greatly. Swearing is a sin.

Just like you do, I am telling you you are wrong. Are you going to listen and change your ways? I definitely do not think so. Also, it is being terribly full of yourself to claim to know “what’s right” and to want to impose it on people. What about humility? You surely pretend to know God well.

                        • ehw says:

i don’t care what you say, and I’m proud to defend my beliefs so intensely!

                  • EHW2 says:

THERE IS NO NERTE. JUST THE BELIEF THAT THERE IS A PERSON ON THE OTHER SIDE WHO USES THE NAME TO STATE HIS/HER OPINIONS, AND WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE WHAT HE/SHE SAYS.
THERE IS NO NERTE, STOP INTERACTING WITH HIM/HER AND GET A LIFE.
YOU CAN’T PROVE S/HE EXISTS EVEN THOUGH HIS/HER WORDS ARE THERE.

                    You asked for it.

Animals are creatures, created by God and entrusted to humans to care for– they do not have souls and are not subject to moral consequences. We–humans are. We have souls and a choice in all our actions and are subject to consequences when we disobey God’s commands. Check out Leviticus and Revelations

                  • wolfcheese says:

I am inferring from this that you think one of God’s commands is to not be gay, which I loathe. It is sad how far from love Christianity has driven itself, love of course being the one most fundamental principle of the whole faith. If you can’t keep it as such, then you should rethink your priorities.

The only instance where the Bible actually dislikes such behavior is in the old testament, which of course doesn’t apply today thanks to Jesus (references in the new testament only call homosexuality as something abnormal, which makes sense for the time period). If Jesus actually said not to be gay then that would change things, but he has never said that (unless you can show me?). So far the conclusion that homosexuality is a sin is not in fact through God’s word, but by people’s interpretation of it – people who may in fact WANT such a thing to be a sin because they simply don’t like it.

It’s all about context – God probably wanted his people to grow in the old testament, and homosexuality would be an obstacle to that. Clearly, population growth is not so important today. Maybe God wants to use homosexuality to fight back against overpopulation. Who knows? I can’t read God’s mind. But the way you speak, you seem to think you can.

I realize that I assumed you are Christian. If you are, say, Jewish, then don’t mind me. I don’t know much about other faiths.

                    • Matt says:

Wolfcheese…good comments. I was a Philosophy and Religion major, and am an atheist. But, that particular question also raised issues with me, so I sought out an answer from my Prof. According to some scholars, the belief is that at the time of that particular passage (A man shall not lie with a man), male on male rape was a common practice amongst various tribes as a way to dominant. Just as inmates will do in a jailhouse setting, or even a heterosexual rapist will attempt to do to his female victim. So yes, in that respect, I agree…let’s not rape. As far as being a commandent against homosexuals, I find that arguement seems more along the lines of fear based propaganda. Oh, for all those that would assume I am gay, I am not.

There is nothing in scripture that speaks against homosexuality. Poor translation and exigesis has lead the the misconception that there is.

And male tigers let female tigers with babies eat first if the come by – a behavioral trait that is not seen often.
And how do you know they don’t have souls? How do you know they don’t have morals, or can’t face moral consequences? Why should only what one faith says be true?

                    • nativelady says:

I agree! Just because one person believes animals don’t have souls doesn’t mean they are right. In some Native American cultures, it is believed everything has a soul. This may not necessarily be right either, but as long as everyone has different beliefs people will never totally agree or be able to celebrate diversity in all aspects.

                      • ^^ says:

This takes me back to sixth grade, when my English teacher told me that humans were the “dominant species” and all animals were below them.
I can’t believe someone would really not value other creatures similar to themselves! This may be a really abnormal thing for others, but for me… I definitely value animals over some people.
People are so flawed… O.O And other animals are extremely useful for science and the survival of our species! On many levels! <:C

                  • ronnie says:

More animals have souls and are accountable than people. Animals don’t judge others or kill out of hate. Not all people need a book to tell us to be nice to others. There will be great dissappointment for alot of people when they crossover and the angel waiting on them was their gay neighbor here on earth. Why is it when someone wants to condone their own hate, they wont take credit for being an ass instead they blame it on God. I wonder what kind of judgement they expect to get on the otherside.

obviously this guy doesn’t have pets. I have seen my dogs throw a kitten back and forth from one another before I realized it was not a rag and saved her. I have seen my cats play several small rodents and birds to death never stopping to feed on them. If that is not sport, then we just have different interpretations of what “killing for fun” means.

                  • Cheshire Cat says:

If God exists… as the one and only supreme power… and the human race is one of God’s creations… subjugated to God… who are humans then to believe they have the right of putting themselves into God’s place and make judgments which are – in principle – solely God’s? Isn’t that judging going not only against Christian principles but directly against God?
Let people live and die. If someone should send anyone to hell (if there is a slim possibility that it exists…), that one should be exclusively God, not you or any other recalcitrant Christian. Check Matthew 7:1.

Leviticus? Are you serious? So you’re not eating pork, I hope.

I’m not very religious, but doesn’t the concept of christianity include some things like “love” and “let him who is without sin cast the first stone”? Poor Jesus, if he knows what’s going on today…

Btw: Can someone tell me – from a religious point of view – why being gay should be wrong? Oh and “not producing offspring” isn’t valid, because many straight couples choose not to (and some would like to, but can’t). Any other reasons?

                    • I hate ignorant people. says:

I actually have yet to read it (laziness) but there have been several mentions by people I argue this with of The Sodomites in… I Kings 14:24 (I looked it up). SUPPOSEDLY that is bulletproof in the NO GAYS argument but I highly doubt it. If God exists and created everyone in His image why would He make a faulty version of Himself? He wouldn’t. They would be in his image too. I’m Agnostic by the way. Hope that helps with what you were curious about. :D

                      • yes-ma'am-i've-read-it says:

Oh wow, thanks. :-) But actually my german translation (since I’m german) says something about “male temple prostitutes”… I think there’s a big difference between a gay and a prostitute. But maybe that’s depending on the translation.

Anyway, I guess I’m seeing the whole thing from a too scientific point of view: I need reasons other than “the bible says so”… Because there are so many contradictions in it from the first place.

I think if there’s a god (yes, I’m kind of agnostic, too) he’ll be satisfied if the people try to love and/or accept each other and try not to hurt them. I have no idea why he should ask for anything else…

But, if “God” is omniscient (all-knowing), then he knew Adam and Eve would’ve sinned…so why did he allow them to sin? He could’ve made them unable to think about anything but him, but he instead gave them free will, even though he -should’ve- known that they would disobey him. Unless you propose that “God” isn’t omniscient, in which case, he is faulty himself.

And, as I said before, if homosexuality is a choice, then “God” gave us that choice. Why should “God” punish people for using their free will that he gave them?

                    Humans are Animals.

                    humans have vertebra
                    humans give live birth
Therefore by the definition of Mammals, humans fall under the Mammal classification

Mammalia (mammals) is a class, in the phylum Chordata(chordates), in the kingdom Animalia (animals).

Humans are animals, and nothing you can say about the presence of a “soul” can change that.

You don’t “go gay”, it’s not a choice. And that is a common misconception that needs to be cleared up. People may pretend to be straight, in order to avoid the criticism, but that doesn’t mean they suddely “chose to be gay” one day. They just found the courage to open up about who they really are. I know this, because I have gay fathers. My dad said he knew he was gay from the age of 17, but being raised in a very religous, close-minded family, decided he needed to make himself straight. He never dated a man, until he was in his 30′s. He married my mom (his best friend) at 18, and stayed with her for 15 years, before he finally found the courage to be true to himself. He missed out on alot of his life. And it’s really sad that he spent, the majority of his life, forced to pretend he was someone that he really isn’t. My dad has had 2 boyfriends since, its been 10 years. My mom on the other hand, a heterosexual woman, has had many relationships, and is now finally happily remarried.. Both of my parents have found love again, and I consider myself very blessed, because I have 3 fathers, and a mother, who all love me deeply. I wouldn’t change anything about it. I love my family, gay or straight.

                          2) The Bible is strong and proven, I won’t go into how because it’s a long story, but I have another solid book to prove it; the dictionary. Marriage is the sacred unity of a man and women. One cool thing about each of these books is that they are unchanged, many years after their creation; the definition of marriage will never change, and the Bible will never change it’s message, like, say, a Jehovah witness’ bible. I heard the story of a guy who had a real old copy of the JWB and he happened to come across some witnesses… They asked him if he wanted a look inside their new versions and he said that he could just read from his. Long story cut down a little, the versions said some things that didn’t match up. He came home day after and his was gone; They didn’t want that knowledge out there. Christians don’t do that; our Bible is unchange and we awant everyone to look inside and read the unaltered word of God.
                          \/\/3 4123|\|’7 \/\/34|<!!!!

                        • Cyberdaemon says:

EHW, convenient that you say the bible is “proven” but you “aren’t going to prove it” my guess is that it relies heavily on fallacies, or false assumptions, because believe me, if the bible were proven correct, we would all know it.

Secondly, the dictionary reflects usage, it doesn’t serve as the last word for what words are, thats why they have to release new editions, meanings change based on usage.

Thirdly, let me give you the Webster’s dictionary definitions for ‘marriage’

                          http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/marriage

By pulling out the dictionary your “definition” argument is immediately proven wrong. The first part of the first definition specifies opposite sex, yes. BUT if you look at the 2nd part it specifies same sex, so by your logic I can just say “Hey, straight marriage is wrong because the definition defines marriage as between gay people”

Note how part b says “married persons”, it doesn’t specify gay/straight, part c again, doesn’t specify, parts 2 and 3, don’t have any relation to the at hand discussion.

So yeah, explain why homosexuality is wrong under the confines of Cat’s statement.

Oh, continuing, you also cannot say that the bible proves the bible, or that god proves the bible, because both of those depend on the fact that the bible is correct in order to be used, and that winds up with a circular argument.

God only proves the bible in the bible, if the bible is wrong about God, then God can’t have proven the bible.

That would be like me saying that something is true “because I said so”

Also, this could potentially boost the number of adopted orphans, thereby giving them potentially better, stable lives(nothing is absolute, so I must say “potentially”).

And abt the AIDS thing, the % of gays and heteros who use condom is of 60% among them. EQUAL. there are more gay with aids bcause its MUCH EASIER to get aids by anal sex. and its much more easier u say NO to comdon in the anal sex ’cause then there is no chance of getting marriage. and ppl ‘spread’ aids not only cuase they are selfish, but becuase u can be with the virus for year bfore having a syntom. its very stupid to think that aids is a gay disease, that homoseually makes couples split out and its very stupid to have prejudice against gays or anything else. and sorry my english, my mother language is portuguese. • Nicholas Smith says:

You realize there’s greater genetic correlation between fat people than gay people? Most identical twins that have one gay twin have a straight twin. Not genetic.
Research clearly indicates that sexual preference is based largely on environment. Also, it is obviously changeable as some have made the choice to change.

              • me says:

Just because something is not genetic doesn’t mean it’s something learned. Many studies you have ignored in your post have pointed to the womb hormones being a determining factor of one’s sexuality. I wish people wouldn’t keep asking “what makes people gay” as if it makes their sexuality less valid. No-one questions why straight people are straight. its also interesting how straight people can devalidate people’s orientation so easily, I guess it’s not hard when you’ve never felt that way. Nice privelege

                • Nicholas Smith says:

I do question what makes people straight. (I had heterosexual feelings for maybe two years then they died completely) Furthermore, identical twins would tend to get the same womb hormones….that’s kinda how the system works.
In the end you can choose your sexuality, just as you can change your food preference; it just takes time to make your mind change.

                  • Ryan says:

This is complete BS. Just because you are apparently bisexual and can change who you like doesn’t mean that your experience is universal. There are plenty of people that are straight and could never possibly be gay and vice versa. Look up the Kinsey scale.

                  • Yoshi says:

…change your food preference? Because the kind of food you like determines on how your tastebuds change over time. How your body changes your tastebuds. So, by your analogy, homosexuality is something our body regulates, not our mind…and if the mind doesn’t regulate it, it’s not a choice.

              • Sophia harrow says:

idk where you’re getting your info from, but the kinsey institue (one that is fully credited and often does studies on human sexuality) has done studies on this. THEY found that in identical twins, most of them are both gay or both straight, and they found a gene in fruitflies that, when activated, would change the fruitflies mating patterns to prefer males over females. (link here-http://www.skeptictank.org/gaygene.htm).
another thing, the only GENETIC correlation between fat people is with the epigenome, which can be modified if there is an extreme change in the environment during the puberty of the father. BEHAVIORAL or ENVIRONMENTAL correlation between fat people is much higher as eating high fat foods will make your fat and people living near each other, like families, will tend to eat similar foods.
And who exactly has changed? i can think of some “ex”-gays, but even on the website for many of these programs, they admit to not being able to change the sexuality, but only to being able to suppress the desire. This is as ridiculous as changing your race by getting tanner or lighter.

just because you can choose to either go straight or gay, doesn’t mean you can choose those feelings. i’m bi and i can choose to date a woman or a man but i cant choose to not have sexual feelings to either of them.

But anyways, my dad was forced into a heterosexual marriage with my mom, his best friend, when he was 18. His very religous, close minded family had him believing he was damned to hell, and that the only way to save himself was to “choose to be straight”. After 15 years of pretending to be someone he wasn’t, he finally became true to himself, and everyone is much happier now. I love my dad, and his boyfriend, and my mom, and her husband. I love my alternative family, haha. We may be different, I mean, not many people can say they have 3 fathers, and one mother, but, I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

Compared to the dismal record of broken families straight marriages have caused, gay marriages, at less than one-one thousandsth of 1% of all marriages, have had virtually none of the impact you allude to.

If being gay weren’t a choice (ie, genetic), wouldn’t identical twins be either both straight or both gay? The fact that that isn’t so shows that people aren’t born gay or straight.

              • Pi says:

You choose how tall you are? That has some genetic base, true, but is mostly environmental. Just because something isn’t entirely genetic doesn’t mean it’s a conscious free-will *choice*.

Seriously, why would someone choose to be gay? The social and political benefits?

                • megan says:

In identical twins, their genome are not always completely identical. One gene in one twin might be active, but in the other it might be inactive. One might have a mutation and other doesn’t, etc. The differences between them increases as time passes.

              • a new pov says:

on the other hand, do babies have ANY sexual feelings? And as a kid on the playground did you not know any boys who thought of girls as “icky”? At puberty, that’s when sexuality is defined. The only reason a 7 year old would see heterosexuals as normal is because their parents are heterosexual. So, true, people are not born straight or gay, but it is an adolescently developed feeling, and cannot be switched like a light.

              • bobzaguy says:

Do you have it marked on your calendar when you chose to be straight? Did you get a questionaire? Survey? Were you fully aware of what it meant to be gay or straight when you made your choice? Did you get a certificate or something from your doctor?

            • Do you ever leave the house? says:

People make the choice to be straight all the time. People also make the choice to be gay. Your sexuality is something you choose, not something that’s forced upon you.

Wait… what? WHY would people choose to be gay? Being gay is not genetic, but that doesn’t mean it’s a choice. Being gay is developed during adolescence. True, bisexuals have a choice, but other than that, you have very little control.

Actually the incidences of aids might go down because people generally cheat less when marriage is involved.

      • leosunfire says:

HIV/AIDS is more common now in heterosexual black men and even more common in women.

      • ??? says:

Not if they practice safe sex. Besides, it isn’t as if heterosexual people are immune to and/or never get the virus, so should humanity as a whole stop getting married and having sex? Also, not all marriages even involve sex. Some married couples are perfectly fine without it.

      • Thrnheart says:

If you look at the FACTS…Heterosexual females are more likely to contract HIV than gay males….

      • James says:

Everyone can get AIDS not just Gays. When was the last time you had a STD test? I bet NEVER!

      • Naumadd says:

By that thinking, straight sex – consequence: all of the various sexually-transmitted diseases known to man … including HIV. (AIDS is the syndrome brought on by infection with HIV. One doesn’t catch AIDS, one catches HIV. AIDS is the body’s response to that virus … eventually.)

      • Alice says:

AIDS is (and this may surprise you) not passed on by marriage, rather is contracted by having infected blood or fluids make contact with your blood or fluids. You might want to get tested if you are under the misconception that AIDS is only for gay people- you never know!

      • wow says:

Aids has nothing to with one’s sexual preference, dumbass.

      • Sarah says:

Straight people get AIDS too; it’s not a consequence of homosexuality.

      • EHW2 says:

It’s even worse than that; people of the same sex where never meant to marry, and as a result you can look online for the number of STDs created by same sex marriages.

      • Yzzy says:

no because a) lesbians can’t get aids unless they use drugs or for some reason have sex with men and b) MARRIED PEOPLE DON’T SPRED AIDS

    • Sprite101 says:

Recursive graph is recursive. This would eat up a lot of cpu cycles.

    • bbbbbbb says:

but gay people can only adopt children not create if everyone in this world was gay there would be no reproduction…..and thus the end of civilization

      • Guywithabrain says:

That is got to be *THE* stupidest thing I have ever heard. There are vastly more straight people than gay and therefore we will never have “no” reproduction. Besides gay people exist whether or not legalized marriage exists. I seriously hope you’re joking. If not than take your thumb out of your mouth, it’s almost time for finger painting (right after play time).

      • LovePride says:

Dude! WTF? ok… First of all, that would be impossible. You know about artificial insemination, right? Gay men donate semen, and Lesbian women carry the baby. It happens all the time, without everyone “going gay”.

      • ash says:

Heh heh. I’m a lesbian, having kids using my wife’s gay brother as the donor. He’s gay, so am I, no sex involved, yet we have kids. Also, dunno where people get the idea a doctor needs to be involved. I’m gay, not sterile. All the plumbing still works.

        • nice says:

that’s pretty cool that your wife is a lesbian and her brother is gay. what are the odds of a family having two homosexual kids?

          • bobzaguy says:

If everyone was truthful, you would find that a family having 2 gay children is quite common.
But people lie about everything. Even that they are gay. Go figure.

        • ehw says:

No doubt about that… but it’s not a matter of it working out or not it is a moral issue. Marriage is the sacred unity of A MAN AND A WOMEN, and seeing how we christians believe that, we are quite obligated to tell you how wrong you are.

      • BAK2 says:

We should adopt, be us straight or gay. Why increase the already overpopulated population when we could help save children who have no parents? Anyway, it’s called surrogacy, gays do it too. Like in Baby Mama.

    • hehe says:

      obvious troll apparently wasn’t obvious

  2. anonygrl says:

Consequences of posting a graph someone else did a while back, about as tragic as the consequences of gay marriage.

    (Not at all, that is…)

  3. Your mom says:

I guess that means you’re gay

    • alice says:

no it doesnt… do you have to be gay to think that people are stupid to disapprove gay marriage? does this mean you oppose it?

    • BAK2 says:

Um, no, people can support gay marriage be they gay or straight. I for example support gay marriage 100%, and I’m not gay, to my currrent knowledge. It is honestly surprising that anyone would NOT support gay marriage/rights.

  4. EvilDave says:

You forgot “Gays get divorced”!!!! You people are not getting out of THAT easy!

    • Seagull says:

Yeah, and don’t forgot Gay Custody battles, Gay honeymoons, Gay (double?) Bachelor Parties, Gay anniversaries.

      • EvilDave says:

I think the gay double bachelor party would be counter to the bachelor party concept. So, separate gay bachelor(ette) parties!

    • mags says:

      “You people?” Geez.

    • Ignignot and Ir says:

Clearly you are hateful and angry at a concept that has nothing to do with your own failings and incompetence. Please grow a pair and then castrate yourself.

      • EvilDave says:

You fail so hard, it is not even funny. I am all for homosexual marriage. Please turn your sense of humor on and read it again.

        • Ignignot and Ir says:

Your attempt at covering up your fears and refusals to understand what is clearly foreign to you is quite humorous. Unfortunately your stain will never be washed from the earth without bleach. Please go drink some.

    • ??? says:

… The divorce rate in the US is currently 41% for first marriages, 60% for second marriages, and 73% for third marriages. Bear in mind that, in most states, gay marriage is still considered unlawful. Your response?

      • EvilDave says:

My response is “Whoosh” the sound of sarcasm flying over your head.

        • EHW2 says:

          PWNED!!!!!!!!
AND IF THE # OF GAY MARRIAGES COULD BE PUT TO A PERCENTAGE SO WE COULD FIND THE PERCENT OF DIVORCES, I HIGHLY DOUBT IT WOULD BE BETTER.

    • rhiannon says:

and you forgot ‘straights get divorced’. gays are people too and as long as it is legal, divorce will be a part of marriage-straight or not.

      • StrangerThatOwnsASquirrelador says:

Maybe the owners of the site are trying to make a point?

        • Me says:

That they’re gay and everyone should be ok with it? There will always be racist, sexist, homophobic and/or generally intolerant people to disapprove of everything and everyone that can’t deemed “normal” to them, whatever that may be.

There’s no point to be made, open-minded people don’t care, close-minded people don’t want things to change, gay people that aren’t activists don’t want the attention, gay activists only do it for the attention and just about everyone else simply doesn’t believe in marriage anymore and wonder why the f*ck gay people are fighting for the right to sign a contract which will inevitably ruin their lives.

          • Josh says:

There is a point to be made. As a non-activist, I do appreciate all the effort activists are putting / have put into getting marriage equality and anti discrimination laws passed around the country.

If you think gay activists ‘only do it for the attention,’ you probably haven’t talked to many, if any, at length.

          • Wanda says:

This is the most logical and intelligent posting I’ve read.

          • StrangerThatOwnsASquirrelador says:

Perhaps I should explain some more. The ‘point’ that they may have been trying to make could be that everyone has opinions. They are not right, yet they are not wrong. That is why they’re called ‘opinions’.

          • lovepuppy says:

wow you sound so angry. ppl still deserve the right to have all the same protections and choices. despite race gender age sexual orientation and such. and as an activist i dont just do it for the attention, i fight for equal rights because i believe change is possible, and i believe all ppl deserve equal rights and the right to the pursuit of happiness.

            • StrangerThatOwnsASquirrelador says:

Exactly. Remember when women weren’t considered ‘people’? That wasn’t quite as long ago as some people insist. I’ve heard people say that ‘In the 1700s women couldn’t even speak w/o permission’. While this may be true, women didn’t get their equal rights until the 1960s. I hope that someday the homosexual community will gain their equal rights as well. And African Americans had a war about them, and they finally have equality. Why can’t we all just get along? While I agree that there will always be racism and sexism and homophobia, is there a reason? I ask this as a GENUINE question and I apologize for offending anyone.

              • StrangerThatOwnsASquirrelador says:

The United States Constitution guarantees the right to ‘Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness’ and denying homosexuals the right to marry is a violation of our countries oldest and most revered laws. If being married makes them happy, then nothing should be done to keep them from their life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

              • HI says:

I agree but still we aren’t treated exactly equal, more so than the 1700′s but still men are considered “better” to most.

                • StrangerThatOwnsASquirrelador says:

I am aware of this. Women are often paid lower wages than men, and even though I am a male, it outrages me. Who’s to say that these women aren’t mothers? They need to be able to support themselves and their children, and hopefully she is married. If she is married, then she has a husband to work too so they can both provide. But I know too many single mothers that are struggling with bringing even macaroni and cheese home to their children!

          • BAK2 says:

What is wrong with you?! Only do it for ATTENTION?! How would you feel if the majority of the world was homosexual, and tons of people hated you just because you were straight? Would you be trying to get equal rights for gay and straight people just for attention? No, you would do it because it mattered to you.

          • EHW2 says:

Now do one for straight marriage.

    • ELMO says:

If someone made a graph with all of the potential consequences that can come from a “straight” marriage, there would be a gazillion colors on the dang thing!

There is a reason the Gay Flag has a rainbow on the damn thing! Come one, come all, color, race or creed & gender. No one cares. You are accepted just as you are, for who you are. No matter what you look like, what gender your sexual preference might be (even if you are straight), etc.

      We all have our issues.

      be well.

      • Giselle says:

Oh yeah, the gay world is wonderful and straight marriages cause all kinds of problems.

I have no problem with gay people doing whatever they want to do, but I don’t get why some people want to make out that the gay world is perfect, or that gays are somehow ‘better people’. I’m sure that plenty of gay marriages do have bad consequences. Especially for some of the kids brought up in such families. *In some cases*.

        • Ryan says:

I don’t think anyone claims that gays are better, but given the fact that they (still) are not equal, they are more empathetic to what it feels like to be discriminated against– meaning it is less likely to happen among them. Not exclusively, of course, but there’s a reason that people who are oppressed are generally more accepting and it’s because they know how it feels.

          • ehw/EHW2 says:

Not equal!? WHAT THE HECK, MAN!?? Marriage is defined as a unity between man and woman!!!!! You…

            (transforms to EHW2)
What my calmer alter ego is trying to say is…
AT LEAST WE DON’T F@#$ING KILL THEM LIKE IN CERTAIN ISLAM COUNTRIES! GAY’S HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, RIGHT TO EVERYTHING IN OUR CONSTITUTION THAT IS OF AMERICA, A COUNTRY WHICH RECOGNIZES THE DEFINITION OF MARRIAGE MENTIONED ABOVE.
UNTIL THESE PH4G5 REMEMBER THAT DEF., THEY WILL JUST KEEP THINKING THEY’RE OPPRESSED, WHILE IN REALITY THEY’RE JUST WRONG FOR ASSAULTING SACRED VALUES, AND YOU’LL THINK SO TOO!! GOD BLESS YOU AND HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!!!!!

  10. TruthorConsequences says:

    first off…repost = boring
    second…graph doesn’t make sense :D
you see, by definition, Marriage = Man + Woman

What gays rilly want, is a certificate of acceptance of society. A document from the government that says “I hereby declare that we accept your gayhood and condone, exalt, consent and in all other ways LOVE your man on man or Woman on Woman lovins. Oh, and heres your tax break.”

What you do in your house is up to you. Asking me to change the definition of something that is supposed to be sacred (yeah yeah, I know that no one respects it anymore) is not on the list of things to do. Apparently not even in California ;) [Prop 8 anyone?]

So, live your life, but don’t expect me to throw a parade for the degradation of society. I don’t celebrate any of these either:
    1) the fall of the constitution
    2) the ignorance of America
    3) fornicaction
    4) adultery
    5) Pornography
    6) child abusers
    7) spouse abusers
    8) drug users
    9) Homosexuality
    10) violence
    11) gang activity

    etc,etc ad naseum

I also won’t redefine any of the above items as ‘good’ either. And DON’T think this makes me a ‘homophobe’ (afraid of homosexuality). I’m not. I’m just -gasp- Against it!

    • DiploDuplo says:

      3) fornicaction (has always existed)
      4) adultery (has always existed)
      5) Pornography (has always existed)
      6) child abusers (has always existed)
      7) spouse abusers (has always existed)
      8) drug users (has always existed)
      9) Homosexuality (has always existed)
      10) violence (has always existed)
      11) gang activity (has always existed)

      Shut up.

PS: using a latin expression doesn’t make your comment seem any more valid.

    • prote says:

      AMEN!!

    • nameless says:

i cant tell if your being an asshole or not but i could grasp that your against homosexuality that was simple and i got your opinion across entirely now heres mine

christianity wasnt the only religion or cultural movement with a form of “marriage” now im not sure i dont study the stuff but im damn sure that theres at least one culture/religion that allows homosexual marriage

secondly sure homosexual mariage gets a tax break but i dont think they just wanna get married for a tax break and if you know anybody that has gotten married because they got a tax break does that make them better? and the certificate saying “we accept your homosexuality” well what if we just threw you out of society wouldnt you want back in? now of course this is a hyperbole but it gets my point across\

now to ask questions about this

      1) the fall of the constitution (what does it have to do with homosexuality)

      2) the ignorance of America (what does it have to do with homosexuality)

      3) fornicaction (ok everybody has sex it happens and homosexual fornication is no different so this is valid imo)

      4) adultery (pretty sure some gays have cheated hell ive seen it on cheaters so valid)

      5) Pornography (what does it have to do with homosexuality)

      6) child abusers (adopt child. abuse it? i guess it could happen. half valid)

      7) spouse abusers (this could happen in a gay relationship so valid imo)

8 ) drug users (what does this directly have to do with homosexuality)

      9) Homosexuality (this is the issue itself so no comment here)

      10) violence (from what ive seen lotsa gays are kinda panzy-ish male and female so i dont really see this validity)

      11) gang activity (the gay gang? lol)

if im not seeing the point to these please state your response

now also before anybody on either side flames me heres a little bout myself

      1. im male
      2. im completely heterosexual (straight)
      3. this is my OPINION and the one above it is his i do not hold any scorn against him im simply stating my side of it
      4. i don not want to start a flame war i just enoy calm debate of conflicting viewpoints

      • surfaman says:

you sir win the internet :)

      • Jamm says:

He’s saying that he equates homosexuality with other deviant behaviors. like, I don’t like murder, so I lump it in with theft, extortion, etc. cause they are all crime. Homosexuality is lumped in because he views it as bad.

You can’t legislate people’s opinion. Banning homosexuality won’t stop people from engaging in homosexual acts, any more than making gay marriage legal wont make it any more socially acceptable to people who are against it.

    • Seagull says:

Personally, I think that marriage itself is the domain of the church(temple/mosque/etc.) and not the government. I have no issues with gay marriage at all, I take issue with the federal government forbidding/mandating gay marriage.
If one church bans gay marriage, that’s fine with me.
If another one down the street allows it, that’s fine with me as well.

      • prote says:

the issue with gays (not all of ‘em, just the loudest ones) is that they don’t want any church or government to simply accept them, they want to the WHOLE SOCIETY to accept them which will of course never happen, simply speaking they’re so-called “attention whores” who have nothing better to do than to make other angry

        • prote says:

          other people*

        • fish eye no miko says:

“they want to the WHOLE SOCIETY to accept them”

Humans are social creatures. We like attention from others, and to be part of groups. So, yeah, gays want everyone to accept them. So does almost every other person and group. And just as with gays, not everyone will. That doesn’t make them bad for wanting it.

        • HI says:

CAtually most gays just want to marry the people they love and being gay does not equal wanting attention. Yes there are some people like that but aren’t lots of straight people like that too?

        • MLD says:

From my experience, they want the legal rights that are afforded TO the rest of society.

As a trans bi woman, idgaf if you ACCEPT me. But I damn sure want the same legal rights that a straight person has.

        • CatCompanion09 says:

Please correct me if I misunderstood you, but it appears you are saying straight people don’t want to be accepted. I… don’t get it. I’m straight, and want to be accepted. In fact, many people at the school I go to don’t accept me as a human, so I understand that every person needs attention.

          • Jamm says:

            “God is Fictional” is Fiction

            • Xaqtly says:

“God is fictional” is the opposite of fiction. I can prove God doesn’t exist, can you prove the opposite? And before you answer, get a dictionary and look up the definition of “proof”.

              • DShep says:

Logically speaking, it is impossible to prove a negative. You may prove that it is highly unlikely that God exists, but you cannot prove conclusively that God doesn’t exist. You also can’t prove conclusively that flying telepathic dolphins don’t exist. So don’t go claiming you can do the impossible, it kind of undermines your argument. :-)

Psychologically speaking, this person believes that God exists, so trying to change his/her mind by arguing that She doesn’t exist is an exercise in futility. Whether God really exists or not is irrelevant, because this person believes that God does.

But any Christian who believes that God hates homosexuality has just not studied enough. I have a B.A. in Theology, and I think the Bible needs to come with a warning label about 1. questionable word translations and 2. taking into account the historical context of the writer, and separating the writer’s cultural biases from the theological content.

If you don’t interpret it correctly, the Bible also says it’s OK to stone your mother to death for making a shirt out of two different fabrics. And that racial discrimination was ordained by God. And that women should not be allowed to speak in public. The prohibition against homosexuality falls into that same category of “old discriminatory rules that we now realize are stupid.”

Natural Selection has been proven scientifically. There is absolutely no proof that god exists, but there is proven evidence that Darwinism is at least partially correct. Surprisingly, I am not an atheist. O.o

I feel like one day, were going to look back on this, and our great grand children wont be able to believe that gays weren’t given equal rights, just like we look back and can’t believe we used to have slaves, or women weren’t equal to men.

And how do you, a mere human, know that your god hates homosexuality? I mean, if he exists. Which, even though there’s no proof that he doesn’t, there’s not proof that he does either. There’s things people have said like “NOAHS ARK OMGOMGOMG” and “JESUS DIDE 4 OWR SINS”, but both of those are tales that can be told. Where’s Noah’s ark as evidence? Where’s Jesus’s dead body?

        • bobzaguy says:

          No he doesn’t.
He had a batchelor son who hung out with the riff-raff of the community and never married. He was past 30 when he died. He had an uncommon love for his mother. His earth father basically stayed out of the picture.

          duh

      • cm says:

I totally agree, Seagull, that makes a lot of sense.

      • thinkquesauthority says:

I agree. seperation of church and state should make the government say that “marrage is a sacrid union between man and women” is not a valid arugument in the courts because the word sacrid is a religious word with religious context. The problem is getting a civil union and since our country has never given the definition of marrage beyond a union of two people, then their should be no reason for gays getting a civil union and all the benefits that come with it. (like being in the hospatal room with one’s spouce when their sick and dieing.

        • ??? says:

So… Just because someone is gay, they shouldn’t be able to be there next to the one they love when he or she is badly hurt? They should be kept from the hospital room and possibly never get to say their final goodbye? And the family should be allowed to kick them out of the funeral?

      • fish eye no miko says:

It’s amazing that now that gays want to marry, people start talking about how “government shouldn’t be involved in marriage”. Where were you guys back when, say, the government wanted to give people tax breaks for marriage? That’s the government getting involved in marriage.

        • thinkquesauthority says:

I wasn’t alive back then and it was a more christian american era. wiccas were hippies, jews were strange, muslums were annoying. most people in suburben neighborhoods were expected to be christian.

        • Seagull says:

Don’t get me started on Taxes, our current tax system is an abomination. As far as I’m concerned, everyone should have an equal tax responsibility. Let the states worry about single/married/Head of Household.

      • Vic says:

The problem with this statement is that the institution of marriage is recognized by our government-you can even go to a judge and get married, totally removed from the domain of any religion. As a married person you have a special status that is legally recognized in our society, this is also separate from any church. I find it shocking and heartbreaking that, once again, the “haves” are blocking the “have nots” from access to something and they are pulling all kinds of silly reasons why the “have nots” should be denied that access.
-Saying that gay marriage leads to the breakup of more marriages is just silliness. From what I am able to gather this assertion is implied as that when a gay marriage happens in a family the straight marriages of other family members is at risk because of the gay marriage… How a healthy marriage of one couple would be destroyed by the marriage of someone else, well that just makes no sense at all. Perhaps some shaky marriages use that as an excuse, but that is all it is, an excuse and so it is not valid. I find it offensive that they even call the denial of marriage to same sex couples a “DEFENSE” of marriage, from whom are you defending your marriage, and how does the relationship of someone else cause harm to YOUR marriage? If your marriage is so weak and fragile that it can not stand someone else that you don’t even know also having access to something, well, it is going to take a lot more than this to make your marriage mean anything.
-Children. People say that the biology of a same sex couple makes it impossible for them to reproduce between themselves, so that is supposedly a reason to deny the couple access to marriage. Until we have a binding requirement that all married couples must produce at least one child and that infertile persons are also not allowed to marry, this argument is insulting and invalid. As far as saying that it requires one male parent and one female parent to raise a child, which would mean that people with children may not get divorced and single parents that have never been married or become widowed loose their child to a married couple, this argument is invalidated also.
So, what else? The Bible, until you follow the other Hebrew laws of the Bible that appear in the same passages as the sentences or parts of sentences that some folks are saying mean god hates people who are homosexual, this is just foolishness. The ancient book that has been translated and translations of those translations are translated to create the book we know as the Bible is very easy to take pieces and parts and do everything from validate slavery to

But apparently the denigration of spelling and the English language is just fine. “Rilly” isn’t a word.

    • Malz says:

Marriage isn’t sacred. The act was originally the exchange of property, the woman was property given over to the man. HENSE why women take the mans last name to this day–because she is “traditionally” his property. But then again, women being inferior to men is a sacred age old custom now isn’t it?

      • lovepuppy says:

women couldn’t even vote till the womens suffrage. gays women and poor people … we are pretty much all kicked around by the rich white men who refuse to recognize their privilege

    • painfulfury says:

you fail to take into consideration that this has nothing to do with the church and everything to do with the laws of the US so you don’t have to accept anything or even be fore it but you don’t have the right to tell someone else that they cannot have the same rights that you have

    • Schiffy says:

So your saying that people are only gay to be accepted by society, and for tax breaks? You sir, are just plain stupid. That’s like saying I’m straight just because i want to beat my wife, divorce her, and emotionally scar my children for life. (for the record, I’m 16, this is all hypothetical). People are gay because they ARE, that’s it. A man will like a man because that’s the way he is, same with women. I can just tell you’re very a conservative guy, but guess what, it’s the 21st century! Things are changing! If Bob and Joe get married, is YOUR LIFE affected in any way? I didn’t think so! You said “live your life,” but that’s hat people should be saying to you, live your life, and don’t worry about other people’s views, sexual preferences, etc.

THIS is an example of someone being a prejudice

    • DShep says:

Your definition of marriage as 1 man + 1 woman is impressively narrow. Throughout most of history, that’s not how it was defined at all. Even in the Bible, polygamy was very common.

I find it interesting that you deplore the fall of the Constitution yet you say that marriage should be sacred. One of the basic, fundamental principles of our whole government setup is the separation of Church and State. Check the First Amendment. So any Biblically- or religiously-based argument against gay marriage is completely irrelevant.

Our government treats marriage as a legal contract between two individuals, which results in those individuals being treated, in many cases, as a single entity. They can file taxes together, make medical decisions for each other, etc. In any other case, telling someone they cannot enter a legal contract because they are the wrong gender would be a violation of federal discrimination laws. Why is an exception made for marriage?

#3 made me LOL. You’re against fornication? Um… do you even know what that word means? The only reason any of us are here is because of fornication. Maybe you meant that you disapprove of fornication outside of marriage? In that case, you should let gays marry so they won’t be doin’ all that extramarital fornicating.

Also, a final note, the Latin is always a bit more impressive if you spell it correctly.

    • chestertonian says:

Thank you, Truthorconsequences. Thank you. Sanity.

    • Guywithabrain says:

No. Your opinion is *VOID*; this is the twenty-first century and anyone that holds to the idea that things like pornography or homosexuality are in any way unnatural or harmful is a part of the problem with society, not the solution.

People like you live in a backwards world based on an arbitrary set of “values” that define strictly a “family” and exclude a slew of people whom you deem somehow lesser than you. This kind of mindset has held back society from advancement; it happened innumerable times in history and continues to happen, in countries WE deem “backwards; tyrannical.”

If America views the predominantly harsh dictatorships prevalent in the middle east and underdeveloped countries to be wrong, as we do, then it is the HEIGHT of hypocrisy to label a large part of our own people as “less than ourselves,” or in any way wrong.

Furthermore I find it disgusting that you group child abusers with homosexuality. These two are completely unrelated and anyone who thinks so is taking place in a stomach-wrenching display of ignorance and arrogance.

In addition, just because YOU (btw who the hell are YOU to decide what should and should not be) don’t “agree” with homosexuality gives you NO right to decide law for people whom it would affect. These gay marriage laws affect one group of people: gays. It will not break up families nor destroy the world; it will allow gays who want to be committed to someone they find fulfills them in every way to display their love for one another in a ceremony and status that heterosexuals have been participating in for millennia.

In conclusion, you are a homophobe, a hypocrite, and most amusingly probably a closet case.

      • Giselle says:

Seriously, pornography is in no way harmful?

Also, (s)he didn’t group child abusers with homosexuals except to say that (s)he didn’t agree with either of them.

Furthermore, I would argue that if someone doesn’t “agree” with something then, they are perfectly entitled to argue that viewpoint, even if it doesn’t affect them directly, because it affects society in general – and if enough people feel the same way, then they have every right to ‘decide law’ about it. That’s how democracy works.

And I do find it amusing the number of people who get accused of being ‘probably closet gay’ when they speak up “against” homosexuality in any way.

      • nameless says:

you have stupid points in an argument i agree with

uhm not everybodt that things those tyranicall dictatorships make them lower than us i believe the tyrants should be executed in a horrendous way but i dont see anybody over there that i dont know as lower than me infact its hard to make me think that somebody is lower than anybody and im sure im not alone in that

“who the hell are YOU to decide what should and should not be”

arent you doing the exact same thing just on the opposing side of the arguement? hes saying they SHOULD NOT and your saying the SHOULD so in that your going against you own logic while i am not against your stanpoint of allowing gays full rights i simply hate when people speak irrationally im also sure there are probably other problems with what you said im just at school and dont have the time to anylize it properly

Actually, by definition, marriage is the joining of a couple, which doesn’t specifically mean man+woman. Therefor you are wrong there.

Oh, and Prop 8 is in my opinion unconstitutional, because it violates the rights of gay people. Therefor it passing should offend you, because it is degrading the constitution, and shows the ignorance of America (or at least a fair number of Californians).

can’t say i agree with that, as far as i know bible and the teachings of most of the churches, God doesn’t “hate” anything or anyone, God is forgiving and loving etc. Hate on the other hand is the domain of “satan” IMHO

      • Technowolf says:

your right, i got it wrong. he can’t stand it.

        • Xaqtly says:

You still got it wrong. God, who is fictional by the way, loves and forgives. There is no circumstance under which he would “not stand” anything. Why don’t you read your own bible sometime and brush up on what it says?

          • Technowolf says:

why dont you read it? it does in fact say that he can’t stand it. God is not fictional. so why did you say”god, who is fictional, loves and forgives” if he doesn’t exist, hhhmmmm?
            make a decision!

            • Meh says:

The bible doesn’t speak about homosexuality, the church does.
              Church =/= faith or god

Church is just a bunch of twats, stating their opinion as facts, who have lost the true faith themselves. God is loving and forgiving to everyone, so is Jesus, so should you act.

And you can’t deny a fact which is so obiously present in our society, can you? :/

            • Xaqtly says:

I was only catering to your fantasy by pointing out the rules in the work of fiction known as the bible. So if the bible says he can’t stand it then he’s obviously not all about love and forgiveness, is he?

Like the entire Christian faith, what you believe is based on complete contradiction. Either he loves and forgives, or he doesn’t. PICK ONE. You cannot have it both ways. “can’t stand it” suggests hatred, dislike, intolerance. Is that what your God is all about or not? Figure it out and get back to me.

              • Technowolf says:

he still loves and forgives, but its the sin he can’t stand. and to Meh, I go to church, just to let you know, and i don’t appreciate being called a twat.

                • LoveOutLoud says:

Before I begin, I would like to let you know that I have attended church regularly and therefore know of Christianity and the Bible decently. From my understanding, God loves all his children, and sent his only son to die for our sins. Would this God, that created and loves all he has created, also hate his children that are homosexual? I understand as to how it could be frowned upon, seeing that marriage symbolized the meeting of man (the groom) and the church (the bride). But God, the maker of the Earth and all that is the universe, is also a being of love. He would understand the bond of two people that love each other, for he loves his children. Why would this understanding and loving God condemn those who love, and others that understand? By that, I mean why would he condemn homosexuals, bisexuals, transvestites, and those that support their love? God, from what I understand, loves, understands, and forgives. Why should he condemn those that love and those that support their love, when he sent his Son to the cross for ALL’S sins? When He sent Him to the cross, did He already condemn the homosexuals and denied them forgiveness? This is the main reason why I have doubted, and later dropped, Christianity as my religion. It’s not quite a religion, but I have adopted the belief of equality and acceptance. I have always believed in equality and acceptance, but this is a newly built foundation in the ideas. This topic holds especially strong for me, because I am in love with a female. I am a female as well. I don’t discriminate against heterosexuals, or anyone else for that matter. I understand the desire to be accepted. Society, in general, frowns upon differences, especially in this matter. But wanting gay marriage to be legalized is not a cry for attention, or a plea to be accepted. In reality, it’s just a request for equality. We understand that not everyone will accept homosexuality. There has never been an instance of total acceptance. Our love is barred from being proclaimed due to fear of discrimination, and we are barred from marriage because of, in my opinion, trivial reasons. Sure, we welcome a wider acceptance of our orientation, but we mostly want to be considered people. There was the Civil War, Women’s Suffrage, and now there is the fight for Gay Rights. There are many reasons why gay marriage should be accepted. HIV/AIDS can be contracted by anyone, regardless of sexual orientation. Homosexual relationships tend to last longer than heterosexual relationships. Families can be destroyed by any bad marriage, heterosexual or homosexual, and there can also be a chance of a stronger bond in family relations, by either heterosexual or homosexual. I honestly think, in my own humble opinion, that more people should open up their minds and see the world around them. Please note that I said “more people” and not “all people.”

            • Marmoset says:

… What? I am afraid that I cannot understand your logic. What you claim is that if God were a fictional character, then that would imply that he couldn’t possibly have a characteristic like forgiveness, he can either be fictional and not have a personality, or be real and be forgiving?
Being a lover of fiction books, I will have to disagree. A fictional character can technically have any characteristic or personality, simply because they are fiction. If I were to create a fictional character that had three arms and was very stubborn, it wouldn’t matter, and there could be no possible argument against it, because they are FICTION.
Therefore God could be fictional AND be able to love and forgive at the same time.
I don’t have any concrete religion, nor do I believe, or not believe in god, but I do think that people make too much of a big deal about these sort of things, honestly, whatever side you’re on, there is no need to name-call or swear. In fact it probably damages your case.

            • cha says:

the jolly green giant, which is fictional, is jolly and green.
just because he doesn’t exist doesn’t mean he isn’t jolly and green!

… *sigh* god well then let me state my opinion on your story of it now look not many of these are directly attacking your opinion

why should you believe a god that

he created us in him image are we perfect? hell no so by that logic god isnt either is he?

bible = book, harry potter = book so should i go try and fly my broom now?

i have to go so i cant finish my post but ive made a small point i might come back later

      • Lovely Louise says:

Ha ha! You see, there’s a slight paradox in Christian thinking: they claim that their god created EVERYTHING. Therefore, their god created evil. But they believe everything their god created is by its very nature good (because their god created it). Yet their god created evil; therefore, evil is good by this argument.

        • prote says:

without evil there would be no good (and the other way round too)

          • Crumble says:

Evil can be defined as the absence of good.

God created everything, and then allowed us the choice not to follow him .

God is love, but God is also just.

A parent will set rules for their children, and will punish them if they stray from those rules – It doesn’t mean that the parent hates the child? absolutely not.

Lastly – A person who eats overindulges in food, will become fat. You can say that they have a genetic predisposition to eating, or retaining weight, etc. And it might be very hard for them to quit overindulging. The bottom line is that over-eating is still a choice.

People who engage in homosexuality are still making a choice. they may never have a desire for the other sex. However, it’s still a choice to engage in it. God loves everyone, he hates the action.

            • Ben says:

Evil cant really be defined because ther is no such thing as evil. Evil is an entirely human concept so has no place in the natural world.

            • LotusLove says:

I want to start by saying Im a homosexual and my ex husband was a pastor while we were married so i do know the bible and the churches teachings and what some of you are saying is just insane….

              * First marriage is considered sacred in the bible because it was intended for a man and a woman (adam and eve) but back than homosexuality was around but was considered dont ask dont tell and many were married to an opposite spouse to cover the fact that they were gay….

              * second evil exists in this world becasue there has to be a balence god created FREE WILL giving us the choice to chose what we want if there was only good in this world how would we have free will? also god did try to create this world without a form of evil he did that with the garden of eden but in order for him to create a perfect sanctuary and still keep free will in play he had to place a temptation eve CHOSE to eat the apple than give some to adam who chose to take a bite even knowing that he wasnt suppost to… thus giving him the knowlage of the world and creating sin….

*Third… Homosexuality did exist in the bible and is talked about in the story of sodom and glamora (sp?) and yes the city was distroyed for for its overwelming amount of sin… includeing homesexuality

*fourth…. yes god dislikes homosexuality and does consider it a sin in the bible… but he loves his children… he gives us the choice to choose what we do with our lives and how we want to live them includeing who our partner is… it is still our choice to see it as wrong

              * and finally the bible also says that ONLY GOD is to judge us on judgement day that he did not place us on this earth to judge others but to love thy neighbor as your brother regardless of there mistakes and to forgive them of mistakes and hurts towards you even if they dont ask for your forgiveness for YOU can not be forgivin by god if you refuse to forgive others and he will look away and treat you not as his child… to him you choseing not to love and forgive is the same sin as murder in his book.

im not saying that you have to agree with our life style or even accept it as your own but we are still people who live laugh and love in this world and we deserve just as much repect as any other person.

            • ??? says:

Actually, evil is not the *absense* of good, per se. Rather it is the *opposite* of good. Ergo, neither can exist without the other, for each requires the other in order to have a definition. You cannot define good without separating it from evil, and vice versa.

      • Technowolf says:

        1. god didn’t create evil in the world, it entered when adam and eve sinned. it is of the devil.
        2. he dosen’t exactly allow it to be around. he gives us a choice. he doesn’t hate the person, he still loves gays and will forgive them if they come to him and ask for forgiveness :)
        3. we are not perfect because we sin. god has never sinned, never made any mistake, never done anything wrong. its because he allows us to havea choice, either to sin or not to son. to go to heaven, or go to hell.
        4. the Bible is a HOLY book, not just any book. it is God’s word. Harry Potter is just an ordinary book writen by a human, who is inperfect. As humans, we are all imperfect. I’m inperfect, you’re imperfect, we all are. Technically, the bible was written by humans, but God gave them the words.

        • prote says:

Now you’re talking! why did you start with that “god hates gays” instead of something with more sense like this?
anyway, basically you are saying that everything God made is perfect and than you say that all people are imperfect… wait… didn’t GOD CREATED HUMANS!?
now lets see you counter this :P

          • Technowolf says:

they are imperfect because they sinned. and i dont think i said god made everything perfect…did I?

            • thinkquesauthority says:

Have you ever lied in your entire life. Wait, there is only one “human” who’s ever never sinned according to the bible. His name was Jesus and he died because everyone has sinned before and will. It’s in human nature. Eve sinned before she “brought sin into this world”. You can’t say he doesn’t love gays because they’ve sinned becuase that means that he doesn’t love you eather. feel unloved yet???

              • Ben says:

But didn’t god create the devil?

                • LotusLove says:

No the “devil” was an angel (lucifer) who challenged god and was banished from heaven… he was not created to be the devil

                  • rhiannon says:

well, if god is omniscient, meaning he knows everything (including the future), then he wouldve known lucifer was going to become the devil…and he couldve prevented that…and in nowhere in the bible does it say that ANGELS were created to have free will…so by this logic, god did create the lucifer to be the devil and he did create evil

          • An Evil Penguin says:

@Technowolf: The bible was not actually created by god, but by humans (unless theres some sort of secret one somewhere that I don’t know of) so hypothetically as humans are imperfect the reproduction of gods word within the Bible has the potential to be skewed, through bad translation, typos, malice etc. What I’m trying to get at here is do you think that there is potential for the whole god hating gays thing to be incorrect, and that whilst the idea of the bible is gods, that the word isn’t? And for the record I’m a straight Christian.

            • Technowolf says:

@ an evil penguin: thats what i ment: god gave humans the ideas for it and they wrote it down. and god doesn’t hate gays, he hates their actions. the first time i wrote i didn’t mean to say he hates gays, i ment to say their actions, so im sorry for any confusion.

              • Marmoset says:

And yet you use the Bible as your main source of evidence. You say, that God hates gays actions, and that you get that information from the Bible, I mean, where else could you possibly get that information? Unless you spoke to God himself, and I find that highly unlikely considering that I am doubtful that someone like that even exists.
But then you also say that humans, humans who, according to you, have all SINNED, are all apparently imperfect, are the ones who wrote down the Bible, the ones who copied it, translated it, published it?

So answer me this Technowolf, if you get all your evidence from the Bible, and the ones who wrote the bible down, have apparently sinned and are imperfect, wouldn’t they have made mistakes? Changed parts of it for anger and their own amusement? You can’t deny that if they were the ones to write it down, they would have made mistakes, changed it perhaps?
So if they did change it, couldn’t someone easily have just added in that god hates the act of being homosexual? You have no concrete evidence that god hates it or them.

              • lovepuppy says:

what are the gay actions that god hates so much? smashing musical performances? excellent fashion sense? the copious amounts of volunteer work most city lesbians do? what?

                  @lovepuppy,

what do religious fanatics, and twilight fanatics have in common?……… they both base their lives on a FICTION book. and for those who say that the bible is non-fiction… i never knew a book could talk about angels, demons, spirits, talking animals, and still be non fiction.

          • Technowolf says:

Ok, surfaman you asked for it !
the bible is not fiction. I have seen a realdemon before. they are kinda pinkish colored, they have eyes that are like black holes, and they don’t have lips, more like slits for mouths. and that incident woth the talking donkey: an angel talked through the donkey. <3 u though!

          • Crumble says:

The difference is, The bible is the most historically verified book we have today. we have literally hundreds of copies dating to around to Jesus’ time period. The next most verified book would be Caesars war journals, having about 10 copies available.

The Bible has been true to people for thousands of years, and people find it still as relevant today as it was in it’s time.

The Twilight Series is by a living author who presented her works as fiction. Depending on who you ask, it may or may not be a good read.

And the Bible doesn’t have Vampires to my knowledge.

              • lovepuppy says:

3 For that matter where does it say God is real in the bible. (I found a flaw in teh bible)
4 if god created us in his image, he could easily be gay, and if god created us and hated gays, he would not have made gays.
5 Gayness happens in nature to.
6 Your point about god being real has no solid evidence.
& If god even was real and cared about humans wouldn’t he help us?

You can’t prove God exists because you need faith. You need to believe. You can disprove God to the moon and back with miles of evidence saying he doesn’t exist. You need faith to prove God is real. Have you ever not trusted someone because you had a gut feeling? The facts would say that the person is perfectly acceptable but something in your gut said “No.” That’s faith. You don’t believe God exists because all the evidence points to it. You believe God exists because you have faith

              • momo says:

It’s not necessarily ‘faith’ that anyone feels when you trust someone from your gut feeling. It’s instinct, the last we have. The human race is pretty much the only species that doesn’t follow our instincts.

Being openly gay is fulfilling, I don’t have to pretend to something I’m not and I don’t have to pander to anyone’s ridiculous malformed ideas of “right” and “wrong”.

        • James says:

          Umm no!

          1. god in relation to the Christian bible is a name so should be God
          1. The serpent tricked Eve into eating the forbidden fruit, therefore, duplicity (A form of evil), jealousy (A form of evil) both existed prior to Adam and Eve’s sin.
          2. So what happens if they do not ask for forgiveness as they believe they have done nothing wrong? Not even the strictest parent would then condemn them to eternity of hellfire, and yet your God of love will?
          3. God in the form of Jesus did sin. Thats why he had to be baptized. He even admitted it himself. Plus if you read through your religious babble, you will see many instances where Jesus sinned according to the Jews traditions. So You argument there is false
          4. The bible is not the word of God, it doesnt even claim it is. It is a collection of stories around a similar theme. So your right that it is not like Harry Potter, its more like a Readers Digest.

So I will close with your own words

Do a little more reaserch and try to come up with an argument that’s right next time. nice try though. <3 u!

          • Technowolf says:

            @ James:
i know you are jelous that you can’t come up with your own conclusion like me, but don’t ever do it again.
1, i write out God on paper, but when i’m typing and in a rush, i forget to. if it bothers you and it hurts your feelings, i won’t do it anymore cause im tired of hearing your crying.
2.count better. you used 1 twice.
            3. Jesus never sinned. baptismal is not because you sinned. and where did it ever say he sinned, because as i recall, it says Jesus NEVER sinned.
            4. no i never remember it saying that the bible was the word of God, but because it has quotes, and laws, it is the word of God. its just obvious. and God says its his word.
So i will close with MY famous closing:
Do a little more reaserch and try to come up with an argument that’s right next time. nice try though. <3 u!

      • Moi says:

God created all things perfect, including humans. It was humans who screwed it up. He only allows bad things to happen because humans figured they would be better off without His help, and no doubt if He exists, He’ll fix everything (including making people perfect) once His point is proven.

Also, I totally support gay rights. Matter of fact, I AM a lesbian, and also a Christian. All I can say is I really hope He can forgive me for loving another human. : /

Also, feel free to point out anything you might see “wrong” with my opinion; I find other people’s opinions interesting. :)

    • Jay says:

The “God” you and many other ignorant people in the world invented does not want gay marriage. Just because people are brainwashed by some fake invisible man in the sky doesn’t mean that people should suffer because of the way they live their lives.

If you hate gay people so much, then let them marry and let them go to “hell.” No reason in trying to save people you hate from damnation.

      • Crumble says:

        He’s not fake.

Call us brainwashed, call us ignorant. It doesn’t matter.

Ad hominem attacks don’t change fact.

I don’t believe in homosexuals as they are defined.

the term homosexuals definds them as “people who are homosexual” as opposed to “those who have sex with the same gender as themselves”

It infers that they have no choice in what they do.

I don’t buy that. Even if someone is Genetically pre-disposed to like the same gender, it does not mean that they have to DO anything about it. They don’t have to get married to anyone, they don’t have to engage in any sexual acts of any kind.

Just as someone who is pre-disposed to anger can take steps not to engage in angry outbursts.

Either way. No one should hate another person. That’s not God, and it shouldn’t be Christians.

        • Countavery says:

poor poor Crumble, Can’t Even Notice 6 billion other people are saying the same thing about their own gods…
Yes people their is more then on god, and more than one bible.

          • Technowolf says:

            @Countavary(again):Crumble’s right.
and you are wrong. to some degree. there are millions of fake gods, but only one is real. his love is everlasting. can their gods provide them with their every need? Is their god capable of loving? does their god care to know the exact number of hairs on their heads? can their god hear their every thought? is their god even living? the bible says that the number of thoughts god thinks about you every day are far outnumber the grains of sand on the earth. that equals over one MILLION thoughts per SECOND!!! is that not amazing to you? He will listen to everything you say!He has raised people from the dead. Jesus died for you. if you were the only person on the planet he still would have done it, and i find it sad to believe that you wouldn’t want to accept him as your god. :( who wouldn’t after all he has done for just YOU.

            • Omacc says:

oh i’m sorry techno i realize now that everyone else is wrong and only you christians are right. Our gods don’t love us, we just follow them because they are assholes to us and don’t love us, provide for us, or live.

            • emb013 says:

Oh my gosh are you kidding me? Crumble said that gays don’t have to DO anything about what they feel. To me, that seems cruel, and not like something that would come from a god who has “love [that] is everlasting.” Because God made gay people predisposed to fall in love with the same sex, they have to suffer all their lives with repressed love and self-hate because “only the ACT is sinful?” Come on!

Think about the Bible, and the story of Jesus. What was the MORAL of the story? Look, I’m not trying to say that the Bible is fiction, because I wasn’t there 2,000 years ago so I wouldn’t know, but the fable about the tortoise and the hare has truths about life, too, yes? But are we really going to have a tortoise and a hare race because the story said to? Can animals talk now? No. Jesus wanted to spread a message of acceptance, tolerance, love, and forgiveness. I’m sure he would be quite disappointed with many of the so-called “Christians” that are spreading this trash about how love expressed between two consenting partners is somehow “sin.”

            • lovepuppy says:

jesus wanted to feed people and help the oppressed. basicly he was an activist that fought for the minorities. too bad the church crucified him. if he was real and here today im sure he would be fighting for wold hunger and the abolishment of bigotry. gays would have there rights in no time :)

            • I Stole Your Hat says:

Hey! How can you say that? how can you claim that they are false? people have as much evidence that their gods exist as you have for yours. Some even have MORE. How can you be sure that the god of the bible is not someone else’s(sp) god in disguise?

            • ronnie says:

Why would anyone follow the same beliefs as you, you talk in circles.God is everlasting Love, but he hates. Hmm How can God be listening to everyone every second when he is laughing till he cries when he hears people say things like this in his name. It would be less damaging if people would name their hate in their own name and not Gods. I feel so sorry for those that think their hate will get them to some place in the sky sitting on a throne, and all the homosexuals will be in hell drinking margaritas together. Take a good look and remember the faces of all the gays you have judged, you will see them again.

        • millo says:

You are genetically predisposed to love and be attracted to the opposite sex. Lets see you be celibate your entire life and not ever act on a single desire

    • Lovely Louise says:

Let me see… “destroy” means “to reduce an object to useless fragments”. So two men (or two women) wish to marry one another; how does this destroy families? The couple is in fact building a relationship and a new family together, not destroying anything. They’re not forcing straight married couples to cheat, split up, or shuttle the kids back and forth between two unstable homes. So how can their getting married “destroy families”? There’s a lot more in the bible regarding what’s offensive to your god than homosexuality, including harbouring hate in your heart.

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you”

      Matthew 5:43-44, KJV

So, there may not be much room in your heaven for you, either.

      • Technowolf says:

        to lovely Louise:
i had to do something with the graph, up there it said:destroys families, so i was just going with the flow.
I don’t hate anyone, even he gays. i love them as they are, even thoigh they do wrong.
        to Jay:
God does exist. can you see wind? no, but you can see its effects. you may not have ever seen God himself, but you can see what he is doing in people’s lives. he is not fake. the devil also exists. i have seen real demons before. weather you want to believe it or not, God, Satan, demons and angels exist. God did not create evil. it entered the world when adam and eve sined. it is not of God.
        God loves you!

      • Technowolf says:

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”
        —1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV)

        • millo says:

the greeks didn’t have a word for homosexual, that word was translated later and back then it mean male prostitute

        • Vic says:

ok, so why are we ignoring everyone listed EXCEPT for homosexuals?
Fornicators, well that is unmarried sex. So, everyone that has ever had unmarried sex should be banned from things and hated.
Idolaters, well that is pretty much wide open, some say that this means anything that you love. So all of those who love things like money or things, they should be banned from things and hated as well.
Adulterers, well, those who have not been damned with the first two need to pay attention here. Elsewhere the New Testament (I think Paul, but I could be wrong) tells us that if you marry and then you separate from your spouse and you get married again while your first spouse is still alive, you are committing adultery. So, everyone that has a living ex spouse and gets married again should be banned from things and hated.
Sodomy. This can be strictly defined as any act that is not genital to genital intercourse. Kiss your wife’s breasts, or go a bit further and you are engaging in sodomy and should be banned from things and hated.
Thieves. Well, good grief, all of our politicians, masters of big business… holy cow there is no way to list them all here, as well as the petty pickpocket and anyone that takes an ink pen or paperclip home from the office. Oh, don’t forget anyone that has ever maybe taken an extra few minutes of a break, or left a minute early, taken a personal phone call… All of them should be banned from things and hated.
Covetous. Umm, yeah see the above.
Drunkards. Well, then we need to re-establish Prohibition to help prevent people from becoming drunkards and anyone who currently drinks should be banned from things and hated.
Revilers. ouch, that is another biggie. Using abusive language against another. Ok, so anyone that has not been caught up in the net so far, better check yourself here. Ever yelled at someone in the car that cut you off? Ever gotten frustrated at someone on the phone and blew off a little steam? Ever blew off, even a little, steam at home and said something that you had to apologize for later? Well, all of these folks should be banned from things and hated.
Extortioners. Well, did you maybe ever kind of fudge things to make someone give you something that you wanted? Politicians and big business are at high risk (or some seem to think it is in the job description), but lots of folks do this too, maybe not enough to meet a legal definition, but by a very strict and conservative definition… these folks should be banned from things and hated.
So, why do Christians seem to want to focus so much on this ONE part of this verse? What about everyone else? I would venture to say that a huge percentage of Christians are guilty of being revilers when they use their hate speech against gays… hmm, interesting thought there, you are making yourself fit another of the categories in this verse because someone else fits into one of the categories and you can’t tolerate unrighteous people…?

        • Anna says:

So why are the words of Paul given more weight than the forgiveness of Christ?

          • emb013 says:

EXACTLY. If gays aren’t allowed in heaven, even if they believe in Jesus, doesn’t that mean that instead of Jesus conquering all sin, that one sin conquered HIM?

      • LotusLove says:

it doesnt say there is no place for homosexuality… but it does say there is no place for sin and the bible does say that a man should not lay with another man…
‘Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
        lev 18:22

it also says…Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
        1 corinthains 6:9

        • millo says:

9 “These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat. 10 But anything in the seas or the rivers that has not fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is detestable to you. 11 You shall regard them as detestable; you shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses. 12 Everything in the waters that has not fins and scales is detestable to you.

          Leviticus 11:9-11

          • millo says:

oh was this out of context MY BAD! its called cultural laws and the entire book of Leviticus is riddled with them. If you believe that we should follow what Leviticus says, then women are unclean on they’re periods, no mixed fiber clothing and shellfish and pigs are out. So if you’ve ever been a woman, eaten a scallop, or had bacon YOU HEATHEN!! You can’t pick and choose what you want to believe in LEviticus

you know, i could have sworn the bible said that god made everything. THAT INCLUDES GAYS!!! Why’d he make them if he didn’t want them? Doesn’t he love all of his children (humans)? Gays are humans and so are straight people.

      • Technowolf says:

he gives them a choice! would you rather have freedom, or be a puppet on a string? he loves gays, just like he loves anyone that has sinned. and he will forgive them.

yes, that’s why anyone who disagrees that he is real is going to hell. or if you believe there are more then one gods/ goddesses. Why do gays need to repent for who they love? Love is never one’s own choice. If you actually had a love you would know that.

    • Countavery says:

A few questions, how the hell does having gays marry make Russia evade, or judgment day begin, or destroy families?
And how the hell does it cause ice caps to melt?
One more thing, what about the 5000 other gods?
What do they say about it?
And I know how you will reply, “Other gods aren’t real blah blah blah…”
I’m sure that’s also what other people say about your god.
      You sir make me sick.
      And I rest my case.

      • Technowolf says:

@countavary. first off, if you are talking to me, im a female. Technowolf is what my friend calls me.

if you will look at figure 1a, aka the original graph, i had to do something with those figures, so that was more sarcasm than anything else.
2, 5000 other gods, what are you talking about?
3, my god exists. you, or anyone else for that matter, cannot vote him out of existence.
        4, watch your language.
Im quite afraid that your case is invalid.
im sorry that i make you sick.

        • No says:

Can you prove that your god exists? if not, then me saying “Thor exists. you, or anyone else for that matter, cannot vote him out of existence.”, would be equally valid, right?

          • Technowolf says:

sure, lets say Thor is a statue. he exists, right? i cannot vote him out of existence. but however Thor can be destroyed. God is immortal. you cannot destroy him. he could destroy you but chooses not to. he gave you life and couuld so easily take it away.

            • I Stole Your Hat says:

Actually, no. Thor is not a statue. He was, in the mind of the old nordic culture, a god you worship via use of the statue.
Of course, picking the Nordic religion is bad in this situation because it was one where its gods actually died.
              Lets use Hinduism instead;
Me saying vishnu, be he an offshoot of the collective spirit and soul of the world or not, exists, and you cannot destroy he who protects, nor vote him out of existence, is equally valid until your god is proved conclusively to be the only one in existence.
P.S. I’m not sure whether either exists.

    • NotYou says:

What “God” wants? He wants you dumb Americans to go kill innocent people in foreign countries, that’s what he wants, isn’t it? • Jo says:

      “Gay marriage is not cool.”

When did your god start taking an interest in all things trendy, TW? Last time I opened the Bible, I didn’t get the impression that Jesus would encourage people to do things simply because they’re “cool”.

Talk about looking mentally handicapped. You fail at comprehending your own religion. Next time you think about running your mouth, wake up and remember that your god does not condone spiritual laziness, which you seem to have in abundance.

    • RK says:

      1) Gay people are not trying to be cool, we are simply being ourselves.
      2) Are you God, has he become one of the inevitable voices in your head. Because unless he is, what makes you think that you know what God wants? The fact that you’ve read a book that was written thousands of years ago by other people who also never spoke to God.

        • RK says:

…do you have any idea how wrong you are? I know plenty of really awesome gay people. I myself am bisexual. I know lots of other straight people who think gay people are cool. So your statement is invalid. And if one statement is invalid…

Ah yes another one. Not everyone believes in God. Don’t you know this? So that statement is also invalid.

Also- how would gay marriage cause the Russians to invade, eh? Just tell me that one. Come on. What’s the big secret? Why would gay marriage make the ice caps melt? Oh I know- your tiny little brain would overwork itself from all the unneeded hatred and the heat would cause them to melt.

    • CatCompanion09 says:

Wait… how does gay marriage mean Russia will invade? Or the ice caps will melt? And it really isn’t your position to decide what God loves and hates. If God does hate gays, they wouldn’t exist! Argument rendered invalid. And where does it say in the Bible that there is no place for homosexuality? I don’t recall that.

The graph is more like 99.99% Gays Marry and .01% Extremely Religious Families Are Destroyed.

Oh yeah, according to the bible we should all love each other and not hate anybody.

  14. Murrish says:

Where in the Bible does it say that God hates homosexuals? When does Jesus talk about homosexuality?

In Leviticus, it calls homosexuality an ABOMINATION. It also, two verses above that sentiment, says that having sex with a woman who is menstruating is an ABOMINATION. Also eating shellfish, also combining diary and meat…the list goes on.

Ignorant persons can pluck a verse out of the Bible, out of the cultural context, out of the historical meaning and use it to say homosexuality is sinful and “God hates it”. However, they are interjecting their own insecurities as the Hebrew word abomination means ritually unclean. The argument is much deeper than that, but in a nutshell people who use this verse are pulling it out of context and not understanding the true meaning of the verse. Also, if got hates homosexuality then he also hate lobsters.

    • Xaqtly says:

And that’s assuming God hates anything at all, because most brainwashed Christians will also tell you, in the same breath, that God loves all and forgives all. They can’t seem to make up their mind about that.

The consequences, intended or not, could be very dramatic. Look up the stats; higher rates or substance abuse, suicide, depression, etc. The general divorce rate rises. The drain on socialized medicine (don’t get me started) and health-care costs increases. And the debate on rights could go on forever. Why is the right of your belief in same-sex marriage greater than mine of the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman? How about the problems for children in same-sex marriages?

Sorry but this is not about an equal right, it’s about a special right. That being the case, I propose as much compassion about the issue as can be mustered. No one wants to see people hurt and suffer. Find a middle ground.

    • Omacc says:

Wtf…since when has marriage been a “special right” as for the sanctity of marriage…people can have a drive thru marriage…and what about children of a same sex marriage…in a 25 year study, it was shown that children of lesbians are better adjusted to society and as to your first paragraph what does any of that have to do with homosexuality as to sanctity it depends on your religion, in mine we sanctify ritual sex to get closer to the Goddess now i doubt christians find anything sanctimonious about that

      • Anna says:

The Supreme Court has defined marriage as a fundamental right. It cannot, based on this ruling, be a special right, since it has been deemed fundamental. The two are mutually exclusive.

    • DShep says:

The word “sanctity” should never enter into the argument. Look up the First Amendment to the Constitution: Separation of Church and State. You cannot deny two people the legal right to enter into a marriage contract based on any argument that includes the words “God,” “Bible,” or “sanctity.”

Now, if you have some sort of scientific proof that allowing gay marriage will damage the rest of society, I’d like to see it. And just out of curiosity, I’d like to compare it to the damage done by straight heterosexuals who have children out-of-wedlock, or who get married and divorced over and over and never provide any stability for their children.

When it comes to things like rates of substance abuse, suicide and depression: Statistically speaking, if you believe the polls and studies, single women are happier and healthier than married women. And married men are happier and healthier than single men. To me, that sounds like an argument that we should only allow male-male marriages & outlaw any other kind.

    • SeanPedenMusician says:

Seeing as marriage is a sacred Christian pact between a man and a woman, then Gays shouldn’t be aloud to be married by this rule. That being said, however, atheists are also allowed by law to be married. It’s only fair for gays to be married. The depression and suicide statistics mainly have to do with teens that are insecure of their sexuality, if it were more socially acceptable (i.e. legalizing gay marriage), these would most likely decrease. Either way, reaction to one’s sexuality is really a choice, if someone isn’t okay with their sexuality and wants to off themselves, then gay marriage is a rather null issue.

    • Guywithabrain says:

“How about the problems for children in same-sex marriages?”

Oh! Are you referring to having well-adjusted well-educated happy accepting children?

      What a nightmare!

  23. Jami says:

Okay, as a republican I’m going to tell you the REAL reason we’re so afraid of same sex marriage.

    Pedophiles.

We’re afraid pedophiles will say “Well, if a man can marry a man then why can’t I have sex with this 16 month old?”

Besides that there’s another reason -

    Lawsuits.

See, two people who aren’t even gay could easily PRETEND to be gay, then go to someplace to say they’re getting married for a time they know that place would be WAY TOO BUSY to help them, then claim it was discrimination and sue said place/company. Clogging the courts with their get rich quick schemes.

Until the laws are written in such a way to prevent both these things, I will be against legalizing gay marriage. I don’t have a problem with homosexuality. As long as it’s between consenting adults and not with kids, animals, and/or dead people what you do in the bedroom isn’t my business. I’m more concerned about laws that prevent pedophiles from thinking it’s okay to molest kids and keep the courts from being clogged with stupid lawsuits.

    • Xaqtly says:

Maybe you haven’t noticed, but most of the pedophiles (GAY pedophiles, no less) are working in churches as priests. But I’d like you to show me the study that says pedophilia is linked to homosexuality in any way. Please don’t try to debate it, just give me a link.

If you’re really afraid that gay marriage will lead to pedophilia, you are insane. And paranoid, and irrational, and possibly mentally retarded. You know what, why don’t you show me a gay pedophile that ISN’T a priest.

You have a talent for making up baseless fear-based scenarios based on absolutely nothing in reality, which is great and all but has no place in this conversation. Your caveat at the end is just a lie, because you obviously do have a problem with consenting gay adults being married to each other, you’re just finding the flimsiest possible excuses to not support it while trying to appear like you’re not a homophobe.

Guess what? It’s not working. You’re just another brainwashed religious cultist who thinks that gay marriage breaks “the sanctity of marriage”, unlike what LIz Taylor and Britney Spears are doing to it, right? Oh, the hypocrisy.

    • KL says:

There is a big difference between marriage between consenting adults and your hypothetical pedophile wanting to marry (do peds usually want to settle down with their victims?) a child that is unable to consent.

    • lovepuppy says:

this comment has the logic of an eight year olds reasoning in it. but i have given it some thought despite myself because it couldnt possibly be serious.

      1. pedophiles: i don’t think there is.. or ever will be a clause in a gay marriage act stating that if you get a gay marriage you will have an all access free pass to having sex with any 16month old of your choosing.

      2. lawsuits: that is exactly why we don’t let people of two different races marry, because if we did two people who aren’t even in love could easily PRETEND to be in love, then go to someplace to say they’re getting married for a time they know that place would be WAY TOO BUSY to help them, then claim it was discrimination and sue said place/company. Clogging the courts with their get rich quick schemes.

    • CatCompanion09 says:

… what does pedophilia have to do with homosexuality? And the get rich quick schemes don’t even make sense…
Well, at least you stayed away from the topic of religion. I have to give you credit for that.
Let me explain why i think your argument is invalid. As far as I know, pedophilia is in NO WAY related to homosexuality. And the lawsuit reason just confuses me. How would they know when it would be too busy for them to get married? Wouldn’t they have reserved the time so the scheme would fail? Could they even win the case?

  24. BB says:

    This graph = partially true.

I say ‘partially’ because while gay marriage will not cause the russians to invade, ice caps to melt or judgement day to arise, I know that homosexual marriage has torn apart families in my neighborhood and in my church. I support homosexual rights because, while I am loosely anchored in a faith, that God loves all of his children. In the Bible it doesn’t make any comment about gay marriage because during the time it was written and compiled, gay marriage wasn’t an extreme issue.

Please, you flamers, get your facts straight and buy a dictionary.

    • Xaqtly says:

The only reason gay marriage has done anything to families in your neighborhood and your church is because of how the people in your neighborhood and your church REACT to it. If they were more open minded, there would not be a problem. It’s as simple as that.

But like most hypocritical Christians, they say “live and let live” but they do not PRACTICE it. And now here you are blaming gay marriage for this. Is gay marriage the problem? Or is it all the intolerant people in your area? The answer should be painfully obvious.

      • BB says:

I’m not blaming the homosexuals in my area and I’m sorry if it came off that way. I’m blaming those whose minds aren’t open to the concept of people liking people of the same sex.

      • EHW2 says:

LIVE AND LET LIVE, BUT IT DOESN’T MATTER NOW DOES IT IF YOUR A SINNER UNFORGIVEN, IF YOU RAN AWAY BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T LIKE WHAT WE SAID WAS WRONG, YOU WON’T HAVE AN AFTERLIFE.
I guess you say liv and let live means we live to convince others so that they may be let to live in the afterlife.

Yes, it is a repost. I’m guessing the owners/moderators/Powers That Be of this site *are* trying to make a point with it, and the comments here prove that it is a point that has to be made.

In my humble opinion, the right for same-sex marriage is upheld by the Constitution, the Universal Declaration Of Human Rights, hell, it is upheld by one basic principle that modern societies are built upon, namely that every citizen is entitled equal rights. The current wording of the law that mandates marriage to be between a man and a woman, seems only slightly less restrictive to me than the laws that existed in the US only half a century ago that mandated marriage to be between a white man and a white woman, or a black man and a black woman. Those laws were abolished after similar debates and pointless public votes (pointless because you simply can’t deny people their constitutional rights with votes), and 50 years after that, we look back and can’t really understand how people could be that judgmental, bigoted and close-minded. Nowadays, the same events are happening all across the developed nations, all the statistic I saw demonstrate that the general public is becoming more and more acceptive towards the idea of same-sex marriage. The only difference being that some have already passed laws to allow same-sex marriage, and some will. It’s inevitable, and I am willing to bet that 50 years from now, the people opposing it will be viewed by history the same way we view people who were against interracial marriages.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people can climb up on a soapbox and rewrite, misquote, make-up and outright LIE about things they don’t personally agree with!

First of all, marriage IS NOT a “civil union”, it’s a religious ceremony. As such, it must NOT receive recognition by the government for any legal purposes!

Secondly, two athiests can be joined in a secular ceremony and be called “married”, and people don’t seem to object to that!

Straight people have NOT “honored” their vows, but feel the need to deny the sanctity of a legal union to other people? HYPOCRITES all!

    • Naumadd says:

Actually, “marriage” can be defined in many ways. For instance, one can “marry” two boards together with a nail, a screw, glue, etc. Human “marriage” is or can be an emotional bonding with or without a civil or religious ceremony. It can also be defined as the civil joining of two persons as a household or a “marital unit”. Of course, it is also often defined as a religious bonding of two or more persons. (Historically, traditional religion has recognized both polygamous marriages AND same-sex marriages. Do your research.)

All in all, “marriage” is whatever human beings need it to be – which is why there are so many general and specific definitions of the word in use.

Top Ten Reasons Why Gay Marriage Is Wrong:

    1) Being gay is not natural. Real American’s always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

    2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3)Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behaviour. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and
    can sign a marriage contract.

    4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

    5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

    6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

    7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

    8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

    9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

    10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans

      2) You don’t get tall by hanging around tall people. See, there’s these things called genetics. Of course, genetics don’t effect whether a person is gay or not, but a straight man isn’t going to turn gay just because he’s around gay people.

      3) It would have to be a damn smart dog to sign a contract. And marrying other adult people is not the same thing as marrying a dog. Seriously.

      4) Where the hell do you live? Women are not property, blacks CAN marry whites, and divorce IS legal. Wth?

      5) How would this happen? Marriage is marriage. Whether you marry a person of the same sex or the opposite sex doesn’t matter. And her 55 hours of fun is ridiculous. Why should it be important?

      6) “Old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry”? And neither should infertile people? Why shouldn’t they be allowed happiness, just like gay people should be allowed? And why do you WANT the orphanages to be full? Being an orphan is SAD. Orphans should be allowed a happy life too.

      7) Actually, my parents are straight and I’m bisexual. Being gay or not isn’t something your parents cause, like whether you’re polite or not. I have a friend who’s completely straight and she has two moms.

8.) “That’s why we have only one religion in America.” Hello? There are way more than one religion. Christians, Pagans, Jews, Muslims, etc, there are tons of religions.

      9) Gender is not the same as sexuality. One dad could be the mother figure and one dad could be the father figure, bringing in the feminine side and the masculine side.

      10) …really? We’ve adapted to all of those things. There are so many people who are already used to gay people loving each other.

Alright, obviously you have no idea what you’re talking about.

i think they forgot the aids part. and less birth rate. and less real men. and more gayness.

    • LoveOutLoud says:

AIDS can be contracted by any person of any sexual orientation. Of course, that means infertile and older people shouldn’t be allowed to marry, and children without parents can stay orphans. I’m going out on a limb here and saying you consider a “man” to be “an awesome dude who can bang as many chicks as he wants” rather than a person who can care and support the people he loves. Your argument is about as ridiculous as saying that “heterosexuals are stupid and everyone should be gay.” It doesn’t work either way

    • lovepuppy says:

      real men allow gay marriage

    • ??? says:

… About your girly-man arguement… No. Just… No. Not all gays are girly, and not all lesbians are butch. There are a lot of gay men out there who would make a straight male Marine look like a girly little sissy by comparison.

As far as the birth rate, that is a problem becaaaaaauuuse…?

Also, Lesbians, interestingly enough, are the LOWEST RISK group in terms of AIDS.

And a REAL man is someone who cares about others, takes responisbility for his actions, helps the little guy and the old lady crossing the street, can admit that he’s wrong when he’s wrong, steps up to the plate when asked to do something, works hard, does his best in everything he does, treats women with respect, does not objectify women, offers encouragement and help to those less fortunate (as opposed to laughing at them), is generous, honorable, and tolerant, and faces his fears regardless of how much he wants to piss himself. I have met only a handful of such men. At least one of those men is gay.

Separation of church and state…. yeah right.

    • Rogahar says:

Just for the record, I’m 100% behind you, too, Captain Capital. I do think gay marriage should be legal. But I also think Gay Pride marches should be banned. If we ever want to be accepted as normal and okay, then parading down a central street blaring out “It’s Raining Men” as we dance around in boy-toy leather that barely covers our genitalia in a PUBLIC PLACE, then we are never gonna get there.
Just let people live their lives the way they want to. As long as they’re not raping kids or gunning down passers-by, then where they stick their wangs or what they do with their vagoo is entirely up to them.

  42. Rogahar says:

Alright, here’s one for everyone up here who’s spouting that being gay is wrong/imorral/should be illegal/whatever the heck else.
Let’s assume for a moment that God does definitely, undeniably, absolutely, exist. I’m not saying he does, let’s just assume so for this argument.

    1) God made and makes every living thing.
    2) Therefore, God made me exactly as I am.
    3) I am gay. I have no choice in this. Trust me, I’ve tried. The female form is not sexually attractive to me.
    4) Therefore, God made me gay.
    5) God/The Bible states that all gay people will go to hell.
    6) Therefore, God made me to burn in hell.
    7) Therefore, he is no God I have any desire to follow or believe in.

    So, any questions? =P

P.S: If your holy book says to love everyone, but also to throw rocks at groups X, Y and Z of the human race until they die, and you choose to ignore the loving in favour of the rock-throwing, then you have a serious bloody problem.

    • masielynnn says:

The Bible does not tell Believers to take any judgemental actions–its called the New Testament. Christ died to atone for our sins-and that is accepted on a personal level. As Christian we are called to love others–we aren’t called to love or agree with what all people do–that is between them and God.
“Christians” that take judgement and punishment into their hands will be delt with by God; so will all that do not follow what He tells us in His word.

Yes, there IS something wrong with it. God created marriage to be between a man and a woman, why can’t people accept that?

And the graph is wrong, because there are more consequences, to family life and real marriage. And those of us who believe in the sanctity of marriage, real marriage, will never stop fighting. God’s truth never changes, it doesn’t matter how you try to repackage it or make it normal. Sin is sin, period.

“Yes, there IS something wrong with it. God created marriage to be between a man and a woman, why can’t people accept that?”

because not everyone is christian you ass, and people interpret the bible differently. I’ve heard the gay marrige somehow attacks marrige as a whole somehow a bunch of times. Can someone really explain to me how? i don’t get it at all am i missing something? I did not attempt suicide when i was younger because i choose to be gay. If that were true i would have simply choose to be straight but i’m not!

      • brett says:

yet many young gay people do try suicide, self harm, have higher rates of mental health probems as well as substance abuse. The vast majority of peer reviewed, independent scientific studies attribute this disturbing anomaly to societal attitudes such as MM’s. Being told that your feelings are deviant, immoral, lacking worth, in need of change at a young age and through adolescence sets up coping mechanisms, that are in fact in such cases, destructive. Pull your head in MM, your destroying the lives of millions.

    • brett says:

God did not create marriage. Your god has been around for say (im being very generous here) 6000 years. For 40000+ years australian aboriginals did their thing, hunting, gathering, performing, making art, creating belifs like the dreaming, and so on. It wasnt perfect and life was not easy.
And they certainly married. Different reasons, different rules. Same idea.
200 years ago white people came with their small pox, flu, alcohol, racism and religion. The indigenous population were all but wiped out. Then, in duplicitous partnership, the government and church clergy and their missions, simply removed “stole” whole generations of children from their families. The majority abused sexually, physically and emotionally while in the care of church men and women. The effects of this religious-racist doctrine resulted in the destruction of language, society, tribe, family and sense of self. The hope to bring the word of god and remove the clearly pagan and irrational belifs of the aboriginals was blessed by the catholic, church of england, anglican churches by thir complicity and known through historical fact.
As for sin being sin, well it actually does change. Just as women failing to remove themselves from the cities while they menstruate is a sin nolonger punishable by public stoning, (one hopes you agree, its not really a sin to be punished at all nor ever should have. Education has a knack of empowering women you know) the sin of two men laying together is nolonger seen as also punishible in a similar manner. Unless you are Taliban or leaders of Iran, fellow religious intellectual wonders spawned from the same book, bible, tora or koran.
Normal is what is found in nature. Particularly given we are natural creatures. Homosexual behaviour is common in nature particularly in placental mammals, of which we are. Exclusive homosexuality is a small percentage of the populations I have found research for but in no way could be described as uncommon or unnatural.
Your book, like all previous religions, will one day be forgotten. Homosexuality will continue as long as humans and life on earth exists. Your beliefs might be studied by students of history like the egyptians, the aztec, the greeks and the vikings. And your irrational illogical, ideological bigotry noted. But the homos will continue to be.

  47. MM says:

PS I forgot one thing. This is a really old one, so why is it continually reposted?

  48. MM says:

I have to make one more comment. People want to try and bring up all the other things in Leviticus to try and say it’s ridiculous. But, only Jews still follow the Mosaic law. Christians don’t follow all the things in the OT, no. But things like the sanctity of marriage, that are repeated in the NT, we do abide by.

    • brett says:

the sanctity of marriage with multiple wives and the use of slaves is also repeated.
but apart from that, it is those few verses, and only those verses that justify homosexual discrimination. further, the very idea of homosexual, let alone a life long partnership between two was not even undertood let alone spoken about. along with quaint notions like, equality, democracy, freedom, scientific reason, quantum physics, the solar system, evolution…
what is ridiculous is your argument that those few passages mean nothing. if they werent there, what would the bible, have to say at all relating to men and men or woman on woman. as for jesus, he’d have been at the pride parades, the strip joints, the mental clinics and drug rehabs. and hed be looking at you in the same way he looked at the pharasies.
your a camel. heres a needles eye. figure it out.

doesnt. its just that your comments are offensive. a couple can be together all their lives, regardles of sex. they might have siblings. they might not. they might have pets. they might not. but whatever grouping it is, to them, that is their family. it might not conform to your narrow and uneducated definition (have you even heard of a dictionary? just for starters). to to attack somones family, for no reason other than that your ‘beliefs’ dictate you do (and you have strange sense of right and wrong) is either stupid or nasty.

  50. z26 says:

Gay marriage shouldn’t be allowed. If gay marriage was legal, then it would lead to gay adoption. A child needs a mother AND a father. One of my close friends has two moms, and he is made fun of and bullied every day. And he can’t do anything about it. I do not hate or discriminate against homosexual people, but I do not respect them either. If gay people want to be accepted, then they need to stop with the speedos and the glitter and the parades. Both sides are extremely awful. The conservative bornagains and other religious denominations hate so much. It is VERY hypocritical. I mean how many times does Jesus promote loving EVERYBODY? I honestly don’t think that loving God would send gay people to hell. I feel sorry for gay people, but sometimes, they should just be ashamed of themselves.

    • ??? says:

… Ummm… Actually, most gay parents not only spend months (or even years!) preparing for and figuring out if they’re ready and able to be good parents, but they also make every effore to have some sort of role model of the opposite sex in order to fill the missing role… On that note, while I agree that both a male and female parental figure is needed for a child, neither of those figures need be biologically or even legally related to the child. ‘Mother’ and ‘Father’ are roles which can be filled by nearly anyone willing to fill them, regardless of biological and/or legal status. I myself feel that a friend of mine’s mother is more of an acceptable mother to me than my own adoptive mother, and my adoptive mother is heterosexual and married.

On another note, it isn’t as if gay couples aren’t allowed to adopt kids now. It happens all the time, and about the same percentage (or perhaps an even higher percentage? I’ll have to look into that again…) turn out just fine. The only real difference is that kids raised by same-sex couples tend to be a touch more open-minded.

I’m not going to comment on the rest of what you said… I’d have to be able to figure out what it is you’re arguing there… No offense.

      • CatCompanion09 says:

Um, I’m perfectly fine and have lived without a father figure in my life since the age of one…

    • kittenpile says:

I half-agree. I agree on the part that gay people need to stop this “pride” movement if they actually want to be taken seriously, but I disagree on the part that gay people should not adopt. Let me put it simply: One of your friends is not representing of the entire community.

They have no right to judge you—only God can do that.

Relationship develops, mother tells daughter, suddenly two different views are there, and their relationship becomes torn appart. Family distroyed.

  61. Jenny says:

I personally am kind of against marriage in general. Marriage wasn’t originally about love. It was a way for a man to buy multiple women like he could buy livestock. Women in those days didn’t have a lot of rights and had to be married. It wasn’t a romantic thing, at least not first and foremost.

Marriage is largely a product of religion, and it often is grounded and based in a lot of unfair rules of religions. In a lot of religions it’s “between a man and a woman” because there are various unfair gender-specific roles for the man and for the woman. People still expect various roles of each gender today, I don’t like that.

This is also true regarding childrearing, in response to what someone posted before – people have different expectations of a mother than of a father, which I as a woman find intrinsically unfair, this whole ‘a child needs a mother and a father’ lies in the assumption that people’s roles in parenting should be dictated by their gender. It shouldn’t be. If anything it would do a child good to be raised with the idea that the kind of contribution a parent makes is unrelated to their gender.

You can say “well two people can marry and it’s their personal business and they can make of it what they want,” but marriage *is* a product of religion. People should be able to love each other and remain monogamous and trustful of one another regardless of whether or not they are married, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Unfortunately the reality is that marriage is so widespread that it becomes unrealistic to say “well it’s a product of religion, like a “cult” thing, let the cult do what it wants. It’s become so ubiquitous that it does become unfair not to let gay people do it, but realistically it’s just fixing a wrong with another wrong. I wish there was just no marriage altogether, I think it’s a bad thing which is totally sugarcoated to seem good.

    • tyberius says:

I totally disagree with you. The way I see it, the common law concept of marriage is based on the fact that when two people live in a long-term, exclusive monogamous relationship, they have more to do with each other than just two randomly selected person. They care for each other, they form a kind of unity that is usually only found in families; but since they aren’t blood relatives, they consent to this agreement which allows them to form a new family. The common law recognizes this new bond with a set of legal grants like inheritance, legal representation, sharing a health insurance (in the US at least), consequences of adultery etc… religion or gender roles don’t enter the picture, the only thing it’s based on is the concept of a long-term, committed monogamous relationship, which is ubiquitous in modern societies. So I don’t see anything inherently wrong with it. I also don’t think the gay community would be all over gay marriage if we didn’t see it as useful and important.

-Most homosexuals don’t CHOOSE to be gay, but they also usually don’t choose to change it. The ability to change is there.
-God loves everyone, even gays. However, homosexual acts are *bad* in His eyes and should be avoided.
-Homosexuality is an environmentally caused thing
-Gays have all the same rights. Heterosexuals don’t have the right to marry anyone of the same sex, either.

    • blackyoung&gay says:

“Stop arguing God isn’t real; along with other evidence, it’s a historical fact that Jesus rose from the dead. There’s overt proof.”

Not really sure about that proof thing, but I’m also Christian so I believe that. I do not however believe in the bible 100% it is not words directly from God and it has been translated from another language with different versions and the such. I take everything bible wise with a grain of salt. Also the people who teach from the bible and interpret it are human, so they’re interpretations are biased. that is why these Christians support gays, these Christian don’t hate gays but “hate the act”, and these Christians just straight out hate gays (Fred Phelps anyone?)

“Most homosexuals don’t CHOOSE to be gay, but they also usually don’t choose to change it. The ability to change is there.”

This I have to disagree with. I have no percentages but I personally tried to change myself, like really really tried, and it doesn’t work. I have heard countless other stories like mine; I’m guessing it’s common for us homos to try to change ourselves. It just fails.

“God loves everyone, even gays. However, homosexual acts are *bad* in His eyes and should be avoided.”

Goes back to the interpretation of the bible and God thing

“Homosexuality is an environmentally caused thing”

Debatable. Look up the gay gene, not that I believe in that but it is interesting. I honestly think that God just made us this way, but debatable.

“Gays have all the same rights. Heterosexuals don’t have the right to marry anyone of the same sex, either.”

This is really ridiculous. Why would heterosexuals marry someone of the same sex? The idea of a heterosexual is a man and a woman. Homosexuals are attracted to the same sex and we fall in love. The equal right is being able to marry the person we love.

      • youpeoplecanbereallyignorant says:

  69. Donny says:

I just have one comment to make to all of the people who are against “gay marriage” based on the comments I have read. The good book actually does not speak out against homosexuality and is a misinterpretation by man. Being gay does not equal Aids. Being day does not mean your a pedophile-in fact most pedophiles are straight. Lastly, if a gay marriage hurts your marriage in any way, your marriage most certainly had bigger problems to start with. The people opposed to gay marriage use the same arguments about interracial marriage and I do not see that the apocalypse has happened yet. If you are against gay marriage, then don’t have one. If you are an intellegent person with compasion for others, thank you.

  70. RadicalX says:

Regardless, the government has no business regulating, authorizing, or denying any personal relationship, gay or otherwise.

  71. Lace says:

No one is forcing anyone to get a gay marriage. Live and let live! It’s so sad to see people pushing their religious beliefs on others. Stop being such hypocrites. How can you pick and choose what you believe from the bible if it’s the word of God. And if you do follow all the teachings of the bible you probably deserve to go to jail for stoning children.

  72. Windler says:

Sorry, but marriage is not a religious institution. Over countless cultures and civilizations it’s been created for social/economic stability means. Stephen L. Carter, professor of law at Yale Uni., states it best, “Marriage is a civilizing institution, a means of curbing desires or inclinations that might otherwise make social stability impossible. The device through which marriage performs thus crucial function is the notion of fidelity.”
So you tell me that gays just want gay marriage in order to be accepted… you take your “logic”/values and look at it from someone else’s view. Homosexuality is not a “choice” nor do we just want acceptance, we just want the same opportunities that any other straight couple has. The right to make medical decisions without having to “adopt” each other, the right to file joint tax returns, and the perks from the government and other things that any other straight married couple gets.
So before you judge any gay human being and think they’re just wanting acceptance… know that we’ve already been fighting for that our whole life already we just want the recognition and benefits of being a couple.

zOMG! Toooooooooootally agree. i mean wats so wrong with gay marriage?!?!?! my BFF is gay! (and 4 all those peeple who think imma gay DUDE… im not. im a girl who likes guys… end of story!)

  74. Phantomphan111 says:

The tabboos of America are not universal, in many countries, homosexuality is excepted. I just happen to be a Christian Republican that supports gay rights. Beleive what you beleive, it’s your opinion.

  75. roflcopter says:

im not a hater, but in the bible it says Adam & Eve, NOT Adam & Steve!!

    • Windler says:

Thing about that though… Did you know the bible also says that any man who lies with another man’s future wife will have their own blood on their hands… It also states that eating fish without scales is an abomination. You can not use the bible to back up discrimination.

      • Aubree says:

oh and also it said wearing mixed clothing is an abomination(IE cotton), so i guess we are all going to hell…

    • Meowface says:

Actually, it used to. Back in the late 1700s they went around and rubbed out the “St” from “Eve”‘s name and threatened to burn anyone who objected.

    • Lace says:

Wow that’s so clever AND original!! How did you come up with that!? Pure genius!

    • Vic says:

It doesn’t say Victoria and Gary so I guess my marriage was an abomination too. What a totally pointless comment.

  76. Will says:

I have gay friends but I think being married is part of a hetrosexual culture. Standard legal marrage in the US is based off Christian beliefs..
So I think those in the gay community should be given an alternative with the same legal rights as marrage. So instead of a priest, someone else with legal authority can legally bind the gay couple together. So cheer up, it could be worse..

    • blackyoung&gay says:

oh so thats why athiest can’t marry! i get it now! like history ho\as taught us: sperate but equal works!
      (please dectect sarcasm)

    • blackyoung&gay says:

so thats why athiests can’t marry! i get it now! like history has taught us: seperate but equal is acualy equal! (sarcasam)

  77. inthewrongshoes says:

Hahaha… I love you people arguing, it made my day… All the logical failures and little internet victories…
Really, though. People don’t want gays to adopt because they think the kid(s) will be treated as pets, which is funny because obviously they’ve never seem how spoiled their pets are… I know mine is…
And it would help, with all the family-less children…
Won’t someone please think of the poor, sad orphans?

  78. Aubree says:

I would like to make a point… I am in no way trying to smash on “die-hard” Christians, but gays are one of the more natural things that have happened in this world. for all of you believers that say it is unnatural for gays to marry, i don’t remember a whole lot of things in the bible being natural. I.E walking on water, talking snakes, dividing seas’, making a blind man see with nothing but some spit and dirt… yeah because that stuff happens everyday. If GOD didn’t want people to be gay he wouldn’t have made them that way…duh.

  79. SomeBritishGayDude says:

The failed arguments above… have made my month. x’D
Completely bereft of logic and understanding.
Not everyone is religious, not everyone has to follow one religion’s rules.
To be honest, almost everyone is as bad as eachother.
    1) The haters are forcing people to accept their religion as truth.
    2) The defenders are disrespecting other people’s beliefs.
I’m not going to say anything like: “God loves everyone” etc. since I am not religious.
All I’m going to say is: “Gays exist. Deal with it.”

  80. Some-puertorican-strait-chick says:

okay, I would love to sit here and chat about ‘god’ but really I dont care. I am just going to ask a simple question: If God want his children to be happy, and being with the person you love makes you happy, AND you are gay because the same sex makes you happy, the why oh WHY would that piss off God? If he/she had a problem with it then I’m sure we would know by now. And dont say look at all the bad stuff thats been happening latly cuz bad stuff happens all the time, not because two guys are getting hitched.

I fully agree with ‘SomeBritishGayDude’, just deal with it and shut the hell up.

  81. just sayin says:

um…that’s not even how pie graphs work.

  82. Mimi says:

o.O Do people have nothing better to do than try to show how they’re right or wrong to a bunch of trolls? Whether for or against gay marriage, responding to a simple graph so passionately does nothing. If you are passionately for gay marriage, then do something useful with your passion instead of arguing with idiots. Those so passionately against gay marriage, please think before you post. Quoting a bunch of biblical references does nothing when you don’t read the whole passage.

  83. John Hayes says:

    totally true

  84. nonotrly says:

You guys need to quit arguing about gay marriage and realize what’s important: this was posted before, in a better quality I might add. Who let a repost slip?

  85. bad says:

i curse you all with constaption and some of you death

  86. anonymous says:

correct me if i’m wrong but all the graph is saying is that if gays marry, then all that happens is that gays marry – the world won’t come to an end, life goes on as usual… what’s so hateful about that? seems to me that it’s actually pro-gay marriage by showing that those who express their conservative views really will see none of the apocolyptic problems that a lot of them are talking about. just a thought.

  87. Lalaithlin says:

Feel free to debate me on the content that follows these facts:
I love God – I’m Catholic, and enjoy religion……… I am also a *straight* female.
Now I’m going to make a vast contradiction of those facts vie personal philosophy…
Haters of homosexuals from a religious background:
God is love. Yes? Homosexual couples exist due to a bond of love. Therefore because there is *love* in such a relationship – it must be the will of God or involve some divine touch. I have a homosexual, male best friend. He currently has found himself a partner. I literally wept with joy to see them with one another, what they have is absolutely beautiful. I was once attracted to this friend before they came out, and now I feel horrible for ever having such feelings. But it’s because, picturing him as a married man ….someday with his husband, perhaps discussing the topic of his next novel on the best seller list over coffe – how could I ever wish to disrupt such a wonderful future. And homosexuals aren’t lacking in faith! Do you know what they have faith in one another. Such incredible strength to stand together despite the bigotry and hate of those who can’t perceive the beauty through their haze of pre-doctrined thoughts.
If there was no God, and the world was entirely *natural according to biological design * – men and women would inherently seek out the opposite sex. It would be very unlikely for ANY homosexual pairings to occur – a bit of a stretch but still a somewhat logical jump.
    Now the reverse:
God exists – thus god’s indiscriminate love exists. Likewise the bonds of love, a higher force than original biological design exist. That means because of God and the concept of “God is love” men and women can love beyond the limitations of biological design. If anything that would imply that homosexuals are more in tune, spiritually. …
Love between homosexuals springs from the same well-spring as heterosexuals God’s love, and keep in mind the next time you’re bad mouthing a Gay or Lesbian individual……you share the same source.
Not too shabby for the ramblings of a sixteen year old if I do say so myself.

    • youwishIwasyours says:

I like your comment, I do… it’s open and honest, and I respect that. I have one little problem with one of your “facts”:

You stated “If there was no God, and the world was entirely *natural according to biological design * – men and women would inherently seek out the opposite sex. It would be very unlikely for ANY homosexual pairings to occur – a bit of a stretch but still a somewhat logical jump.”

Let’s say there is no god (I didn’t capitilize for a reason) for a second. Logical extension says that animals are natural in their design, and for the most part would be attracted to the opposite sex. Yet every single day we see actions that suggest homosexuality is common in the animal world, a world built on biology and with no higher power. Therefore if it’s common in the animal world, and we as the great apes that we are, are part of the animal world – wouldn’t then homosexuality be perfectly reasonable to expect in human behaviour?

I’m not trying to insult anyone’s beliefs here, I just thought it’s impoartant to point out. Yes, I am human. Yes, I am classified as a great ape – biologically. As are you all.

  92. Odysseus44 says:

Did anyone ever consider that bisexuals just have a higher appreciation for human value than heterosexuals? Because it seems to me that bisexuals just see the value of the person, no matter the gender. People are people; is seeing the good in them all of a sudden wrong? I didn’t think so. Each and everyone of us is one of God’s original masterpiece’s, and appreciating that and loving that is simply being thankful and appreciative of God. So are you all trying to say that is also wrong too? So it seems to me that all the “gay haters” out there are basically just saying that God screwed up on a few of his works, which I’m pretty sure contradicts him being omniscient and omnipotent. So, make up your mind guys. Believe in him or don’t.

  100. anonymous says:

    Except for one minor problem:
If you are not Christian, you probably do not believe Heaven and Hell exist, making the whole thing irrelevant. If they were proven facts, this would make sense, but they are not. Plus, people disagree about who will go to heaven. There are many other religions, many have Heaven-like concepts, and most believe, just as many Christians do, that only members of their faith will go to their version of Heaven, and that other people, including Christians, will go to “Hell”. These religions are just as valid as Christianity. You can say only your god is real, but others say the exact same thing.

  101. RK says:

Exactly, well said. And if there is a God, who wanted to smite me for being gay, wouldn”t he have done it already? Therefore :
~80 Years being myself + infiity wherever I end up, still being myself > ~80 Years hiding who I am + infinity wherever I end up, possibly with a God who hates me but will let me into heaven if I lie about my true nature.

  102. Technowolf says:

people have actually been to hell, brought back to life, and have written a book on it. people have also been to heaven aftera car wreck, and died, gone to heaven, and been brought back to life, and written a book on it. check it out sometime. :)

  104. Shana says:

You really need to do some more research before you talk ;)

  105. Aminatep says:

    Oh, the idiocy.

The same arguments all over again.

“Homosexuality is awesome! Gay people can still technically impregnate or become pregnant, and heterosexual people can share AIDS too, so it’s irrelevant, duhh”

Well, the number of gays who become parents is incredibly low, and the risk of catching AIDS for them is much higher, but these two small facts are ignored for some reason.

  106. Vic says:

    …and your point is…?

In the US gays and lesbians have not been getting married to each other for generations. Perhaps a gay man has married a lesbian to have an “open marriage” and all of that bullshit, but what we are fighting for is the right to marry THE PERSON YOU LOVE, instead of having to lie and cheat.

I don’t see anyone trying to force the acts they indulge in into your everyday conversation, what your whole point is there I simply can not imagine unless it is to conjure up images of fluids and to make sure we all know that you are a straight man who has sex with his wife-in which case, I don’t care.

  107. brett says:

Actually the RISK of catching AIDS is much higher for gay males in rich Western countries only. Lesbians have an even lower rate of AIDS infection than than the general population. Any reputable government health body will tell you this. Today, in the developed and developing world (particularly) young women represent the fastest growing rates of infection. In Africa, spurred on by religious insanity relating to condom use, as well as ill informed government edicts, witch doctor promises, lack of education and outright bigoted fear, the HIV is destroying multiple generations and communities. A common example, village men while working long weekly or monthly stretches in the cities become infected through female prostitutes. When they return, they infect their unsuspecting wives, girlfriends and unborn children. Foul witchdoctor (read “religious leader” by any other name) remedies such as sex with virgins have led to further infections of young girls, gang rape, and rape of infant girls as young as 3 mths old.
“the number of gays who become parents is incredibly low”
How do you know its incredibly low? What is your study indicating this? As low as infertile parents who become adoptive parents? Or as low as single men/women who adopt? Have you thought about the adoption laws at all? Do you have to be married in order to adopt through government agency? Are gays allowed to be married? How long for? Does this explain your “low rate
    Your “facts” need some clarification.
