That is not true, sadly. I study Journalism and most kids these days (darn kids:P) just don't read books anymore - or newspapers/magazines, for that matter. It has to do with having less free time, spending your free time differently/reading less hours, but the main reason is that they don't like reading anymore. There are statistics to prove it... and lots of adults and adolescents also read Rowling (I do, for one:)) So yes, they are reading, but there are less kids who love to read than there are kids who hate it.

Or maybe that's only true for the Dutchies :P

You probably don't like making a scene or make painful effort to be exciting or maybe join the Three Wolf Moon cult.

Why would you need to? You have books.

I'll take that tip about River God, too, thanks.

1. I enjoy those books, and the only reason you could make a comment like that is if you wanted to look cool, or more appropriately like an arrogant jackass. Congrats, you succeeded.

Yes, this graph is fail on so many levels.

As to your reading Atlas Shrugged, I only have this to say:

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Seriously? Insulting much?
I read more real books per year than the average American does in a lifetime. & No, I'm not just talking about Twilight here. Shakespeare, Austen, Shelly, J.R.R. Tolkien, Gaiman, Poe, and C.S. Lewis just to name a few.
Yeah, I DO get on facebook. I enjoy knowing what my friends are up to and keeping in touch with family that lives far away. There's nothing wrong with that.
So suck it. It's not right to generalize and judge just to get a laugh out of a few pretentious jackasses.

First off, before I say anything else, who cares if you don't read Twilight? I'm tired of reading posts going "Oh my God, Twilight is the worst book ever/Twilight shouldn't even be considered a book/etc/etc/etc."
This little message was going to be a whole hell of a lot more vulgar, but upon typing the first sentence, I realized I couldn't cuss on here, so had to rethink what I was going to say, so it's shorter than I want it to be.

Anyway, I'm 17, and pretty much NEVER go on Facebook. I have an account, just like I did with Myspace, but the same thing happened with Facebook that happened with Myspace. I just didn't care about it. I don't need a social network such as Facebook and Twitter and all that crap to keep in touch with friends. Such is what Instant Messengers were created for. The closest thing to a social networking site I went to was Meebo, and they are taking away a pretty large feature to what made them anywhere near a social networking site: their public chatrooms, which I honestly did happen to use.

And I LOVE to read. My whole entire family does. No, I am not going to go on and on about how many so-and-so long paged books I've read. Why? Because it doesn't matter. It doesn't show off my intelligence at all. I read what I like. You don't like it? Who the hell cares? And I will admit, I have read Twilight, and I AM somewhat of a fan, I am not crazed about it. It could have been a lot better, and I don't really care whether you consider them vampires or werewolves or not. She was creative, and all you have to say about it is "Vampires don't sparkle" or "Werewolves don't do that" or whatever it is anyone says about it. So maybe they AREN'T vampires and werewolves. They're entirely new creatures who happen to have similarities. It's also referenced in the last book that the "werewolves" aren't actually werewolves, so are more akin to shape-shifters. Though I hardly believe anyone cares about that.

Either way, I don't have much more to say, yaddayadda, TL;DR, whatever.

And I LOVE to read. My whole entire family does. No, I am not going to go on and on about how many so-and-so long paged books I’ve read. Why? Because it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t show off my intelligence at all. I read what I like. You don’t like it? Who the hell cares? And I will admit, I have read Twilight, and I AM somewhat of a fan, I am not crazed about it. It could have been a lot better, and I don’t really care whether you consider them vampires or werewolves or not. She was creative, and all you have to say about it is “Vampires don’t sparkle” or “Werewolves don’t do that” or whatever it is anyone says about it. So maybe they AREN’T vampires and werewolves. They’re entirely new creatures who happen to have similarities. It’s also referenced in the last book that the “werewolves” aren’t actually werewolves, so are more akin to shape-shifters. Though I hardly believe anyone cares about that.

Either way, I don’t have much more to say, yaddayadda, TL;DR, whatever.

Apparently my hatred of Facebook and use of the word 'dig' is giving me away for the crotchety old man that I am at heart. Loving these comments.

I'm only 20, but my years working in the library have taught me to hate the literature-minded teen. They're creepy, greasy little people who will request a long list of vampire-inspired novels without blinking.

Of course, then you have your bibliophilic teen who swears against anything remotely close to vampires, werewolves, regular wolves, or wizardry in a bizarre crusade against the 'Young Adult Fiction' section. These kids usually use a lot of swear words and try to bum coffee and cigarettes from the librarian.

There are those certain teenagers that make the rest of us look bad . . . I mean, sure, about a year ago, almost everyone I knew loved Twilights. But now, no one reads books about sparkly woodland fairies (I'm looking at you, Edward Cullen).
And what's up with the quotes? Who says "dig" anymore? Which books does this person consider "real books?"
