  1. hlaode says:

    Seems about right actually.

    • Wspek says:

      yup, nothing to add really

    • urine idiot says:

You DO realize that by believing this crap you’re showing that the plan to dumb down people to the point of becoming another 3rd world country is working, right? Just checking.

      • Jen says:

How about we all stop all the name-calling, and instead switch to reasonable debate, so that we can make educated decisions when we vote that actually mean something? For instance: Urine, why would anyone in America, especially those in office, want to turn us into a third world country, when they would be completely undermining themselves? And, while I understand the desire to rein in Federal spending, what is the harm in doing your personal best to “go green” (switching off the lights, turning off the water, or even using solar panels)? Global Warming (whether you believe in it or not) isn’t the only bi-product of pollution, and for an individual, taking steps that reduce your personal carbon footprint can save you a lot of money in reduced utility bills, etc.

        • Falthron says:

Persoanlly I don’t believe in man made global warming(to the extent that is being said according to Al Gore) after ClimateGate. But You do have a point. I really see no problem with acting “greener.” Because pollutants DO get into and contaminate water. Places such as Manilla having dangerously high pollution levels. But I still don’t agree with “carbon taxes” or taxes that have to do with the environment. Sorry I just don’t.

          • Jen says:

I definitely get that. I’m not a fan of new taxes, and I’d like to limit government power as much as possible. But I do feel that some amount of government regulation is necessary when it comes to businesses and the environment (especially big ones). Businesses don’t always behave ethically of their own free will (look at some of the crazy stuff that went down shortly after the Industrial Revolution), and it is usually, at least in the short-term, much less expensive for them to just keep dumping rather than establishing better systems for waste disposal.

            • Tina says:

Please read the proposed bill on Carbon taxes and what the EPA wants to do to regulate “carbon emissions”. Even President Obama stated, “energy prices would necessarily have to skyrocket” to comply with his proposals. Businesses may not always behave ethically, but governments have shown 100% of the time that the more power granted to them is abused and used to eventually hurt the people. How much more corruption in government do you have to see?? PLEASE read history; more government does not work.

              • Lizard King says:

Wait… going green = being corrupt and hurting people? Obvious troll is obvious.

                • Lucas says:

Depends on how you look at it. If you think we should switch all of our fuel to less polluting ethanol to combat “global warming” while there is a confirmed global food crisis, then yes it is rather hurting to people. My dad works in the process of coal transport, so yes if this “Cap & Trade” process was to come into effect, it would harm us pretty badly.

          • aaron m says:

Basically going green is all a trend. people do it because its hip. i realzed its all a trend after michael jackson died. when christmas came, most people didnt care about michael jackson. after the earthquakes in haiti and the dominican republic, everyone pitched in to help them out (no one cared about the dominicans though) but right after the superbowl, we all strayed away from that topic. it’s all a trend

            • toria says:

The actual “image” itself and the way it’s publicised is certainly a trend. I find it ridiculous that here in the UK we are told such things as “turn off your lights when you aren’t using them” and “use energy saving bulbs” and “turn off appliances at the plug when you go to bed”… etc. Who the hell doesn’t? I have always done this, and been brought up to do it, because it saves you money anyway!

I hate the hysteria surrounding climate change and global warming but there’s no doubt that something’s up. And there’s no sense in adding to it through sheer dumb laziness when it’s easy to do a few little things. As far as I’m concerned, I have always done this – it’s called using your head.

            • Steph says:

The quake was on the Haitian side of the island, about as far from the Dominican Republic as possible, as I recall. Also, due to the devastating amount of deforestation – man made – the ground soil on the Haitian side of the island was much less stable, therefore even if the quake had hit the island dead center, the damage done to the Haitian side would have been far greater than any obtained by the Dominican Republic. It’s not that people don’t care about them; this disaster struck Haiti and it’s greatest effect was felt in Haiti. And if caring about other people and wanting to help your fellow man is this years biggest trend, than by God I hope that everyone drops their “look how different and out of the mainstream” personality type and jumps on this train. I hope it becomes cool and trendy to donate time, money, and supplies to help people in the worst of situations – better yet if such shallow things such as border, race, religion, and political believes play little to no part compared to the mere fact that they are human. I hope every hipster and jock and goth type get in on this and decide it’s worth their time to help alleviate some of the suffering of this world.

What a lame excuse for not believing in something. Oh, it’s trendy so I refuse to “go green”. Oh, charities? God, how trendy can you be? You’re just another sheep, following the crowd as they go caring about others and the world around them. Yes, heaven forbid you do something good for others simply because someone out there might think that – gasp – you’re just following a trend when it’s obvious you are so above the rest of us blind follows of fashion.

Other trends taking over our cultural consciousness include: living healthy, diversity, equality… Are these all things you also refuse to partake in? Because let me tell you, I can hardly turn on the TV without having some show throw in my face that there are black people out there and some of them are actually friends with white people. Or that running and keeping an active lifestyle makes you “cool”.

You know, not all trends are inherently bad. Does the fact that these things are currently trendy devalue their benefits in anyway? If you have a person who donated used clothes because they’ve been raised to always help and the person who donated used clothes because they heard about it on their favorite TV show and thought, yeah, that sounded like a cool way to help – are the latter person’s clothes somehow worse? I mean, really, are you so against the idea of trends that you would rather watch people and the planet suffer than do some good? Are you that wrapped up in your own image?

              • Lizard King says:

What Steph is trying to do in a tl;dr post is saying that just because something is trendy, does not mean it’s not incredibly useful and helpful for all mankind.

        • -_- says:

why would anyone in America, especially those in office, want to turn us into a third world country

Why don’t you ask the people in Russia, Cuba, China, Venezuela etc etc?
It’s called Communism, Marxism, socialism, whatever ism, it is what is happening and the fact that so many IDIOTS don’t see it is another reason the whole “global warming” SCAM has been so successful.
As far as “going green” goes, unless you’re Al Gore and can afford a $2000 electric bill, turning off lights etc is just common sense, only mindless morons need the government telling them that. People who follow the whole “do as I say, not as I do mentality are the reason huge countries can be over run by communism. By the way, only 30 years ago, the exact same people claiming we’re all going to die from warming were saying the next ice age was weeks away. If you actually believe them now, I’m sorry but you really are pathetic. All these tactics are clearly laid out in numerous books as are all the things that are going on in the “government” now, so unless the people who wrote the books could see the future, the blatantly obvious reality is that those books are being followed, step by step to destroy the country and the world economy.

          • >. says:

And only 60 years ago, people were saying America would soon be overrun by Commy-Marxist-Socialists, but you seem to believe the “exact same people” who are saying that today…

            • ummmm says:

60 years ago, people were saying the WORLD was being over run by communism, not the US and they were RIGHT, ever hear of the Korean and Vietnam wars to STOP THE SPREAD OF COMMUNISM? Communism has killed more people than all wars COMBINED so those of you who don;t think it’s a problem need to wake the fvck up.
Marxist principles are very easy to spot and when someone is following the Communist Manifesto word for word, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out the real goal. Made up “crisis” is all part of the plan as is overwhelming the welfare system, aka “health care reform” Get a clue.

              • Xenon says:

Communism is the perfect society. The problem is when humans get involved. We screw it all up.

Democracy, also perfect until we get involved. Hell, national socialism, by my limited understanding of it, also is perfect UNTIL HUMANS USE THE SYSTEM. Humans screw all systems up. There is no system that is better than any others (except some which are outright stupid). So stop being McCarthy’s deformed lovechild and do some reading.

                • Lizard King says:

Exactly! Communism doesn’t suck, people do! Truth is no one wants to study 5 years and become a doctor to earn the same as a baker (no offense, bakers rule). That’s where communism FAILS.

              • Ihihihi says:

                gngngngnBWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

You are hillarious, is that part of your stand-up routine? Which club do you play at usually? I need to see a live performance of sarcasm of this caliber!

              • PhoenixM says:

Made up crisis? Oh, you must be referring to George W. “Iraq has WMDs!” Bush.

          • hlaode says:

Um… Could I buy some acid from you? You seem like you know how to find the good stuff.

          • Go-Greener From Europe says:

Well… here in Europe the environment is in MUCH better shape than in the US and our carbon dioxide output is far lower than yours in the U.S. BUT the living standards, health care, incomes are higher in average, crime lower than in the U.S. – we live greener AND better – how does this work? I don’t see any commies, most european countries are ruled by middle-to-rightwing parties (and have been since the 70s)

The american problem is that everything that would help and do things better is automatically something socialist, marxist or so…

Unbelievable. Again and again. Watching the U.S. doing the same mistakes all over again… Unbelievable…

            • The Gr8 One says:

Not all of us in America are like that. Some of are smart people. Pray for us smart people.

              • Go-Greener says:

                I do, I promise.

Sometimes the clever people just have to go Zombie-Killing ;)

              • Lizard King says:

Reason you are not a smart person: you pray. Lulz
                Flying Spaghetti Monster FTW
Srsly now, I don’t think most Americans even know wth communism is. Socialism never destroyed a country, yet you fear it like the Plague.

                • Zersk says:

The first part of your post, no matter how right the rest of it was, made your post suddenly meaningless.

                  Meaningless!

                  MANLINESS!!!

            • Mike F says:

This is a late response but, ARE U SERIOUS.. your countries are smaller than our states! You dont produce anything! Remember there wouldnt be a europe if not for the US and our evil industrializing and stopping the Nazis (from your perfect Europe). Much easier to say your greener when each country is the size or delaware.

              • Xenon says:

Remember, there wouldn’t be an America if not for Europe (and I think the American Indians would be glad for that).

              • Revenge says:

Carbon emissions are measured in relation to the population. Also, most European countries are a lot bigger than we think. (FYI, with one glance at a map, you can tell that the UK is about the size of Florida, not that you’d know, since you’ve clearly never looked at one.) Europe produces quite a bit too, foodstuffs, cars, electronics, textiles, the list goes on. And as for world war II? Give me a break. I’m American, but I’m not stupid enough to act like we won the war alone. How about the Russians? (oooohh… communists… scary) Or the British who kept fighting even after suffering through the blitz? Or all those other countries around the world who weren’t even directly threatened but pitched in anyway? There’s a reason it was called a World War instead of the “America saves everybody’s butts war and all those thousands of soldiers who sacrificed their lives don’t matter unless they were doing it for Uncle Sam because we’re special that way” war. Back on topic, we don’t have a good excuse for being morons, this country is incredibly backwards for a developed nation and we need to grow up and take some responsibility for ourselves.
(Yes I am a total nerd, who probably spent half an hour on this post, double checking facts and proofreading, that’s what you get for y’know, behaving like an intelligent person. Actually, wait on second thought, you probably wouldn’t know.)

          • The Gr8 One says:

            Paranoid troll is paranoid.

          • RJ says:

” If you actually believe them now, I’m sorry but you really are pathetic.”

What? I researched climate change while in graduate school and wrote a paper on how the Earth is warming and have DATA to back it up. Now, the Earth is helping itself to warm up quite a bit but the discussion among us intelligent researchers is usually what percentage is man putting into the equation. Some say 5% and I have talked to some that believe it is up to 20%. I think it is around 12% based on amount of forest lost and production, etc. This could raise the temperature a degree or so when figured in. Now, the Earth is warming, but are we speeding it up? Personally, I think so, but only changing when certain species will die out and the climate changes drastically by about 100 years or so.

The Earth is warming. And don’t call names or assume your audience.

          • Bhazor says:

“By the way, only 30 years ago, the exact same people claiming we’re all going to die from warming were saying the next ice age was weeks away.”

No, you’re confusing a misquoted Time article with a century of peer reviewed research. Even when temperatures were in decline in the late 70s (which was when solar output declined) there were still predictions that global temperatures would rise.

Do a youtube search for “3 – Climate Change — Anatomy of a myth”.

        • williek1 says:

Are you perchance related to Al Gore??

        • that guy says:

          tl;dr

    • Bernardo says:

I think that the one who did this graph forgot about the south hemisphere (Brazil, for example). Here, in July we have the most cold days of the year. This is a reason of why the world believe that americans are ignorant and self-centred.

      • Xenon says:

I love how everyone assumes the graph maker is an American. That’s your own prejudices showing, you know.

Hell, if I was making this graph, it likely wouldn’t occur to me, because I’m not used to thinking otherwise (though I am aware of the difference). Neither would a lot of people. It probably works the other way, too.

    • asdf says:

Are any of you guys taxpayers? In Europe? Just wondering. Because I am.

This is plain wrong. People here (Belgium) are worried about real issues, a GM factory has closed down, Carrefour, a supermarket chain, is laying off people, we are about to reach a million unemployed (out of a population of 10 mil.) and you fanboys are worried about a non issue.

These guys were caught red-handed lying.

After that the UN’s IPCC admitted that:

-The glaciers in the Himalayas, South America and the snow in Africa are not melting,
-Sea levels are not going to rise.

The way I see it, the only issue here is carbon credits (cap and trade for you in the U.S.), worth trillions already.

I understand that Dr Pachauri is laughing all the way to the bank.

Anyway, I hope you have children while it’s still free. This is the next carbon tax coming up, google “optimum population trust”.

      Goodnight and good luck.

P.S.: The inconvenient truth is out now.

      • killjoy says:

True. While half the population my country is being brainwashed by stupid greedy politicians who make this stuff up so they can get power, our economy is taking a dump and ridiculous taxes and environmental laws are imposed while an increasing number of crack heads dependent on welfare live on my tax dollars.

I still like my country but I swear its full of idiots. I just hope we don’t jack things up like the soviets did.

        • The Gr8 One says:

I’d rather my tax dollar go to help people who really need it than deny anyone help just because some abuse it.

      • Ahaha says:

The level of intelligence (or lack thereof) shown by your posting makes it very clear why you are worried about the reduction of low-wage, low-qualification jobs.

Here’s a hint: Being bitter does not make up for being dumb. (Actually, that’s a wisdom for many of the right-wing facists in the US – I believe they call themselves ‘conservatives’)

  2. Gene says:

    …wait, then conservatives aren’t Americans?

  3. Shadowbane509 says:

Wait, so when did we do this? I’m at the “I need to limit my carbon footprint.”

    • Al Gore says:

So stop breathing, problem solved, tell all your retar…I mean enlightened friends to do it too, together we can make a difference.
My house is 80 degrees, more proof!

  4. Ryan says:

I think that “Everyone else” label needs changed to “Moronic Communist Liberals”.

    • Al Gore says:

Are you saying people that listen to me are morons too? That’s not very nice, I’ve made billions off you saps…I mean moro…I mean concerned citizens, global warming is real, santa says his ice is melting so that’s proof enough for me.

      • Al Gore says:

Pay no attention to the thermometer, we’re all gonna melt when the snow does….in june, I swear, I got straight Ds in college so I know everything!

        • Mikehunt says:

Actually, you forgot that you flunked out of Divinity school ( which you used as a way to get you out of Vietnam early). So there were some F’s there too. I think EWAdams made this graph.

      • Jesus says:

Yep, this is correct. I know because I’m just as real as Santa.

        • Crittervet says:

LMAO!!! Thank you. A funny little comment! Loved it!

        • wow adict says:

pardon me if im ruining a funy comment but i am a athist and even i exept the evidence jesus existed BUT he wasnt the sun of god and didnt come back to life

        • Darwin says:

Listen to this guy, I should know. It’s not like a big reason that I got the idea was because my child died and I wasn’t thinking when I thought of it.

Seriously, it doesn’t seem that funny. Stop it.

    • The Gr8 One says:

I don’t know any moronic communist liberals. I do know several liberals who know what’s best for this country better than you do.

      • Lucas says:

Lol I actually do know one… but she’s moving to France so oh well. On another note, who are you to say what is best for our country? I take into consideration all possibilities from both sides and make my decision, be open minded about it.

  5. Haruhi Suzumiya says:

Climate change, meh. You should all be thinking about who would win in a fight between a ninja-turned-pirate and a pirate-turned-ninja.

  6. Ariadne says:

Good graphic, it just ignores that the green line would be upside down in the south hemisphere.

  7. kjhvkuy says:

i’m an american and i just think we should be watching what we do, not necessarily spending a bunch of money on it instead of paying off our debt to china. plus al gore *is* a moron.

    • Jen says:

I agree with your first sentence. We need to bring our economy back up to speed, and start paying back China. I wanted to ask about your second comment, though – I hear a lot of people say that about Al Gore, but so far, when I’ve researched the accusations against him, I’ve found them all to be misrepresentations by his political opponents (i.e. I found the quote about the Internet that he’s gotten so much flack for – He never claimed to have invented the Internet, he said that he took the initiative in the early legislation surrounding the Internet). What has he done that is so moronic?

  8. Communism's kinda alright, you know. says:

People who don’t believe in global warming are not the most intelligent people on the surface of the Earth. Global warming doesn’t just mean our summers will be warmer and there will be some more water here and there.

  9. Alex says:

The ignorance of what global warming is here astounds me. Guys if you’re really going to be for OR against something, please at least know what it is you’re talking about. o_O

  10. Stupid Graph says:

This graph is wrong, not the entire wolrd is in summer during july u knw?

  11. Patriot says:

    Not good ones.

  12. Qumefox says:

Remember it’s not ‘Global warming’ anymore. The proponents were finally forced to change their name for it after being forced to admit the planet is actually cooling slightly. It’s ‘man made climate change’ now.

Al gore is a moron, but I do agree we’re probably killing the planet slowly. However I don’t think we’re anywhere near the point that would require lobotomizing the nations economy like the liberals seem to want with cap&tax.. I mean cap&trade. I think minor emissions restriction adjustments would have an effect, without putting the whole US energy sector in the unemployment line.

    • Xenon says:

Actually, global warming would cause global cooling. Watch The Day After Tomorrow. Yes, I know, it’s not exactly the greatest film out there, but it did have some actual science in it.

    • PhoenixM says:

It still is Global Warming. The proponents are using “Climate Change” more often these days because of the intellectually-challenged who can’t get it through their heads that a *local* cold spell doesn’t mean that the average *global* temperature isn’t increasing.

  13. Friend of Stupid Graph says:

ok – yeah i know taht we’re killing the planet, but even if I’m American doesn’t mean it’s ALL THE AMERICANS fault fyi. you ever heard of all those factories in china (nothing against china). and not everyone in America is having a freak out over global warming – most people barely ever pay attnetion to it.
AL GORE YOU ARE A MORON!!!!

  14. RiderLeangle says:

You forgot to put in a line for people who think al gore is a moron about this all year round

  15. REx says:

Sorry, but you folks in the GW crowd shot themselves in the foot. Year ago the talk from your side *WAS* of the “hooter summers and milder winters” type. “The planet has a fever” didn’t help. It also does not help when you make predictions, and reality goes the other way, you say, oh, well, yeah, that’s what we *meant* to predict.

And I have family in Europe and friends in many parts of the world. The skepticism is hardly unique to the USA. Yet another anti-American, hatemongering bigotry *FAIL*. Large parts of the world don’t even think about climate change as they are too busy living day to day. Climate worries are the province of pampered, Western ideologues.

    • gdaymate says:

Ironic, because if there is catastrophic climate change, the pampered western idealogues and the west in general will surf through it just fine. Those large parts of the world who don’t pay heed to global warming because they don’t live in an industrialised country are the ones who will suffer the most.

    • Dina says:

I was about to say… I know plenty of Australian global warming deniers.

    • Jazz says:

      Hooter summers?! HELL YEAH!!
I’m burning down a forest right now!

  16. goose says:

ok, just saying, i’m an american, and i have ALWAYS that al gore was a moron. global warming may be happening, but it’s happened before – it’s a natural fluctuation that has been recorded many times in history. a little fact – one volcanic eruption spews out about as much crap into the atmosphere as a year of america’s industrial pollution. and to be frank, most americans don’t give a damn about anything except football and reality television (vomits).

    • Xenon says:

Maybe so, but most of the other climate changes I know about kind of resulted in EXTINCTIONS. Whether or not it’s our fault (and it is partly our fault), I’d kind of like to stop it from happening.

      • Gladiator763 says:

I’d be curious to see whether or not you believe in evolution and natural selection, and how those views mesh with what you’re claiming here.

        • Xenon says:

Some species can survive wildly different environments, others can’t. Evolution and natural selection are not mutually exclusive with global warming/cooling.

    • Anonymoose says:

Most Americans only care about football and reality television? Wow. I hate both of those things and, while I do know some football enthusiasts, I don’t know many people who don’t hate reality tv. What bubble are you living in you poor dear? You need to burst that thing and move to where normal people live.
As to Algore and AGW: Gore is a moron and I believed that long before he claimed the earth was warming. The IPCC has had to backtrack on nearly ALL of its claims since “Conservatives” have been shining a light on the issue. Oh, and I love how all the warmers will accept whatever the IPCC says. For example the IPCC used to declare that Global Warming will mean more hurricanes and now it’s saying that Global Warming will mean fewer hurricanes, but it never deters warmers from saying the “science is settled” – really? It doesn’t sound settled to me. It’s like seeing 1984 in real life. “We have always been at war with Eurasia and allied with Eastasia”, but the news now says the opposite so, “We have always been at war with Eastasia and allied with Eurasia”. BAAAAA! The sheeple amaze me. Oh look! There goes another one off the cliff! Anyone up for some lamb stew?

      • Xenon says:

You do realise that 1984 LOVED to rewrite history, right? :P

      • The Gr8 One says:

Yes, because science never changes, right? They could never learn something new about global warming or climate change or whatever. No, since it might negatively affect the economy and they didn’t have it 100% right from the get go it must all be a complete hoax. Quick! Everyone start polluting as much as possible! It’s fun!

    • Bhazor says:

“a little fact – one volcanic eruption spews out about as much crap into the atmosphere as a year of america’s industrial pollution.”

No it doesn’t. Humans produce around 13000% more CO2 per year than the output of all volcanoes combined.

Also the earth is eating whilst the other two great forcing effects (solar output and geothermal activity) remain constant with solar output actually falling for the past 6 years. So yes temperature changes occur naturally. But that doesn’t mean this one is.

  17. V Gard says:

    so Concervatives arn’t Americans? Interesting….

  18. Mcgyvr says:

i don’t care about the political implications here, I just lol’d.

  19. Berenaltorin says:

    What I see here:
All Americans are reactionary idiots, but at least conservatives are somewhat consistent in their reactionary idiocy, and everyone who is not American is fairly even-tempered but spend all of their time thinking about how the ‘world leaders’ need to solve the problem of global warming that Americans only believe exist half of the time. Oh, and conservatives aren’t American.
    No lol here, just fail.

  20. Siegfried says:

Though the choice of wording does imply a bias, based on the graph, you really can’t say the graph itself is another “go green” rant. It could just as easily be interpreted as a conservative calling everyone else sheeple. about the only universal negative is the “americans” line, because lets face it, the country is full of trend following morons. My lovely country has the attention span of a kid with ADHD, off his meds, chugging pixie sticks and red bull, loose in a Toys R Us.

Hey! I resent your last li — ooh, look a squirrel! I’m gonna go chase it! Wait. What was I saying? Oh, right, I really resent your last — ooh, look a red camaro! Shiny! :D

  21. Nathan says:

It’s not JUST that this graph is ill-informed and wrongheaded; it also has an obvious bias and agenda. While stewardship of our planet is important, the AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) believers would take it further – Expand government, hamstring our economy, push up fuel prices, and give government agencies unprecedented power to regulate our lives.

The climate statistics were flawed, the data has been faked, the errors have been covered up, and the supposed science should be questioned and doubted. Silly graphs like this play on old myths, and make the Global Warming bogeyman look all the more desperate.

If it’s warmer, it’s global warming, if it’s cooler, it’s global warming, if the sky’s blue, it’s global warming…..AGW has now crossed over to blind faith: “It’s true ’cause it’s true ’cause it’s true! How dare you question!”

    • Falthron says:

I agree. Don’t forget the timeline here. First we were worried about global cooling form pollutants blocking the sun. Now there is global warming in the green house affect. Now were getting the coldest weather in awhile in America and that is also because of Global warming, so essentially becuse the globe is warming we are getting colder… Wait what?

      • Starcat says:

Ah yes… The massive snowfall in D.C. and all points south…

Never mind that us folks in New England only got rain.

I dare those guys in D.C. to come a few hundred miles up the coast and claim that climate change is a hoax. I WISH someone could rig weather like that.

    • Jerry says:

While it may be nice to be able to spout out simplistic talking points like that, it’s not the whole truth.
While we may honesty disagree on what the best way is to reduce carbon emissions, you cannot seriously believe that carbon regulation would “hamstring our economy, push up fuel prices, and give government agencies unprecedented power to regulate our lives.’ How ironic that this is the same kind of complaint that people just like you made when the Clean Air Act was being debated. How about that hamstrung economy because of cleaner air now, huh? ;) If you’re gonna debate something like this, don’t just repeat crap that you heard on Fox, okay? Do some research and get some facts, which brings me to my next point.
The data on climate change was never ‘faked’–what happened was that researchers tried to keep opposing data from being published, which of course is a serious breach of professional ethics. However, this has happened before from the other side, too; namely during the Bush Administration, when climate data was suppressed in government reports. And even if the data were false from that one report, there are dozens of other institutions also showing the same trends. Surely you’re not accusing ninety percent of the world’s climatologists to be in some evil conspiracy to force global warming on us.
Finally, I hope you realize that climate change is not defined by a single year’s temperatures, or even a few years. Look at the larger trends and you will realize that average temperatures have increased over the last few decades. Not only that, the climate change theory is not just based on warming, but also more extreme weather in general (e.g. more rain in rainy areas, less rain in dry areas, or perhaps even a complete turnaround where rainy areas become dry and dry areas become wet).
So the next time you try to debate something, please don’t just post a rant of partisan politics and talking points. Be reasonable and perhaps even find some facts and data for yourself. If everyone did that, I can guarantee that the world would be so much better and politics so much less rancid today.

      • maestro says:

        (applause)

      • The Gr8 One says:

Nope. It snowed somewhere in the world today, so clearly global warming is fake. /sarcasm

      • Crono141 says:

Difference is, complying with clean air act meant cleaner burning coal, scrubbing smokestacks, going to unleaded gas, etc. The ONLY way to reduce carbon is by burning less. And since no new nuclear plants have been built in the US in going on 40 years, the reduction of carbon will directly mean an increase in energy prices, including but not limited to the electric bill, natural gas bill, gasoline and diesel bill. And as energy prices go up, so too will the price of everything else, since overhead costs on shipping, refridgeration, and storage now also increase. And all that is before the carbon tax actually kicks in. That will just add insult to injury.

And all for what? Possibly reducing global temperatures by a fraction of 1 degree C, 100 years from now? It doesn’t make economic sense. We, and the whole world, would be better off economically by adapting to any adverse effects of climate change, if there are any, than trying to mitigate and prevent it.

Limiting carbon consumption just doesn’t make any sense, even if its causing slight global temperature rise, a conclusion which is now in question.

  22. Scott says:

Also the guy (whos name evades me) who made the Theory of GW also just admited that he couldn’t support that artificial carbon (man made) was affecting the climate. Also since we are on the subject can anyone explain to me what kind of GW caused the ice age to end and if you cannot explain that please don’t call me a denying right wing nutballs conservative. I have questions as well but answers are above my pay grade it seems.

    • Scott says:

oh also has anyone every taken in account our solar systems star activity during these phases of warming/cooling be great to know as well.

      • forge says:

The current climate trend is going against the cycle that has appeared to have been caused by sunspot activity but yes, thanks for mentioning it.

    • Xenon says:

If I remember my science classes correctly, and I’ll admit that I’m a little fuzzy on it and we never got much discussion on this topic, the Ice Age cooled the globe (obviously) and froze a lot of it so there was a constant layer of ice. The sunlight hit that and part of it reflected off the ice. Part of THAT bounced off the atmosphere, hit the ice again, reflected, reflected off the atmosphere, reflected off the ice, et cetera. That all culminated in a very slow global warming that eventually melted the ice and, with nothing to reflect off as much, the planet didn’t go too far in the other direction. I think that’s it, anyway.

  23. jefftoaster says:

Ya know – some of us have been practicing this so called “green” stuff for years – just under the guise of common sense. People’s arrogance that somehow they can “save the planet” from the “horrific acts” of the previous generation is just plain moronic.

  24. Igetstabby says:

  25. Atchy says:

This is the most well thought out graph on this site for a very long time.

  26. Jerry says:

Okay, I see a lot of people being stupid here. First off, why does it seem that everyone who does not believe in global warming immediately stoops to “OMFG you’re all sheep!!!” and “This graph is fake and gay!!!”? Can we be reasonable about this?
The huge preponderance of scientific evidence does point toward global climate change being real, and the graph of increasing temperatures does match quite nicely with the graph of carbon emissions and atmospheric carbon concentrations. Also, a single cold winter does not mean that climate change is wrong, just as a single extraordinarily hot summer would not prove it right. The thing to look at here is general trends, and the temperature has been trending upwards. Not only that, the climate change theory is not just based on warming, but also more extreme weather in general (e.g. more rain in rainy areas, less rain in dry areas, or perhaps even a complete turnaround where rainy areas become dry and dry areas become wet).
For those of you who would point toward the ‘Climategate’ scandal to say that the evidence is fabricated, I have two things to say. Firstly, the emails found do now show any data being made up or edited. Although it does show that studies with opposing conclusions may have been stifled, I can point out that the exact same thing happened on a much larger scale during the Bush Administration, where evidence for global warming was omitted from national reports on climate change. Secondly, even if it were true that the evidence was false, that center was just one of dozens of institutions reporting on the trends. Almost all of them agree that global warming is real.
Also, you may call Al Gore an idiot (and that guy up there who posted comments under ‘Al Gore’ is really just a retard), he is not the only person speaking out in order to raise awareness of climate change.
It’s not like the scientists are trying to force policy down your throat. Everyone has different ideas about how to reverse the trend while not harming out economy, but we can all agree that we should act. Green energy initiatives and energy conservation should be supported by all. And while we may differ on how to encourage people to change their habits, we can all agree that something needs to change.
While conservatives may call us blind communist sheep, who is really more blind? The ones who see the storm coming and

    • Jerry says:

    • Rid says:

The people who buy this nonsense need to learn the facts. Ive noticed that 90% of the arguments for that global warming is real come directly from Al gore. Try asking real scientists, and not greedy politicians who ride in gas guzzling CO2 barfing private jets while they shout out this ridiculous crap about global warming. You’ll find that those who have done some logical scientific studies have found this “Global warming warming” to be BS.

Caring for the environment is a different thing, we should all care for the earth and we have made some improvements. Humans have made serious mistakes not being good to the earth. (the pollution is still very bad in Russia because of the communists terrible environmental practices) However, these theoretical stories with no real proof or evidence should not be bough into.

      • PhoenixM says:

None of the arguments for global warming come from Al Gore. The arguments come from scientists; Al Gore is simply the first American politician who got noticed for trying to bring global warming to everyone’s attention.

You’ll find that those who have done some logical scientific studies have found this “Global warming” to be false. Enviornmentalists who believe this can be very stupid sometimes. One day im told that the earth is heating up and all the glaciers and ice caps are melting, the next Im told were headed for a major ice age by the same people.

Caring for the environment is a different thing, we should all care for the earth and we have made some improvements. Humans have made serious mistakes not being good to the earth. (the pollution is still very bad in Russia because of the communists terrible environmental practices) However, these theoretical stories with no real proof or evidence should not be bought into.

So while AL Gore was making this stuff up so he could have more political power, many people immediately believed it. The rest of us who actually had some intelligence were concerned about real problems, such as terrorists who want to kill every one of us.

As for this graph, the “everyone else” part is wrong. Nearly every non American in the world is aware that global warming is bullocks.

  27. Lolman says:

I’m looking at this. Drinking a Coke. Being an american. Laughing at it.

Not the joke. The people who want to discuss it all and get stressed out over a silly graph that’s a joke.

I plan to recycle the can when I’m done with this coke.

    XD

    • Xenon says:

Thank you, Lolman. This IS a serious subject and it DOES need discussion, but people seem to forget that this is a comedy site. There are hundreds of forums dedicated to global warming. We really should be discussing it there. … he says after contributing to the discussion… >_>

    • forge says:

Public recycling programs are nothing but a way to siphon money out of municipalities and into the hands of people who give cash to politicians. Recycling that can isn’t going to do diddly squat for anyone or anything else except those people.

      • Xenon says:

It will stop landfills being filled up with crap that isn’t needed. Learn some basic facts about recycling before you make moronic comments.

        • Anonymoose says:

Facts like my home state doesn’t actually recycle anything even though recycling is now the law? Facts like much of the stuff you recycle actually DOES end up in a landfill because it isn’t actually recyclable? Did you know those numbers inside the cute little arrows indicate whether the item is recyclable (shockingly few items are) and that most of the products you buy that are “made from recyclable materials” are either no longer recyclable or are only made from about 10% recyclabes – meaning that 90% is NEW materials? Facts like what IS recyclable is often sold to China to be recycled into non-recyclable stuff to be sold back to the US? You might want to heed your own advice Xenon.

Or get a haircut to remove that wool from your eyes. Baaaa! :p

          • Xenon says:

That’s the US. Why do you assume everyone knows (or cares) about the inner workings of absolutely everything there? I can’t even tell you which party Barack Obama belongs to. In England, we actually do recycle properly (either that, or it’s been hidden a lot better).

But you are right, I probably do need a haircut. Damn curls.

I always see people moaning about how horrible taxes are and how evil more taxation will be such as a carbon tax or environmental taxation.

I don’t get it. Tax is the best money most people ever spend, it does a lot more good than just about any charity (economies of scale and the multiplier effect, if you don’t know what those are look ‘em up then come back and say I’m wrong) .

There is a clear correlation between countries with higher taxation and a higher standard of living. Norway, Sweden, Australia all top the highest living standards lists and the high taxation lists. I guess trickle down Reaganism doesn’t really trickle down much now does it? Your country has become blinded by an irrational fear of socialism, Government and taxation. Fight back. Before that desert in the farmlands spreads too far and the mighty Mississippi dries up/toxifies.

  30. cowlifornia says:

:( someone had to post a global Varming chart… no fun at all and a pointless argument, seeing as it can’t be proven.

    • Xenon says:

*sighs* I really, REALLY wish people would learn that all lot of science is unprovable so far. It’s based on theories which are in turn based on evidence supporting that theory. If it’s not based on evidence, no-one gives a damn. This holds true for every major dispute about science, most of which is held by people who very clearly failed their science exams. Evolution, global warming, black holes, time travel, all of these are great targets for the ignorant majority and all of them are stopping or slowing down the scientists trying to DO THEIR JOBS and prove or disprove the freaking theory.

      • cowlifornia says:

Just like gravity is only a theory.

Meh, I’ve had too many laughs off of the comments to argue over fake reports.

      • Moniker says:

The problem is when the evidence supporting the theory is cherry picked or massaged, or counter evidence is ignored or suppressed. The proper scientific response would be modification of the theory. Granted that goes both ways.

      • wow adict says:

ther is an entire science based on what cant be proven (theoretical physics)

        • Xenon says:

There is an entire language that uses apostrophes (English).

And what makes you think that wasn’t included in my post? It’s only theoretical NOW. As our understanding of the universe grows, it will become less so. At one time, gravity was theoretical.

  32. JJ says:

Let’s take into consideration that the vast majority of the “rest of the world” doesn’t really care about global warming and what their respective governments are doing about it, most people are just struggling to put food on the table for their families, they don’t really care about politics.

Then, let’s also take into consideration that nature is cyclical. Proven cases of global warming have shown to be beneficial to mankind (isn’t it good that we are no longer in one of the four different ice ages that have been “proven” to exist in the history of the earth?). Also consider that one medium-sized volcano exploding puts more contaminants in the air than all the vehicles ever driven have put into the air.

Then, let’s try to ignore the facts that “climate change” supporters keep getting proven over and over again to ignore facts that don’t support their theories, use bad data (such as sensors that are next to buildings and can be affected by their man-made surroundings in that general area), have actively worked in a conspiratorial nature (as proven by the e-mails that were hacked, let alone the ones that haven’t even come out yet or have been deleted) to hide the truth and alter it to fit their false ideals.

Then, let’s also look at the fact that those that support global warming/climate change are always trying to put down those that don’t agree with them (a sure sign of a false ideal).

And the final ingredient as the icing on the cake, the “proof” that the “rest of the world” when coming to a consensus is always the right answer. Right? The majority is always right, right? Or is it just proof that the “rest of the world” is so small-minded that it is easily persuaded to believe in anything, despite the facts?

I’m far from the conservative that you derogatorily put down in your graph (even though I’ve enough common sense not to fall for the climate change conspiracies), but in this case, I’ll take it as a compliment. I’d rather be one of those “conservatives” than a brainless moron who, despite facts that are contrary to their beliefs, still believes in whatever they are told. You’ll make a good little trooper in the army of the idiots. Shoot, with your beliefs and small mindedness, you might even make officer. Good luck and keep attacking Americans and conservatives…but we know you’ll be sure to call on us at the first sign of trouble. Your type always does.

    • forge says:

“as proven by the e-mails that were hacked” that don’t actually prove anything and what was taken from them was cherry-picked all the Hell and back and oh yeah, whoever hacked those emails committed a FELONY but never mind that now

      • Moniker says:

How can you be sure it was a hacker and not a leak? Honest question, as I’ve not seen an official report one way or the other.

Second, never mind the whole ‘evading FOI requests’ bit.

    • HL says:

“Also consider that one medium-sized volcano exploding puts more contaminants in the air than all the vehicles ever driven have put into the air.”

From Scientific American – “volcanic eruptions produce about 110 million tons of CO2 each year, whereas human activities contribute almost 10,000 times that quantity.”

A lot of the “it’s not happening” arguments are completely imagined up by those who have hundreds of billions to lose and some of the best marketing strategies ever.

  33. mr.x says:

  35. forge says:

No, people do not all only think the climate is changing in the summer when it’s hot, and think “what was the problem again?” in the winter when it’s cold because THAT IS EFFING STUPID AND INSANE.

  36. Keely says:

To all the people saying global WARMING is fake: You’re right. It’s global CLIMATE CHANGE. so get off your ass stop moaning and realize that we environmentalists aren’t trying to be bad we’re trying to convert america into an energy independent country with clean fuel and stuff. There, now we don’t sound so bad do we? But yeah they should have come to an agreement at Copenhagen.

  37. Hello yes says:

Gosh. Imagine if climate change isn’t real we’ll have made the world a better place for no reason.

  38. Robert Day says:

I have to say I don’t agree with the “global warming theory”, lets use what we know about the planet.

Oh wait, we have only been taking true scientific temperature measurements for about the last 30 years.

Makes me wonder how they came to this conclusion that there is an emergency.

Now lets look at history and what the world was like some time ago who’s records we all can agree were pretty accurate. H mm, Rome seems reasonable, okay why did Rome conquer lets say Britannia (UK for dummies)? Well we know they enslave who they conquer so that made the money back for the campaign, oh they did find pearls (those generals did like there bonuses), and lastly wine (reports were a bunch off the vine was as tall as a man, written by some Greek).

Now lets look at this from agriculture point of view (farmers, ie republican base), is this found in the old Roman province of Britannia anymore?

    NO!

Oh were is this found now?

    Southern France

Botanist archeologists found the species is now only found near the Mediterranean sea.

    Hmm this means something?

Oh I know 2000 ago the world must have been a lot warmer, and it has cooled off considerably since then. So just maybe were just now going back to earth normal temperatures??

I don’t know we don’t have enough “True” scientific data to tell us either way. (that truth thing keeps getting in the way)

I do however agree that we do need to become greener, not to stop global warming or some other far wing cause of either philosophy. But to be responsible for the limited resources that we do have and conserve them. (I feel that is the only true conservative) If we do these things living is cheaper, I do like non-contaminated drinking water and air that has no taste (if there is a taste I am sure that is bad). If we use wind, solar, thermal, hydro-electrical, Tidal (look up that one great renewable resource for 1/4 of the cost) we can use our own oil reserves and stop borrowing money from china (say that word conservatives eye’s twitch) to pay for oil from the middle east (many governments there subsidies the free school teaching of Wahhabism to the poor boys of there country, #1 cause of new terrorists).

That way the budget can be balanced, we don’t need to mortgage our future to lead to higher taxes to pay for it.

We can enjoy a lower carbon footprint (yes that term is real), and cleaner environment on the principal of being responsible. Also, god forbid, that you can make a buck on the way.

(BTW you can look up the same historical archeological agriculture or botanical record the world over and you see that plants for warm climates were in more northern latitudes during this time so this was not a “isolated” phenomena. I do apologies once again for the truth of things getting in the way.)

I mean, there is a healthcare bill that went from “it sounds like it might be good” to “lining the pockets of pharmacists and insurance companies”. Or maybe even focus on getting the economy back on track instead of causing major layoffs with “enviromental bills”.

Get out of debt, then worry about your carbon footprint. :/

I can has global warming soon plz?

  56. wow adict says:

Global warming is real. Sadly, as demonstrated on this graphs comments, many people are too scared of the efects it might have to believe in it (this is their decision and there is nothing wrong with it, its human nature to do this)

  57. Maertino says:

    It’s true……

  58. guntha says:

    so conservatives arent americans

  59. Someguyfromcrowd says:

Global warming is caused by a lack of pirates. Thanks to the Somali pirates, global temperatures are now falling.

That’s based off a similar level of evidence as global warming is.

    Just sayin’

  60. IHateThisPlace says:

Kind of a fail seeing as the southern hemisphere has *winter* in the middle of the year.

  61. Mah boi says:

They need another thing that says “normal people” and have it at al gore is a moron the whole time.

  62. global warming isn't real says:

One of the leading scientists on global warming has already come out and said that there has not been an increase in temperatures in the past 25 years.

    • Bhazor says:

      No he didn’t.

      • Lucas says:

I think he may have quoted it wrong, but perhaps I’m wrong. I remember one scientist on global warming either said:

        A. there has been no global temperature increase in the past 25 years

        or

        B. The earth will not warm nearly as much as projected within the next 25 years (I am fairly sure it was this)

Regardless, I am a huge skeptic on this but I like to keep my mind open to both sides of the debate. Think of anything that may convince me that humans are causing global climate change, then please share. Thanks!

  63. Rnuld says:

Yes, very correct. Green lines are idiots, blue lines are people that were at one point idiots, red lone has it right. GLOBAL WARNING IS A PART OF THE NATURAL CLIMACTIC CYCLES OF THE EARTH PEOPLE

    • Xenon says:

We know it’s manmade. Glad to have you on our side.

In other words, humans are the Earth people. You SHOULD have said “Earth, people.” A comma makes all the difference.

    • Bhazor says:

Natural climate cycles are traditionally controlled by geothermal and solar activity with the occasional wild card meteor or mass extinction. Yet geothermal activity has remained constant and solar output has actually been in decline for 5/6 years whilst last year was the hottest in recorded history.

So it’s like a dolphin in scuba gear. It does what it has always been doing but that doesn’t mean it is doing it in the same way.

  64. bruno says:

how could that be right .. do americans got the kyoto protocol ??? i guess not ….
    ur just better than china

  65. Ryan says:

    I just always think Al’s a moron
