What’s the problem. I’m a New Zealader living in Japan. People don’t hassle you about what you wear to the beach here. Board short are popular, but if you want to wear speedos no problem. Most guys at the pool wear jammers can’t see the point since they are just as revealing and it’s just more fabric to drag around. The funny thing is younger/ teenage boys will change at the pool wrappinng a towel around themselves just in case someone might notice thay’ve got genitals. The same boys will be quite happy to run around naked at an Onsen which is a gender segrigated communial spa. You’ll also see father’s and young daughters in the male onsen, and mums and young sons in the female onsen. No one cares or worries it’s normal! So as far as I can see it’s all conditioning. Me I’m in the speedo camp for laps, and serious swimming nothings better.

Having played for 6 years grabbing others’ suits to try and move them around is very helpful so you pretty much want to be wearing as little as possible.
