  1. Bob the blob says:

    Oh so true

  2. Rich says:

Yes, indeed. Lunch places should leave the check when they leave the food.

    • rachel says:

thats what i’ve said, “bring me my order and the check” they never do though and i am sooooo tempted to walk out without paying!

  3. RNS says:

The reason they don’t take the bill so fast is because they don’t want to appear like the greedy people they are.

    • WTF says:

Really? The greedy people they are?! Are you an idiot or just a disgruntled teenager with angst coming out of every hole in you? Try using that thing that’s inside your skull before you unleash your stupidity upon the interwebs for all to see.

      • WTF says:

…and just to further point out your nearsightedness, does it make sense financially for a server to A:Disappear when it’s time to pay your tab and prolong re-seating your table or B:Turn over their tables as fast as possible and therefore have more chances for a tip throughout their shift? I wonder if you can wrap your head around that concept, it’s a big one I know but maybe if you ask around you can find the answer.

        • WTF says:

Please excuse me. I have a social disorder which makes me say random hate and prejudice to random people for no reason at all because I fail at life and Its a total accident I even exist. Its not my fault my dad forgot to use a condom, but it doesn’t matter anymore because im on welfare living in a crack house doing nothing but putting down people. I know, I should be worshiping people like you who pay taxes so I can loaf around in my crack house all day long. Its awesome, I don’t even have to beg and live in the sewer anymore because I get free money. All I ever use my computer for is watching porn and driving people down with me to the pathetic, tragic abomination to humans I am.

        • RNS says:

Wow, you should learn not to open your mouth and throw random flames at people. (or in this case, break your fingers)

  4. Nikola says:

Unless I’m a woman dining alone, in which case you need a new category that goes negative on the Y-axis (forcibly repatriated? on an interstellar flight? died?).

  5. nellie says:

oh man all the servers who read this are going to tear you a new one

  6. Andrew says:

    I’m a server. You suck.
Maybe you should eat faster and then not blame servers for making you late.
Or just don’t eat at a place with servers, grab some fast food since that menu, and all the crap done to it, will match the food you deserve.

  7. Cowlifornia says:

Last option should now read: Need my bill so I can get to my car before the parking meter is up and I get a $50 ticket. (or have to pay another $3 to park another 30min.)

Have to love the crazy people we elect, and the people they appoint to rule over us in CA…

  8. Charlotte says:

Wait you eat lunch in a place with a waiter/waitress?! You don’t just go to a canteen or get fast food or even pack your own stuff? *Mind boggles*

(I’m a postgrad- so this really does seem seriously extragavent to me)

  9. I, too, am a server, and half the time when I ask politely (while a table is still eating) if I can bring the check I get stared down like I’m functionally retarded. So, of course, if I try to study the situation and decide not to bring it too soon, then I’m ALSO functionally retarded and they need the check immediately. Sometimes there’s just no winning.

Just remember your server is a person too, with feelings and thoughts and fears and bills, and if you’re not going to tip at least treat us with a shred of respect.

  10. Tim says:

This graph would be a flatline in a German restaurant.

  11. Sarah says:

I am a server, and I speak from my own experience when I say that I was told to NEVER drop the check unless it has been requested. It makes people feel rushed and unwelcome. It is our job to make sure customers get everything they need as quickly as possible and to the best of our ability, but part of our job is to provide a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. If you are on such a strict time schedule that waiting for a short period of time is going to significantly throw off your day, you should maybe consider preparing your own meal or visiting a fast food establishment where sticking to a strict schedule is their top priority.

  12. BKMT1981 says:

Duh, the waiter/waitress is disappearing slowly as they are realizing what a PIA you are. It’s called avoidance– and it’s what I am about to do. Buh Bye!
