The red tape? You fill out a FAFSA. It doesn’t get much easier than that. And then you get Federal Student loans that have a lower percentage rate and some of it the interest gets paid by the government while in deferment.

Actually, the NY Times did an article a while back noting that most CEOs don’t come from elite colleges. My girlfriend’s dad was a CEO for several companies and he went to a crap night school college.

Both husband and I got degrees from a “good” university. I decided not to pursue a career in my degree (education), but he did and still couldn’t find anything (and it was engineering!). It is more and more common that people who go to college have a hard time finding a job, and people who do technical school or find something right of high school get by great. Totally against my views of life for 25 years… college wasn’t even a question. Oh well, it was an experience. Fortunately, parents paid, and I’m not in debt!

That depends on what uni you go to… You probably won’t become a CEO if you haven’t been to a good uni (even though there are a few exceptions). I’m at a very very good university, and I find that it’s more what you learn from the people around you than the graphs and facts you learn from classes that expand your horizon as a human being.

I also got the whole debt thing, picked up a few bits of skills, though not as much as I would have liked, plus some survival skills. However, all if it was worth it when I found my job, which my college education helped me to get.

ps: in case I made a mistake in my typing; didn’t do a major in English. My native language isn’t even English.
