I’ve noticed this as well. I had to take apart my desktop set-up a few months ago, and even though the wires to everything hadn’t been touched in years, they were all tangled to hell…
So true!
I left my string on a table once. when i came back it was in knots…

I left earphones left straight across a table, came back, ripped them trying to untangle them. 0.0

Personally I don’t think it’s a wire gnome or gremlin, I think it’s due to massive wire orgies.

this use to happen with my ps2 controllers leave even there come back and WAM tangled, and then i went wireless and everyone live happily ever after.

Oh thanks goodness, i am not crazy! I could’ve swore the wires plotting against me. Knowing that they plot against everyone is kinda a reliefe.

its weird how wen u leave a camera there an u come bak and the thing wasnt recording the WHOLE thing
It’s even worse in a hospital, and the tubes and wires are attached to a patient. With absolutely no movement involved, those lines can go from freshly-untangled to macramé in the time it takes to turn around.
IV lines are the worst. When you accidentally pull on them, it hurts. And if something hurts your hand, what’s your first, deepest, most instinctive impulse?
Einstein should have paid less attention to theories of relativity and more attention to theory of tangled wires.
