    GraphJam isn’t a popularity contest.

  3. steve holt says:

I’m sorry, did you say Nobel Peace Prize isn’t a popularity contest?

  4. Michael says:

Remember guys, there’s still that slim <1% that says that it's still not a popularity contest. Although, this is usually only said during high school, in which EVERYTHING is a popularity contest.

    • senrath says:

Yeah. Generally when it’s said, the statement that really should be said is “It SHOULDN’T be a popularity contest.”

    • Mirkwood says:

Sadly. All pre-college elections for anything are like that. Whoever has the most friends wins, whether they’re qualified or not.
One year we had a kid in the Honors Math program whose dad was a financial advisor run for student treasurer. He lost to a volleyball player who coerced her team, ex-boyfriends, and friends to vote for her.

I think some recent Nobel Prize winner has said “it’s not a popularity contest” a few times.

That rocket had better have taken out all those moon people, otherwise I’m going to the bunker to take shelter. But they deserved it anyways for causing those damn tsunamis and earthquakes and typhoon in Japan yesterday. Although no one would admit it yet, Obama just won that Nobel Peace Prize for averting a war between the moon people and the people of Earth. God bless Earth. (Email Received From My Attorney)

  7. Marty says:

The captain of the scholar bowl team won Homecoming King. The president of student senate is 100 pounds over weight. Those things are true! I’m that small slice.

    • Nostawyn says:

What school do you go to where overweight people can’t be popular? There generally isn’t a weight requirement. It’s more of an income-level requirement. And if money doesn’t work, promiscuity will.

  8. Kelly says:

I agree with “senrath” the statement should be “It SHOULDN’T be a popularity contest”

  9. fsdafa says:

I hate it when the school gives “leadership awards” where the kids vote for the best “leader” and then the teachers say “it’s not a popularity contest”.
