    THIRD!!!!!

  2. Heath says:

I think “amount of clothing” is incorrect, since the Y-axis actually delineates exactly what articles of clothing this girl is wearing, rather than any measured amount (how do you measure amounts of clothes?).

This could go for nerdy guys, too, alas, including the Leia-slave outfit.

    • Richard (with an arr) says:

Actually, I’d say that with exception to the difference between the top 2, the “amount” fits quite well. A hoodie is certainly heavier and has more fabric than a t-shirt, and I say it fits properly. Sweatshirt and sweatpants are debatable on heavier than hoodie and jeans.

  3. Edward says:

I find that shy, quiet, cute, nerdy chick to be hot in all of those outfits.

    • Someone says:

      Ooooh, yeah. Definitely.

    • joobledotz says:

      My hero :)

    • Dexaan says:

      Hear, hear!

    • Jason says:

Hell yes! The shy, quiet, cute, nerdy ones are the best!

      • Grandon says:

Let me be the first to point out that nerds are never attractive.

        • Xenon says:

Let me be the first to point out that Grandon is living in the dark ages when being a nerd or a geek was bad. Nowadays, we live in the sunlight. Besides, without nerds, you guys wouldn’t have technology. Deal with it.

          • loler27 says:

Yeah! Nerds FTW! Besides, humans would not have survived at all without their mental capability. Now look at where we are. Being smart is how people survive in today’s economy. Look at the people running Google. Do you know how much they make? Millions. The point- be smart. Hard work early in life = Big benefits later. That’s the way we roll in America. Or any other democracy. So don’t count on being famous someday. There is a chance, but it is quite small. Very small. Just be smart. There will never be a surplus of smart people. But there are billions that want to be famous. That’s some hard competition. Be smart, and you will get easier, well paying jobs. There are thousands of them out there. They just need people who have the capability to fill them. Think about that. Nerds or not, smart people will completely run this country, and eventually, the world. The invasion has begun. And it cannot be stopped. So have yourself on the better side, the smart one.

            • Faustus says:

Second this with all my soul. I consider myself a nerd, and there is no shame on it. If someone ask, i just say it, and add: “And nerds gonna conquer the world…”. My friends laugh so bad, they dont know than “the invasion has begun”…

            • nate says:

Hard work is for chumps. Don’t work hard, work smart. Also, I wish I believed as you do, that smart people run the country.

People who are good at rising to the top run the country. They’re more likely to be sociopathic than smart.

  4. notold says:

I think my husband made this about me and my college years. if you marry that girl and make her feel better about herself by telling her she is cute, the clothing gets less and more weather appropriate. Also if that girl has a baby, she doesnt care about how horrible she thinks she looks and wears whatever is most comfortale despite her imagined body issues. As long as I dont end up as the “work it, nana” on peopleofwalmart.com then I am ok! I dont think I should worry about this yet at only 27 though.

    • Crystal Kyuuketsuki says:

Some of us don’t have a problem with how we look, and just like to dress modestly…

      • itwasadarkandstormynight says:

Yeah. How does “doesn’t feel the need to dress like a slut” turn into “not feeling good enough about herself to wear revealing clothes”?

        • callista says:

Shorts and blouse aren’t dressing like a slut, ‘specially in the summer. Actually, most of the people I know go to “tank top and shorts” just to survive those 90 degree days, shy nerdy girl or not.

That said, I do tend to go the “sweatpants and baggy T-shirt” route most days. Nothing to do with modesty; it’s just the most comfortable.

Yay for college! We can get away with practically wearing pajamas to class and it doesn’t matter just so you’re clean and paying attention. SO not looking forward to business dress when I get out… I already have to wear “business casual” whenever I’m working at my internship. blech.

          • Whitney says:

I love college just for the fact that you CAN wear pajamas to class if you feel like it. Don’t feel like putting on jeans this morning? DON”T just roll out of bed, throw your hair in a ponytail and you’re ready to go. Just don’t forget to brush your teeth!! :D

            • Kittehs in Jammies says:

Senior year of college, I DID wear pajamas and slippers to class- anything before noon, that is. XD
Small, private university where you know all your professors by first name… you can get away with almost anything :b~~~~

(scholarship student, not rich kid- just wanted to point that out!!)

          • Wolfie-Chan says:

            many people my age where i live feel the need to wear shorts and tank tops even in the winter… and i live in Alaska ^-^;

  5. quix0te says:

On the one hand, I’m SO glad that nerdity has gone mainstream. On the other hand, I’m really bitter that I was ten years too late. All the hot cosplay girls are 15 years younger than me. Oh well. Congrats little brothers. Try to avoid the REALLY crazy ones.

    • Mirkwood says:

Man, where do you live? Here in DC, there’s someone for everyone, even the nice old ladies dressed as priestesses and nice old gentlemen dressed as wizards. You should check it out sometime ^__^

    • n647 says:

      hell yea, fell the same way, wish I was 10 years younger… I know some people of my age and all but one is out of the mainstream ^^;

  6. SKW says:

This is so me and all my friends… Congrats on making such an accurate and funny graph.

  7. Zeph says:

    quix0te and SKW,
So very this. I can’t believe D*Con made Graphjam!

    awesome

  8. RJ Lowe says:

    Or a Yoko costume *drools*

    SO. MANY. AT. ANIME. NORTH.

  9. Josti says:

    Pics or it didn’t happen

    • Fnord says:

Go to flickr and search for “Dragon con”, with or without the space. There are gajillions of photos.

Even searching for “Leia slave outfit” will get you tons of results. (Or you could just go to the photo archives at leiasmetalbikini.com …)

  10. Kate says:

    Haha. This is me. xD

  11. Sleeper says:

so true. You would never catch me wearing stuff similar to what I cosplay irl. But when a con comes round, the clothes come off [but not all the way, I'm not a duct tape whore]

  12. The Fistinator says:

So say, indeed so hope we all.

  13. Beryllium says:

    Sweatpants are NEVER cute.

Show me a cute shy nerdy girl who dresses in button-down shirts and a tweedy librarian skirt, however? Oh man. My displacer beast fails its hide check, if you know what I mean.

  14. Katie says:

Ha ha ha. I was there at this year’s Dragon*Conn, and that is SO true! XD

  15. bleachgrl says:

As one of the “shy, quiet, cute, nerdy chick” (but not so much as I used to be X3) I can say that this is completely true. When we go to Cons (Anime, not comics) we feel more comfortable and we know we’re not being judged because everyone else around us is doing the same.

  16. Bell says:

Woo! This was my second year at D*Con. Seeing a Graphjam reference made me smile.

  17. bottobot says:

What I hate is when the 300 pound girls wear the costume. I know – not the same thing….

  18. Redbird says:

    Naked – @ Burning Man

  19. Robin says:

As a pedantic, “shy, quiet, cute, nerdy chick”, I feel compelled to point out that your X-axis is not chronological. Dragon*Con is held over Labor Day weekend and, as such, should be between Summer and Fall. Just sayin’.

I haven’t gone as far as Slave Leia, but I have done it up Kaylee-Fry-style more than once. :)

  20. Carly says:

What happens at Dragon*Con STAYS at Dragon*Con. :)

  21. Stinkoman87 says:

I can verify this with my friend at school. Of course, this can also apply to the guys (I once saw a guy in a Papillion costume).

  22. nerdsruletheearth says:

    Oh yes.
Dragon*Con is my eternal love <3
Totally true. Dragon*Con brings out that side of people. (as I imagine many conventions do, but I've only been to two conventions so I can only imagine) But yes, it's absolutely amazing. the one think that is weird is that I'm commenting so late… oh well
