Of course, there are a few people with metabolisms that have been able to keep up with the availability of calories; these people have such efficient calorie-burning furnaces, they can eat pretty much what they want. Other people’s bodies conserve calories efficiently . . . whether they want to or not. They are evolutionarily equipped for the next famine.

there are, of course, two answers. One, people eat out more than they used to. Two, food manufacturers have introduced several chemically altered ingredients into our food.

High fructose corn syrup, for example, has replaced sugar in most soft-drinks. HFCS has twice the calories, and half the sweetness of sugar. this means that to equal the sweetness of sugar using HFCS it is necessary to quadruple the calorie content of soft-drinks.Also, one more thing HFCS stops those from eating from feeling not hungry until they are full instead of wen they merely have had enough.

HFCS, however, costs less than half that of sugar so it gets used anyway.

When I go to McDonalds I get the full package: chicken nuggets, fries, and TWO cheeseburgers.

And I’m not fat yet.

I imagine they’re an exception, though. Good graph.

Seriously though, the size of the meals isn’t the problem with them so much as they are incredibly dense with calories and lack nutrition. In most regions in America the daily calorie intake has been roughly constant over the past 7 decades, only a small increase that would not explain the obesity. Inactivity seems to be the bigger issue here.

I have only been to tinyfood land once before, but don’t plan on going back. because seriously tinyfood land is a JOKE.

i’m about 10 lbs over weight. but not fat by any means. nice try though! i’d give it a “c” for effort.

what we eat on a regular basis is revoltingly over sized. i’m definitely as guilty of it as the next person… but open your eyes and at least realize that eating a 16oz steak and a baked potato and salad and bread is absurd. it’s almost 2 times more food than we’re supposed to eat, not to mention 4 times more meat than you’re supposed to eat in a meal.

americans are fat because of portion size. you’re blessed with either a strong desire to work out or a high metabolism… but the kids meals are the proper portion sizes for adults.

This seems like a copy of some older graph, though. Not an exact copy, but the same joke.

But its the whole quality over quantity.
