In the last 6 months I’ve gone from a loose size 8 to a tight 10. And my boyfriend is trying desperately to convince me he prefers me now. I can’t get out of my head that I’m DOUBLE DIGITS in size, it’s like a movie announcers voice everytime I try on clothes.

Good job. My husband always calls me a “fata**,” but I take it as a compliment because I actually do have more of a but than your average white woman, and he likes it. But yeah, there are a lot of women out there who are insecure about their looks, and I won’t pretend to be completely immune to it myself. It sucks, but as long as you’re genuine with your compliments, awesome.

And as guys we’re really stuck: you’re condescending if you say they aren’t fat, you’re an a.ss if you actually do say it, even in jest, and if you say nothing at all you’re still and a.ss for not talking with them. I find it best to be tactfully complimentary (i.e. “That top would look great on you”) and then always look for the next sale to point out to her. That’s usually good cover.

Yup. Statistically, you don’t start losing life expectancy until you are actually Obese (the BMI category). “Overweight” is more of a danger zone that means “don’t gain any more”; the only negative finding associated with the “overweight” category is a slightly higher rate of arthritis. It is still more dangerous to be underweight than to be obese, and about as dangerous to be underweight as morbidly obese.

This is all statistics, of course, large-scale stuff. On a small scale, you can be obese or even “morbidly obese” and still be healthy–if your blood pressure is normal, you get a lot of exercise, you don’t smoke, and you’re eating a good diet. And you can be underweight and healthy, if you have that same lifestyle.

I wish to all hell people would f***ing quit chiming in with this. A thread can go on for 100 posts with “people are healthier and nicer looking and generally have a more pleasant disposition and are usually better in bed” and on and on an on, and some moron will chime in with “but fat is bad for you!!!’

NO IT ISN’T. Our bodies are intended to have a layer of FAT on them. It is a survival mechanism and!!! AND!!! It is evolutionarily natural for men to find women who are of slightly squooshier proportions SEXY and ATTRACTIVE. The people who always chime in “but fat is unhealthy!!” are nothing but mindless idiots who have been programmed by the media at large to think that Keira Knightley’s figure is the ideal. THAT IS INSANE AND STUPID. Please, for the love of God, please. Stop.

I have friends who are very slim (I often say to myself that they look like sticks) and insist that they’re fat. They also call me skinny when I’m clearly not. Most guys (and plenty of girls) have called me fat and I believe them more than I believe my friends. This graph really applies to me.

2 points. On average human females are meatier than their male couterparts. Also, a skinny girl is less likley to be called fat. So i think the percentage of women who are fat and actually are fat is much higher that 64.5%. So if you are a woman and someone calls you fat, you better believe 100%.
