I live in the UK and I find bands that I really like, but whose songs are impossible to find in British music stores or on Itunes. What’s REALLY annoying is when you look on the american itunes and it’s on there, but not on the UK version. And even though you can see it on the screen, you can’t buy it.
Sorry, rant over. But I do have to go on youtube sometimes to listen to really good songs =p That was basically my point…
when Pandora isn’t playing what you want to hear, don’t have it on CD or MP3, want the lyrics when last.fm doesn’t have them, …

True. I have yet to see a runescape fanvid to a song *I* want to hear.
Although, I have nothing against well edited, and completed RSMV’s they shouldn’t cut them out half way.
They also forgot the occasional Mario Paint version of the song.

a) Can be found or is best found on youtube
b) Appears on Rock Band
c) Is enjoyed by people who play Runescape
d) Is in the hands of copyright arseholes
e) Is played in venues so big that there’s an unenjoyable “back row”
f) Is enjoyed by 12-year-olds that can’t play guitar

Sometimes the ‘other artist’ slice results in a win. For instance; I was searching for the Tremeloes “Here Comes My Baby”, as they are a one hit wonder and hard to come by, when I happened on a far superior Cat Stevens version.
Turns out that Ol Yusef is the writer (as he is with many songs) and his version features a sax!
Moral being: the hit version that you know is not always the best one.

Don’t forgot somebody taking and making some cheap-ass, lame-o fan-vid. They’ll take a bunch of random publicity shots of the artist/band, turn them into a video a-la slide-show style. Paste the music over it and voila.

…except if you just happen to like J-pop, where 45% of the videos will be AMV of anime characters dancing on the song, one third of those will be ripped from Nino Nico Douga. 16% will be mislabeled versions of the Caramelldansen.
If you like Latin Music the chance of the actual song rises to 20%, but in exchange you’ll get a 35% of finding a version sung by Wendy Sulca or La Tigresa de Oriente.
I was looking for Distrurbed’s ‘Stricken’ this one time and there was this dude who was just lipsinking the words to the song as it was played on the SPEAKERS, NOT THE VIDEO. Retard.
I searched for that song too, and the first thing that popped up was a Naruto crappy AMV.

Urrgh! Don’t get me started on this. You’ve hit the nail on the head there, the lack of cooperation is astounding. You’d spend the next 20 minutes trying to look for the song you like and it’s either not there or someone tried to put it to there own Goddamn handiwork and f#ck it all up
