Actually, this is pretty intriguing, as the trends themselves are pretty constant and not perfectly parallel; theoretically, one could extrapolate the lines until they have a point of intersection to determine when the current date equals the date predicted. That is, the date when they will exist.

there are flying cars. i read it on the wallstreet journal. the problem is that you need one hell of a liscense and its inconvienient to go to an airport and back to to get from home to work.

And it should not be a straight line. It should be exponential or logarithmic or something, either with predicted date getting further away from actual date (likely) or closer (I don’t think we’re ever going to have flying cars. We drive badly enough on the ground as it is.)

I think it might be ironic if in 20 years they do finally invent a flying car, but it needs to run on a gasoline powered engine, and by then everyone will have switched to electric motor.

Who would need a flying car if you had a underwater car?
Of course, there’s sky EVERYWHERE and the ocean is in select places, so it would be more efficient.
But, I would prefer an underwater car. Because…it’s and underwater car. No explanation needed.

The road thing is one of the many problems with the flying cars idea. People have enough difficulty and cause enough accidents in two dimensions–can you imagine trying to get them to drive well in three? Flying cars are just impractical, for many reasons. So yeah, we could totally have them, but it’s not worth it.
