  1. Lynn says:

I don’t think anyone really likes socks as a gift.

  2. jzimbert says:

I’m 32 years old. If my grandmother was still alive and spent a year hand-knitting me a pair of socks and gave them to me for my birthday, I would punch her in the nose.

  3. zippycat says:

I’m way over age 26 and still hate getting socks as a gift. Now my dad, he’s always loved getting socks, as long as they’re gold-toes. :)

  4. Todd says:

    Socks are for wusses!!

If any woman wants a real man look me up!

  5. Oh my god, yes, I love socks.

I always need new socks. I would hug anyone buying them for me. I can’t wait for my best friend to come back from Korea – she promised to bring me novelty socks. I’m 24.

    Socks.

    • Hoopy Frood says:

I hate getting socks as gifts, and I’m (barely) over 26. My father hates ‘em, too.

I like getting them myself (crazy ones or tabi from sockdreams), but they’re not really gift material in my mind.

  6. LeAnna says:

Dude, I need some socks. All mine get holes in them. Is this extremely common for 19-25 yr olds?

    • The Vicar says:

If you walk a lot, then yes. That’s what happens to socks, whether you’re 19-25 or 59-65 or whatever. Also if you pull on them too hard when you put them on, they will eventually get holes, too.

      • The Vicar says:

Thanks. That post exactly represents, in a single sentence, everything which is wrong with people on the Internet. Oh, wait, I’m wrong. It doesn’t make fun of any technology. If only you had implied that the reason for the innuendo was something like Linux or the iPhone, you would have won the troll of the year award. You missed it by thaaaaaaaat much. Better luck next time.

    • Sarah says:

I think so…my husband needs all new socks every 6 months or so and I buy him packs of 12 pairs. He is 29 so a little outside the age range but he has always been that way.

  7. The Vicar says:

I walk a lot and I like getting socks as presents — if they’re GOOD socks. Y’know, not the el cheapo crap you can buy anywhere that wear through in a few months and don’t keep your feet warm in the winter. If you can get ‘em at a department store, they’re probably garbage.

  8. kai says:

so if time increases linearly on the x-axis we all die at around 30?

  9. smartz says:

Socks…more like sucks. You can buy them any time you want…and a good pair can last for years.

I got pajamas for Christmas last year, and I am over 20. They are extremely comfy. People should give comfy things (other than socks)

    • whitey138 says:

i got a pair of long underwear for christmas a couple years ago. i wear them all the time in the winter. it gets really cold in minnesota.

  10. Akai says:

I’m noticing an upsurge of flat-out wrong graphs like this one… Is this some kind of hipster-irony? I know I’d certainly rather assume someone forgot to get me a gift at all than to hand over socks–that’s akin to finding a way to put giving someone the middle-finger, putting it into a package and tying it with a bow. It’s insensitive bordering on just plain rude to give socks!

    • Devylan says:

Not everyone thinks that way, as you can see by the varied responses. If you think it’s rude to get socks, I hope you let everyone who may give you a gift in the future know that. Otherwise, someone who may think they’re being sweet and thoughtful might end up being on your sh*t list, and how unfair for that person.

      • JJ Fad says:

That was a very intelligent response to a very heartless and uncaring comment. Thank you.

        Have a free internet.

      • Hoopy Frood says:

        Well said, Devylan.
I don’t like getting socks either – well, except when my roommate buys me crazy ones I can’t find anywhere else – but the people who buy me gifts know this.
Some people don’t mind socks, or even ask for them outright. It’s not rude if the gift-giver doesn’t know.

        • Devylan says:

          Thank you.

          • Jen says:

I agree… it also may make a difference for girls or boys – my daughter loves cute socks – my son does not appreciate socks as a gift, as I would think probably most boys/men wouldn’t. I mean, how exciting are tube socks. LOL Of course if you NEED them that’s different.

  11. Mariachi says:

Wow… 26-Death…that is a pretty large age gap there. X-Axis fail.

  12. Darth Yoda-Wan Windujinn says:

I’m 14 and I love socks, as long as they aren’t neon pink and flowery (and even then, they make cool puppets for my little sister. xD). ^^

  13. Mike says:

I love getting socks. There are few things that feel quite as good as a brand new pair of socks. Ideally, I’d wear new socks every day.

  14. Samuel says:

I actualy need socks, I’m 14… I really did ask my nanny for socks…

  15. Underwear, too. The more pairs you own, the less often you have to do laundry.

  16. calilac says:

the horrors of truth, and i actually laughed.

  17. Ken says:

Well, I’m 26 and I hate getting socks as a gift. Not only because I only wear black socks, but also because I can’t stand polyester socks.

Until a few years ago, my parents meant well and brought me a new pair of black socks from time to time. Unfortunately, they always chose the cheapest brand which contained parts of polyester or some other synthetic cr*p. Combine that with sneakers, and you’ve got clammy feet all day. There’s nothing but black, 100% cotton sox…

  18. Xero says:

The sad thing is.. i got a pair of socks for my 17th birthday last week. It was more of a WTF than a “Socks Again?”

  19. Dave Gyte says:

Hahaha I looked at the title of this and thought, “hmm I actually could use some socks”

And then, I saw it in the graph.

    I’m 26 almost 27…

  20. rach says:

Im 22 and I began loving sock gifts when I moved out on my own 2 yrs ago.

  21. HEALSPAM says:

ANYONE NOTICE THAT THIS GRAPH IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE OTHER WAY AROUND? AS IN IT SHOULD GO DOWN. UNLESS PEOPLE OVER 26+ LOVE SOCKS

  22. noone says:

That scale is a little off. I don’t need socks. :-P

  23. Penfold says:

This graph was clearly made by someone under the age of 26 … I have never wanted socks as a gift.

    Ever.

  24. robynnn says:

SO 26 IS THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF MY LIFE????

  25. Bittorent jackson says:

This graph fails the correct thing to do was start it a gee thanks the flat line all the way

  26. Dane says:

27 years old, pay my own bills and would love if people gave me socks as a gift.

  27. Jen says:

I ALWAYS need socks. Besides the dryer eating them, my daughter is always stealing mine!! I’m 45, btw

  28. Jen says:

    Ooh, dirty puppet shows. =P

  29. Ted says:

Actually, the desirability of socks peaks at around 14 for most boys…

  30. Kira says:

    i’m thirteen. i love socks. :D

  31. Holly says:

    Dobby likes socks
