So true! FIRST!
I find this graph absolutely stupid. MAAAAN why you gotta go compare REDNECKS with GAMERS?!!!
I’m a GAMER, but for one thing i don’t drink energy drinks. I drink the “caffeine filled” coca-cola while I’m playing but thats about it. And btw I don’t even know WTF hot pockets are, neither do like potato chips NAaUGHGHGHGh
=)
This graph fail on so many ways. PUT IT ON FAIL BLOG ( Venn diagram fail & stereotyping fail). I wonder if he did it while drunk? even a 4th grader knows the difference.
Looks like someone got offended…
must have spilled his monster on his hot pocket.
“even a 4th grader knows the difference”
Between what and what?
If you don’t eat hot pockets or potato chips and don’t drink energy drinks, you are not a gamer. The graph says so.
are you sure you’re not on a couple hundred red bulls right now? take it easy, man.
Looks like one gamer needs to cool it with all the energy drinks.
dude its just a joke and it is kind of true im a gamer and I drink Monster alot and Coke but i hate hot pockets
I think this has a little more to do with him comparing 2 different stereotypes that have 2 VERY common similarities vs it being “redneck vs. gamer.”
Statement is true, but your use of the Venn diagram is epic fail. Basically what you’re saying here is that hot pockets and potato chips are both booze and caffeinated/energy drinks.
Correct me if I am wrong, but i believe you are the one who is incorrect.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venn_diagram
The combined area of sets A and B is called the union of A and B, denoted by A ∪ B. The union in this case contains all things that either have two legs, or that fly, or both.
Oh, ffs.
The green set isn’t “Booze” it’s “Dietary needs of Rednecks” and contains Booze, Hot Pockets, and crisps. The red set is “Dietary needs of Gamers” and contains Energy drinks, Hot Pockets, and crisps.
Reading diagram fail.
It’s conventional to put set names in the circles of a venn diagram, like this, this, this and this. ajdj’s graph may not be entirely wrong but it is unconventional and isn’t easy to read at a glance, which is kind of the entire point of graphs.
I had no trouble determining the meaning of this graph. The only things I can think of that would have made it clearer is a little line from each heading to the circle representing it, and maybe restating the title in the labels.
You seem determined to find a problem though, so I don’t think I can help you.
My determination is not to find fault, simply to defend my original statement. However as a wise man once said: Arguing on the internet is like participating in the special olympics; even if you win, you’re still a retard.
As such I rest my case and people can do with venn diagrams whatever they want.
And you can take your criticisms and … do whatever you want with them. Nobody likes an anal retentive douchebag.
BTW – I dunno where you, or the majority of people who made those examples, learned venn diagrams – but I’m afraid you’re wrong here. It’s convention to put the Contents Of The Set in the circle, and the Title Of The Set outside but near to the circle. This graph is completely, 100% conventional, the only clarification needed being perhaps adding “Diet of …” before Redneck and Gamer in the Set Titles.
…. btw.
To clarify – the difference is, when people label the interior of a circle as the set name… is they’re ‘implying’ an understood content in the /shading/ of said circle. It is more standard to place individual names of the specific contents of said circle in the appropriate place to indicate which set they belong to.

You quoted the completely wrong part of wiki to make your point. If you were a redneck gamer then you would be included in the union of A and B and be subject to all things in the diagram. Where as the overlapping area is what is common to both rednecks and gamers NOT what the items in the gamer only category or redneck only category have in common. So, yes epic diagram reading fail on your part.
Love to break it to you but…. Setagana is right.
wrong
but your statement is a fail…
How do two liquids make a solid?
Booze is the resin and caffeinated beverages act as the hardener, forming an epoxy.
/applaud. Especially for the graph-appropriate name.
Funniest & worst graph ever…
this is truely bad
the joke in core attempt was good
but totally the wrong graph
when you mix booze and caffeinated drinks, it doesnt turn into a hot pocket
Yes it does. Have you ever tried it?
yes… coffee and bailey’s… vodka and red bull… rum and coke… sigh… shoud i continue?
Great idea, but wrong graph type. Perhaps this also belongs on fail blog?
Wow, so many people who can’t read.
venn diagrams
This is not how a venn diagram works! >.< If they switched the labels around so that "rednecks" and "gamers" were in the circles and the foods were outside, THAT would be an appropriate graph. Hot pockets and potato chips are NOT in the same categories as booze and energy drinks. GO BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL AND LEARN SOMETHING!!!
I’m sorry, but you’re incorrect and should take your “highschool” education back to elementary school where we learned these things.
Individual items are to be listed in the appropriate circle which is labeled externally to indicate which sets the items belong in. This graph is done appropriately.
(sigh) so… what you are saying is that redneck gamers are hotpockets?
No, the dietary needs of rednecks and gamers is hot pockets.
who says booze aint food?
Pickles is hot.
Give the kid a break. He’s just a teenager and hasn’t taken anything more advanced than algebra.
(he’s my kid)
while I agree with you on giving him a break, I fail to see where his math skills come into play here.
He hasn’t studied Venn diagrams or boolean logic
….You learn about venn diagrams in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ENGLISH CLASS
Granted I don’t remember everything I learned in elementary school necessarilly, but I really don’t remember that much about venn diagrams, whether I learned about them in elementary English or highschool math.
You first learn them in elementary school and 90% of schools use them ALL THROUGHOUT HIGH SCHOOL. There is really no excuse for this level of failure with the graph setup.
He was right, anyway. So much fail here.
By the people saying your son was wrong, not by your son.
I like coffee drinks.
Hell, yes.
Another point about this graph’s failure is that most rednecks I know are teetotalers due to their religious beliefs. Actually, rednecks are more likely to imbibe energy drinks.
Totally….
In fact, if anything, the graph should be a simple circle, given the things the poster was using as examples.
Living here in the hills of SE Kentucky, I can vouch that there are at LEAST as many redneck gamers by percentage as non-redneck gamers.
Most locals drink energy drinks like they were water. Many also drink alcohol, regardless of what their religious beliefs supposedly are.
And, having attended and staffed conventions with large numbers of video gamers (examples include Chicago’s Anime Central, among others – hardly a redneck venue), the video gamers tend toward excessive booze at night, and Sobes durign the day to rehydrate. Very rarely did I see an actual canned “energy drink” pass their lips (gatorade and powerade during the day, yes – but that was to help counter the effects of the hangover of the night before).
I feel as though I must interject here. I am half and half, and from SW Oklahoma. I do not drink, however, I know many rednecks that do. The Venn diagram above is accurate if you know how to read the bloody thing. Where the dietary needs of the two groups meet in the middle is PERFECTLY accurate. Thank you.
Just for the record, I usually game drunk.
Yes, World of Warcraft is sometimes only playable with beer.
As do all right-thinking folk.
… for that matter lotsa rednecks get hopped up on “energy drinks”. They mix well with vodka.
Makes XBOX Live so much more fun.
New graph: People who have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what a Venn diagram is.
New graph: people who think they know what one is and apparently DON’T.
So true.
You forgot that pizza and tacos are also an integral part of the video gamer diet.
We’ve just forgotten the label over the center area of the Venn diagram:
College Student.
Nice!
Thank you for reminding me of what I am, Vernie. And yes, all those things are integral parts of the diet of a college student. However, there are those among us who do not drink (myself included).
I find this graph offensive! I HATE hot pockets.
actually… the graph is fine… Hot Pockets are the offender.
you forgot canned cheese food.
In Europe, gamers drink loads. But then we don’t have rednecks who take all the booze.
Where’s the ramen, eh?
wow thats true o.0
gamers ftw!!
TRUTH!! lol
Now, now. Gamers love them some booze.
The Angry Video Game Nerd has booze. This graph is wrong.
I’m a gamer and consume none of these. Plus, as pointed out previously, the center section makes absolutely no sense. Graph fail.
Judging from the repeated use of the word “fail” (with a douchebag for good measure) you all spend way too much time on line and none of you are getting laid. Talk about fail.
this made me chuckle
I’m a gamer, but I don’t generally like Hot Pockets because of the nasty meat. Potato chips usually have too much salt, but I do drink energy drinks. I drink them te morning *after* I’m up late playing so as to stay awake during work. Hehe.
Where the hell is mountain dew? wtf
the proper graph would be 3 circles. two circles touching but not over lapping and a third circle partially over lapping both. the two independant circles would be people who drink energy drinks and people who drink booze. the third over lapping circle would be people who eat hot pockets. the over lapping points would be where red necks and gamers fall into place.
Nice graph. Whether it is or isnt created correctly (i say its correct but see how some people might get confused, or just try to be a jack ass)i enjoyed it and found it very intuative
Can someone please explain to me what a hot pocket is?
Google is your friend.
