Not to mention, as long as you report in time (ie; 60 days after it happened), if you’re a victim of fraud your bank will investigate and refund you… Visa has fraud protection, and you can file paperwork to have any fraudulent electronic withdrawals refunded.

There’s no reason not to utilize electronic banking. It’s actually safer than using cash because it’s traceable and most banks have measures in place to protect you from fraud.

TD Banks (used to be Commerce I believe) are definitely the greatest banks for convienence but they’re not everywhere. I live in Arizona and have never seen a TD Bank.

The last seven mortgages I have had (purchases and refinances), have all been done in my house. They either send documents overnight, or send a rep to my house (evenings and weekends). I have not had to go anywhere.

I simply scan and email checks for deposits. I have never wanted to get coins or singles from an ATM. I don’t frequent the strip clubs. Also, the Coinstar machines at the grocery stores do not charge any fees if you get a gift card for the store. To me, that’s as good as cash.

I scan the checks in and email them for deposits. I use an ATM for withdrawals (free ATM usage for moderate use). So, yes. My online bank does deposits and withdrawals.

This graph is 100% true. And it seems it’s viable worldwide since I live in Sweden and this issue has bothered me for quite some time.

And can we please agree to most of the stuff being done online but in some cases you actually need to go to the bank. In those cases you got to take a day off from work or so. Btw my bank… 10-15 Mon-fri except for one day where they bust their asses off working until 1700 whoopdidoo!

That’s great, except that bank’s hours aren’t tailored particularly well for people without money. They’re tailored well for people who don’t have jobs, and therefore are free during the day.

I work for the IT dept for a pretty large bank, and some of this is true. Mortgage officers will meet you anywhere you want, not just at branches. We even have mortgage officers that work out of their home. Everything is done intranet through a vpn.
The branch hours are kinda like the graph though. Only open to 6pm on fridays, half a day on saturday. Mon-thurs they shut down at 4pm. And yes, there are times you need to talk face to face. We even have branches in grocery stores that are open all day Saturday and till 7pm on weekdays. Those are a tad different from the regular branches, can’t talk investments and mortgage. We even have a 24/7 help line that can answer just about anything.

And what about checks/money orders needing to be CASHED, as Phoenix suggest? And I don’t know about where you live, but I haven’t seen an ATM in about 10 years that lets you get anything other than 20s. Good luck trying to get singles and coins out of an ATM. Good luck depositing coins into an ATM. And Coinstar is a ripoff. Either pay for the fee of counting your coins for cash, or use it at a select group of vendors. At a bank, they’ll happily take your coinage, machine-count it, and give you bills.

To the persons who are tempted to think that nowaday you can use the internet etc, on some occasion it is best to do it at the bank counter and honestly, with all the profits that they are making, i dont buy in that “its to save environment yada yada” crap they are trying to serve us.

There are also other reasons that you need to go to the bank besides making a deposit or a withdrawl. There are moments that actually speaking to someone face to face is the best way to resolve a problem or get a question answered. You are correct that online banking handels 95% of all banking needs, but there are just times you need a service professional to handel things with you or push you in the right direction.
