I do have to say that while your spelling is correct, your usage is wrong. I am a junior in high school and a part time college student and somehow I still am disgusted with your attept to say anything correctly. If you were in Microsoft Office 2007 there would be a blue line indicating incorrect usage.

  15. Your Mom says:

  17. Tracy says:

    GRAPH WIN!

  18. David says:

First drafts are crap. If you still have spelling errors in something, it’s most likely not worth reading. Grammatical errors, on the other hand, are due to ignorance of the English language and occur when people try to use words they don’t understand. Do everyone a favor and only use words you know. Otherwise you deserve every bit of “flaming” you get.

  19. Sarah says:

    There not you’re average mispelers.

  20. Jenirv says:

Not a troll- notice the comments above each “color set” comment

  24. Benny says:

I write many erriors and make more mistypings myself but a lot of the atrocious things I see written on the internet come out of just plain ignorance. Text talk is ruining the ability of all too many to be able to write in an understandable manner. That said I got a snicker out of the graph.

  25. Ian` says:

  32. aerie says:

For me, the urge to correct others’ mistakes comes from a disturbing feeling that they are making our country even dumber than it already seems. Kids observe the world around them. Every time they see a store with a “clever” misspelling of a word, they become a little more disadvantaged. Stupidity is contagious, it starts at a very young age, and it’s passed from generation to generation.

People who defend the butchering of the language are diminishing the readability of their message and their own credibility. If you don’t care how your image comes across, then I don’t take you seriously, much less what you have to say.

Are you really defending the right to be ignorant? Really?

    • Veritas says:

That last line was a bit of a jump, now, wasn’t it?

Languages change. They always have been. They morph and become more efficient, and occasionally create strange idioms. There’s nothing wrong with that. There is a reason that “shop” is no longer spelled with an extra “pe” on the end: it’s not needed, and nobody cares (unless you’re a historical recreationist).

The only reason “LOLspeak” diminishes the user in the eyes of employers and people that care so much about it to post in the comments section of a lol-graph site is because they haven’t caught on yet. Generations die off, and once the older generations die off, so will their judgments of the younger generations for using silly acronyms.

Do I like the way language is changing at the moment? No, not really. I’m quite comfortable with my complete sentences and proper grammatical structuring. Does any of it really affect my life, in the end? No, it does not. My friends and family still communicate like me (aside from my sister), so there’s no need for me to change. I’m already used to it from years of interwebs exposure, so it’s not as if my eyes are burning. If I have to deal with it in the work place, well, I’ll deal.

P.S. It’s odd that you would fault someone so much for not caring about how others view them. In my book, that’s a strength. It’s unique to be content with one’s personality and not feel a need to give in to social pressures in the pharmaceutical age.

    • uncreative says:

DUDE, calm down its a simple spelling mistake. And he didn’t mean just being corrected, but trolls and flamers going all-out on him for it. You’re not getting the point of this graph.
