  1. This is pathetic says:

Avoiding the mad rush for the exit…

  2. fubuki says:

    Gaffer? Foley? Stuntman?

    • This is pathetic says:

Foley in medical terms = catheter.

      Head piss-collector in charge?

      • JerpHerp says:

“Foley” in film means the person that records custom sound effects in a studio. Say you can’t find a stock recording of somebody walking through gravel, a foley artist would record someone walking through gravel in timing with the footage. Foley = custom sound effects.

A gaffer is the head of the grips and works with the director of photography when it comes to lighting. He tells the grips how he wants everything set up, what equipment to use and where to put lights. The best boy grip translates this to the other grips.

        Stuntmen are obvious lol…

    • jackie31337 says:

“best boy grip” and “dolly grip” are some of my personal favorites.

      • JerpHerp says:

Lol a best boy grip supervises all the other grips on the set. Grips are essentially the brute force of the industry, they set up equipment, lights, build sets, etc.

A dolly is a piece of equipment we put the camera on, the camera then goes on the tracks for a nice smooth ride. Notice cameras no longer “zoom,” they dolly in or track. A dolly grip pushed the dolly around.

  3. KelliKat says:

This leaves out the most important reason… “Who WAS that guy/girl?!?”

    • Gaga says:

Or the even more important: Settling the debate that broke out after 10 minutes, if that guy there in the back, no that guy, with the sunglasses, is that Robert de Niro?!?

    • Andrew says:

or to see extra footage to make sure Samuel L. Jackson wasn’t in the movie

  4. StCyr says:

    I disagree.
I would say that the main reason for staying to watch credits is to catch extra footage, and the making fun of people’s names/jobs is just something fun to do to pass the time.

  5. Libby says:

Or in the case of Star Trek to skim through them (because they scroll to fast to read ALL of them) and sit in awe of how many accountants/producers it took to MAKE the movie.

    • DeathWyrmNexus says:

I try not to think about it.

      • Libby says:

I usually am a bit curious, but there were literally at least 3 places in the credits where they listed “accountant” and their assistants.
So we’re talking a minimum of 18 accountants for this movie.
Either they were crediting people who usually don’t get credit, or this movie cost more than your average fun time.

  6. John says:

What about to “listen to the music.” Sometimes the best music is at the end.

  7. dean says:

looking up what that one hot girl was called

  8. jose says:

What about to watch hidden scenes after credits like in X-men?

    • Pom Rania says:

That would be under “extra footage”.

I was watching the Wolverine movie with some friends, and I thought about how the Iron Man movie had something after it, so I said that I wanted to stay and watch until the end of the credits. I chose right.

      • Goldstubble says:

I wouldn’t have stayed if they payed me too.
That movie left a sour taste in my mouth and I didn’t care what one-liner stunt Jackman pulled at the end.

  9. Jessica says:

The biggest reason I watch the ending credits is to find out the name of a band/person who’s song is in the movie.

  10. HellHathNoFury says:

I remember watching a kids’ talking-animal movie, and there was actually a ‘animal leavings cleanup’. That’s NOT what I want to be known as…the crap collector.

  11. CandleJack says:

I’ve been staying behind to watch the credits since a decade ago, long before it became “fashionable” to do so because of the possibilities of post-credit-scenes. Though, because of this, I’ve yet to actually miss one, and I never tire of my friends freaking out because they rudely walked out during the credits and missed the extra stuff. I try to pay respect to the people who have helped make the movie I just enjoyed, so I attempt to read every name, which becomes really difficult with movies like The Matrix and Lord of The Rings, which have credits screaming by at the speed of sound for ten minutes straight.

It’s exercise for the eyeballs, damnit!

  12. Dan says:

Has no one watched Leslie nielson movies?

  13. fiona says:

No one has mentioned this one…
My Mum always stays to see how many countries it was filmed in.
Also, I agree with Jessica: to know the names of the songs in the movies.

  14. TwilightJim says:

Am I the only one who plays the Dave game?

  15. Bridgett says:

No no no. It’s to find out what songs played, and the bands that played them.

  16. Sean says:

From everyone in the movie industry to you-
    :(

  17. Darkury says:

    Switch red and orange.

  18. Lancer says:

They forgot “finding out if there were any characters played by the same person” and “remembering all the characters in the movie” that’s why I watch it sometimes.

  19. Theeny says:

Personally, I look for Jeffs. A friend of mine said a film can only be awesome if it has 3 Jeffs in the credits. Jeffrey and Geoff count as halves. Geoffrey can be counted if it was a brilliant film but you’ve only found 2.5 Jeffs.

    Gets tough in foreign films…

  20. h0 says:

My little sister and I always look for the “Negative Cutter,” because it sounds like the stupidest job ever. Like… that’s all you do? You cut negatives?

  21. YuriBot says:

hey buddy, i work in the movie industry. i stay to finish my pop-corn.

  22. Nini says:

I agree. But you left out “screaming at Leonard Nimoy’s name”.

  23. Kitty says:

    BEST BOY GRIP!

  24. Segaphile says:

I once saw someone with the last name “Titcomb.”

  25. Effie says:

    SO TRUE.

  26. paraguay says:

    to look for Kevin.

    I’ve found about 2 movies ever without a kevin…

  27. Anna says:

To get ideas for baby names – the most recent movie we were at (Star Trek) was surprisingly helpful in adding another one or two to the shortlists!

  28. thatonekid says:

orange comes more than red for me :(

  29. DP says:

Most important reason missing: Finding out the movie number (which they always show at the very end, bastards!) and breaking in uncontrolled spontaneous joy if finding out it is prime, product of large primes or has some other interesting property.

  30. Madeleen says:

You want to see who that hot girl/guy was in the supporting role

  31. lemons mcbob says:

i stay to see the bonus footage, but i regret doing that for “the hangover”. thats something you cant unsee!

  32. cc says:

xD ah-ah, red and orange, but mostly red… so true, me and my girls do that everytime.
I would also say, to hear the credits music;)

  33. Jake says:

I once seen an aisatain to the pop corn maker, LIKE WTF

  34. this is my username says:

    Haha, this IS true.

  35. sparrow says:

I get to be the person looking, and cheering, when I see my friends’ names.
Helps that I have only seen the films they make/star in the last year or so. I think the last Hollywood movie I saw was Gamer, good movie.

  36. JerpHerp says:

As a film student, you find equipment (with names actually used in the industry) like buttplugs, gary colemans, redhead and blonds, and c-47s.

    c-47s are clothespins.
