DeLorean has been my dream car since before “Back to the Future” was even a movie… The idea that it could fly through time if I hit 88 miles an hour just made it that much better.

Not true. See http://www.delorean.com. Most parts are still available to purchase & at decent prices. They’re reproducing parts also. Heck, you can even buy a newly build car from old stock components, reproduction components, & even includes the aftermarket stainless-steel frame.

Yep, I was looking at DeLoreans on Autotrader the other day. The closest one I found was over 500 miles away and it was $28,000. WTF.

HellHathNoFury – The DeLorean had gull-wing doors, not jack-knife (scissor doors). Also, gull-wing doors need less clearance to open than a regular car door.

Yeah, but the underlying subframe for the body is Fiberglass, and I’ve found out that the torsion springs for the doors are attached to that subframe, and can break and damage the roof panel. Despite that, and the slightly failed underpowered engine, I still want one soooo hard.

Actually, that’s stainless steel. That the reason I wanted one. Stainless Body, composite floor. It will never rust out. Just keep the rest properly maintained and it will last forever. Not like the car you buy today, disposable, gone as a pile of rust if you have winter where the city spread salt on the road to melt ice.

My stinkin neighbor has one. I asked him how he keeps it so shiny even outside in Washington weather. Did you know there’s no paint, it’s just steel? He can spray-paint anyhting on it and then buff it off, so it has a new cheesy theme every holiday or some stupid graffiti on it. Some people just don’t appreciate a time-travel machine.
