This is the graph of my last 4 months dealing with Dell…. glad to see I’m not the only one :(

I had the same problem. I was transferred all over the far east from “manager” to “manager” The laptop we got from Dell had four hard drives crash and they kept telling us to send it in to be fixed. It was down more than it was running. So finally I started asking for a new one. They refused even though it was less than a year. This is what I did: When you are on the phone with someone from, lets say India, wait until they give you their name and email you a confirmation of the call (which is what they used to do) that way you have the customer service reps ID and a name. If they want to transfer you or put you on hold one more time, call them by name, repeat their CS ID # and tell them that you have printed out all the emails and case #s that you have been assigned and that you will be sending the defective computer plus all the documentation from all of your calls to Michael Dell in Texas and that their name will be on the top of that box for Michael to see just as soon as he opens that box. Not only was I not transfered, but I had a new laptop in five days.

I also had an acquaintance who was stuck in Dell Hell for three months for hours every night. She mailed almost three hundred pages of emailed documentation from her Customer Service calls and Case #s to Michael Dell along with the computer and in three days she had all of her money refunded to her. Her original Dell Laptop (Same model as mine) was unfixable in four months from purchase. You don’t have to be nice to people in Dell Hell because they could care less about you. I will never buy from Dell again. Since then, I have spent close to 8000.00 at Apple. Never have a problem and just love it.

This is a repeat of a graph that was not very good in the first place.

  6. Andie says:

    But how would you know?

  7. Hesuchia says:

This goes for more than just Dell. I’ve never had a dell and yet been through this situation.

  8. catgirl says:

I’ve had so many problems with Dell. After one laptop broke for the fourth time in four years, I figured it would be cheaper to just buy a new computer (of a different brand) than to get it fixed again. I really think they are meant to be semi-disposable.

I sent my Inspiron 1420n in for repair three times. I got a fourth box, but decided to just suffer, since that was how it was going to go down anyways.

The just throw away that paper you send in and replace random parts.

  9. Syllable Nazi says:

So what company is Dells? I thought it was Dell, maybe an apostrophe next time since you know…it’s the English language symbol for a posessive.

  10. papajon says:

Is making a graph really helping you deal with your “Dell” anger? Yeah? Ok, have at it. I have had decent luck with Dell, btw…

  11. TiminBoston says:

Buy a Mac. If you ever do have a problem you can simply make an appointment with the Genius Bar and they will fix it for you live in person.

    It’s amazing.

    • Syllable Nazi says:

Or for the same money I could buy another computer and say screw it.

    • ethana2 says:

I bought an Ubuntu Dell. None of the Windows, None of the Apple tax.
…but yeah, still Dell support. The trick is to not need it. If you think a piece of hardware may have a problem, either get in-home repair or pick a different machine.

  12. sewinglady says:

hmmm….could this be why my husband NEVER recommends Dell?

  13. Bulbachu says:

Haha. I had one Dell and it fried within the 2nd month. The bag I bought with it, also Dell design, seemed to loose thread around the 3rd. Never could get intouch with the company.

Dell has cheap parts for a lot of $$$. Happy with HPs now. =)

You know, I think Graph Jam may eventually give 60 Minutes a run for the money in exposing questionable issues to the public.

  15. Brian says:

You know, you COULD buy Your Tech Team and not have to wait any longer than 2 minutes…

  16. CatFace says:

    Dude!! You’re gettin’ a Dell!!!!!! Oh snap……..
