If she does, they are “boyfriends”, not boyfriends. Through my childhood, many classmates I had at that age said they did, but it was just to attract attention. Looking back, it made them look like complete idiots. It seemed like they thought to themselves, “Hmm, who am I going to pretend to be interested in this year?” Or month. Or week. You get it. They don’t even get the point of dating. Or long-term relationships. It’s just like those interactive baby dolls. They want to do jump the gun as soon as possible. And boy do they. Disney Channel made a lot of money off of this, and still do. But, I give some credit to Disney, they now largely influence young people, and have some good intentions. But still, kids just want attention.

16 for me. And I’m 16. But my parents were, and still are, way overprotective of me! I’ve only ever had one GF, and I’m convinced they ran her out of the country… I’m scared to to show them any other girls I speak to since then. It’s a little strange.
But my point is parents DO have power over you, even when you’re 16, 18 or 102…

I like this and agree with the Disney sentiment. Now on to the comments: does the sole goal of dating around have to be finding Mr/Mrs Right? Too many people spend too much energy and postpone too much of their life trying to get married, worrying about being married, waiting to get married. Date to have fun, to hang out, to get out, and to try new things, and if the marriage thing happens down the road = great!

surprisingly enough, sexuality and dating are linked. whatever “dating” you do at young ages influences and is influenced by your natural and learned sexual preferences. it’s not fully developed, but neither is anything at that age.

so, no, it’s not directly about sex, but it’s all related.
