  1. Natan says:

    What about fruits?

  2. edancoll says:

Technically, you are right. If carrots were an invention, it’d be worth millions.

  3. Ali says:

I was going to say apples!

  4. Rob says:

I was going to say granola

  5. Duffy says:

    “Tasty.” You forgot “tasty”.

    • keshet says:

      Well that would exclude “healthy”.

      • cat says:

        tomato soup

i have a recipe that take 15 minutes including prep is about 100 caloriers a bowl and costs 31p (about 50c) a serving

and its so tasty i love it you. and could even turn it into a creamy soup by adding about 35g of creme fraiche and it would still be cheap- 42p (about 68c) and healthy – about 150 calories

      • Ravenclaw Borg says:

You’ve obviously missed all the comments mentioning fruit, veggies, and everything else in the world. Seriously, what is there that’s healthy and *not* delicious? Excluding cold medicine and mushrooms, that is.

  6. examancer says:

Apples and Carrots are both great snacks… but you shouldn’t eat them exclusively. There really is a need for an all-purpose cheap/healthy snack that one could eat pretty much exclusively and still get enough protein/vitamins/fiber/carbs/etc… and it needs to not taste like ass. THAT would be a million dollar invention.

  7. StCyr says:

Am i the only one thinking that a million-dollar invention doesn’t sound like it would be cheap?

    • SamTheGreat says:

I think the point is that if it *were* quick, cheap, and healthy… millions would be sold. Count me up there with the poster who said the missing premise is *taste*.

  8. moi says:

quick, cheap and easy= yes, the apple.

  9. Cora says:

Um, doesn’t anyone remember gorp? Good Old Raisins and Peanuts.

  10. penguin_man says:

roman takes 3 hours to make?

    • penguin_man says:

I know it’s not that healthy but it’s healthier and easier then McDonald’s.

    • varuna says:

Are you kidding?? Ramen is horrible for you, unless you add lots of vegetables and use about half of the seasoning packet. Also, good luck finding cheap ramen that does not have monosodium glutamate in it.

      • 3Davideo says:

What is wrong with MSG? It’s tasty!

      • StCyr says:

There’s nothing wrong with MSG, it’s just a big over-blown scare. Quit buying in to the media.

Ramen isn’t really good for you, but other than the sodium content, which you really only need to worry about if you have blood pressure issues, its major negative is that it has no real nutritional value. So it’s not necessarily terrible for you, but by no stretch of the imagination is it healthy.

        • LAgirl says:

Ramen is much higher in fat than spagetti, 30% fat is far over your desired average daily fat intake. Ramen is much more expensive than spagetti, do the math.

But it takes longer to cook. Solution: angel hair pasta.

    • Czernobog says:

      A person from Rome?

  11. Prozach says:

    Soylent Green!

  12. chuba says:

    Bananas!

  13. R says:

This doesn’t really work! There are tons of cheap and healthy snacks out there, like carrots, fresh snap peas, popcorn, etc. Those things are even easier than McDonald’s! Tastier too. McDonald’s is nasty stuff.

  14. DJ says:

    This graph fails

  15. glenda90621 says:

Not a fail at all! I’ll bet most people have a favorite easy/cheap/reasonably nutritious snack that they rely on.

  16. Anon says:

This graph is what I’ve been trying to explain to people for years. It is dead on. And it also is why I eat so much McDonalds.

  17. Kit says:

Apples with peanutbutter! And maybe some cheese… And club crackers… Better just stick with the apples and peanutbutter.

    • LAgirl says:

Oh yes. And ants on a log (celery with peanut butter and raisins).

Oprah was interviewing a Norwegian woman about food choices and was horrified – could see it on her face as she continued ever-polite – when the woman listed peanut butter as a food she would not feed her children. Oprah finally said, “Because it’s high in fat?” and the guest agreed.

      I’m such an American.

  18. Candystripe Legs says:

    Falafel pita. THERE.

  19. yasoup says:

Baked squash with breadcrumbs is good, red bell slices, grapes with cheese cubes…

  20. Jcrow says:

Tasty is definitely missing. Otherwise Rice Cakes would be a million dollar invention…

  21. Rob says:

Now we know why Chiquita is so rich.

  22. urbansuburbia says:

You mean ramen’s not healthy? :(

This discovery shall be mine; And I shall call it: FRUIT!

Not the most healthy snack, but healthier than McDonalds and candy!

i was thinking fruit salad, the ones u can buy at stores.

  27. 40Ringz says:

I like mangoes, those are healthy I guess.

  28. bluewolf482 says:

I actually do have to correct myself on this… In the middle, there should be sushi.

  29. csdx says:

    quick, cheap, easy, = prostitution?

  30. Tyler says:

Microwave Oatmeal! Alright, Where’s my million dollar check?

  31. Pip says:

What puzzles me is that the author thinks McDonald’s is really not expensive.

  32. Anna says:

They need to add a taste section. Seeing as there are many quick cheap healthy foods, but they taste nasty.

  33. Hue Mann says:

I love how mcdonalds is the oposite to healthy

  34. LAgirl says:

    Pickled herring and rye bread

  35. sarah says:
