that’s just the most ridiculous thing i’ve ever heard.

no..no wait i stand corrected. when waiting outside after a popcorn alarm made everyone evacuate the dining hall (it’s on the first floor of one of the dorms), i heard a girl next to me talking about “stupid freshman” who use the ‘popcorn’ button on microwaves. apparently everyone should know that popcorn buttons aren’t meant for popcorn. microwaves are too powerful for making popcorn =|
im not even kidding a little bit.

your alarm clock went off 11 times because of bacon? you must be very strict about when you have bacon. i dont see what that particularly has to do with fire alarms though.

id have to agree that at the dorms here (temple u), the alarms mostly go off because of people burning popcorn. actually..i think thats the ONLY reason ive heard of alarms going off /:

What about the hairspray (sadly only guys caught that on fire), Idiots pulling the handle, or the dumbass next door neighbor that catches their micro-fridge on fire by putting a CAN of soup in the damned thing?

Oh, and the random electrical fires….Though Bacon is a HUGE cause of the alarms going off at my school…or the 6th floor girls being stupid while cooking…

I’m in college and so there’s a couple good stories about fire alarms. This one time, it went off at three in the morning because of the particle detector. This guy’s roommate evidently had farted, so he sprayed the room with Axe so much that it set it off. It was pretty hilarious, after we got back inside from the twenty degree weather.
Another time it was burnt easy mac. Not so easy, after all?

Ironically it’s always been the ‘good’ floor that’s set it off, not the pot-smoking one. I guess they’re a bit more cautious..

During the summer I worked on a college campus and got free housing (so I lived in a dorm). My dorm had built in bunks, and I was on the top one. I had a day off work and so I decided to sleep in. Little did I know, that they were TESTING the fire alarms that morning! They didn’t give out any notice about it either. Being on the top bunk, the alarm was only a few feet from my head. Needless to say, I was very, very pissed.

Grilled Cheese Sandwitches! Hell, mine goes off if I steam clean my frying pan. I’m an old fart who has learned that smoke detectors are triggers by steam irons to close to the dang-blasted smoke decectors. any body else set theirs off with a steam iron?

Last september we had a freshman pop a bowl of Mac & Cheese in the microwave and return to her room to grab/do something. Next we knew, the floor was full of smoke, the alarm is going off, everyone is evacuating, and we learn that she forgot to add water to the bowl. Our whole dorm smelled for several days, and the firemen had a good laugh at her expense.
At least she laughs as she recounts the story.

Replace bacon with “That douchebag in room 303 who keeps lighting candles” and all six of our fire alarms (including the one at 12AM followed by the one at 2AM) are explained. Not even the smokers set it off, too clever in getting around the pot-hounds that are the RAs.

Best gem from my college days:

Someone cooking a corndog in ALUMINUM FOIL for 18 MINUTES at 3AM during DECEMBER EXAM WEEK and it was SNOWING. We almost formed a lynch mob.

And then when the heater in my dorm room caught on fire, the alarm didn’t go off because this smoke didn’t rise— it kinda billowed over and hit the ground like dry ice in a haunted house. The room smelled like smoke for the rest of the year.
