  1. Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle says:

I see what you did there. LOL

    • Mat says:

I can has cheez in the microwaves.

      • BOB the guy says:

This person dunno how make proper graph!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the x axis/bottom it should be the independant variable (for example, time) and on the y axis/vertical one it should be the dependant variable (for example cheeziness) Dependant variable is what changes depending on the independant variable!!!!!

  2. Dayin says:

*sigh* Independent values on the x axis. . .

    • Meh says:

*sigh* Whiny, nitpicking assholes like you.

      • janet says:

*sigh* It’s not nitpicking, it’s intelligence.

      • Joshua says:

No, Mr. Meh, with the axes set up like that, the graph shows an indeterminate amount of time existing at some time just past 15 seconds. Time then moves from 15 seconds and through 17.33 seconds. Time then stops just short of 19 seconds and remains there for an unknown amount of time.

Had the axes been done properly, the graph would have made perfect sense. This is not to say I cannot understand what is trying to be conveyed, but reading the graph exactly as it is, it makes no real sense.

        • Alex says:

          You proved his point.

        • Nulono says:

No, at 15sec it shoots from solid to perfectly melted, then stays perfectly melted for a few sec, then shoots to scalding goo at 19 sec.

          Just tilt your head.

          • tutor says:

            that’s correct, sir. good point.

            • solanum 2ber0sum says:

tilting your head doesn’t work either!!! if you do that, the line needs to be inverted. the graph still doesn’t make sense. here’s how it should be

        • Paz says:

There you are thinking you’re all smart when actually Mr. Fail you just proved his point that they’re are nitpiking assholes on here.

          Well done.

          • BB says:

If you want to put it in context, then the implication of the graph is that meltingng cheese CAUSES time to progress in a non-linear fashion.

This sounds like a rather wonderful spaghetti-monster type hypothesis that I would love to explore further, but I suspect the rather more prosaic answer is that time progressing (in a linear or non-linear fashion) causes cheese to melt.

          • Reverend Loki says:

When you say “they’re are”, you are actually saying “they are are”, as “they’re” is of course a contraction of “they are”. I imagine you instead meant to say “there are”, using a homonym of “they’re”, to say that “there exist nitpicking a-holes on this board”.

            /…

          • Joshua says:

It’s nitpickers that make the world go ’round, so I’m fine with that. You think the computer you’re typing on or the internet connection you use would function without the nitpickers behind it? Guess again.

            • Alex says:

Nitpicking is needed in a lot of areas.

Humorous graphs arent one of them.

            • Meh says:

There’s somewhat of a difference between nitpicking and being thorough. Being thorough is a good quality, especially if one works in a field that requires exact precision and attention to detail. Nitpicking is often used insultingly, when someone tries to be overly thorough in trivial situations where it REALLY, REALLY ISN’T NEEDED. Jeez, do you try to point out logical impossibilities in cartoons, too?

              • Frankie Muniz says:

But graphjam is for a smart audience, and thus its graphs should be properly made.

And anyway, Wall-E was filled with logical impossibilities, and I pointed them all out until my gf told me to shut up :P

                • Meh says:

Congratulations, sir. I am honored on this day of march 1st, 2009 to deem you a complete and utter lifeless joysuck, for prominent achievement in supreme douchebaggery. now, come up here and get your “freaking medal”!

                • Petrograd says:

                  I remember watching independence day.

You know that scene where the president’s wife is in her bed, dying, and talking?

My dad chuckled throughout the scene because it doesn’t work like that in reality.

We told him to shut up too.

          • pants says:

            Fixed:
There you are, thinking you’re all smart when you (Mr. Fail) actually just proved his point that there are nitpicking assholes on here.
            Well done.

            You’re welcome, by the way.

    • Shakleton says:

Just what I thought when I saw the graph. Friggin independent values on the friggin x-axis.

  3. rro says:

    axis fail

  4. ethana2 says:

Good subject matter, poor graph formation.

  5. BG says:

    Try again.

  6. obladi says:

    lol
    making sense fail.

    • Poop says:

haha, ya at 15 seconds it’s both solid and melted…

      • Michael says:

Yep, for some reason cheese can exist in multiple states at the same point of time. Any straight horizontal or vertical lines on this type of graph doesn’t make sense.

  7. deathbal101 says:

    nope. not funny.

  8. Bob the Mailman says:

Way to fail at basic graph conventions, bud

  9. Nwabby says:

Wait…. I don’t think that graph expresses what you want to.

  10. lipilee says:

…and this is the time when this feed gets out of my rss feeder.

  11. InfinityCubed says:

    Time travel with chz!

  12. papajon says:

Oh sure it would have been funnier with inverted axis but c’mon, its way better than many of the graphs here. Ain’t it? Well, you get points for creativity from me anyway. So there!

  13. Ben says:

I do not think this graph means what you think it means.

  14. Nulono says:

FAIL. At 15 seconds it shoots from solid to perfectly melted, then stays perfectly melted for a few seconds, then shoots to scalding goo at 19 seconds.

    • Some random person says:

It’s supposed to do that. Therein lies the joke. :P

    • Fizzix says:

      FAIL. That was the point.

      • tutor says:

that was not the point. the author wanted to convey that the cheese goes from solid to scalding goo in a very short time, being perfectly melted for just an instant. but what the graph says is that the cheese is perfectly melted for 4 full seconds, from 15s to 19s.

  15. Nulono says:

Rearrange the axes to convention and the qraph goes up, right, up.

  16. Czernobog says:

Also, keep the lolspeak where it belongs.

  17. Mao says:

    Engrish.

    Wtf.

Spell “cheese” and stop pluralizing words that should be singular.

THIS IS NOT NO STINKIN LOLCATS.

  18. Volcanic Fondue says:

If you wanted to use proper grammar and spelling, it should be called “Cheese in the Microwave,” not “cheez in microwaves.”

Also, the x axis should probably be labeled 15, 17, 19, with one of those jagged lines at the bottom to show the skip from 0 to 15. . . .

If I made a mistake in my correction of the graph’s numbers, please don’t beat me up. I’m not an algebra/geometry wizard. XD

Still, this makes sense. It’s true that it takes about half a second for cheese to change from lukewarm solid to volcanic fondue. :D

  19. Dfrtbx says:

I had to tilt my head a little to get this one…

  20. NachoCat says:

Considering dis graph made by kitteh who luvs cheez, pretty gud akshually! Kitteh not get to go to skool to take the fizicks classez.

Bunch of hooman nitpickers need to get a life!

  21. Yosh says:

I see what you tried to do there, but the axes should be switched.

  22. JorickHorn says:

Good concept, but time needs to be on the x-axis, and meltiness on the y. Keep the line exactly as it is, and the graph works.

  23. point says:

to summarize all the previous comments
    good idea, terrible math

  24. dogbert says:

    FAIL.

maybe next time they won’t sleep through elementary math

  25. Nulono says:

    Failblog ho!

  26. Anonymous says:

You forgot the thirty second mark, when said cheese solidifies and becomes distinctly unappetizing. Folks, that is BEYOND scalding, haha.

  27. K-Gel says:

    This graph is backwards.

  28. CottlestonPie says:

I wonder if any of the nitpickers took into consideration the fact that if you put the axis in the “right” place, the cheeZ wouldn’t dribble down the chart the way it does…

  29. Hey guys… its a f*in CHEEZE graph. This isn’t high order statistics. Not like you need a TI-89 to realize its supposed to be funny. You nerds STRAIGHT KILLED IT.

  30. Jenny says:

this would be really funny if it were formatted correctly.

  31. solanum 2ber0sum says:

    for all of you that think the smart people on here are being nitpicking a-holes;
All we are trying to do is to take advantage of this mistake to impart knowledge on one or more people about how to construct a proper graph. This will give the world one more person who knows how to make graphs and improving life, however slightly, for all.

  32. Madame Cupcake says:

It’s conversations like these that make me realize that 90% of the world is retarded.. And have no abstact reasoning skills. *sigh*

  33. K. Signal Eingang says:

Delivery is an important part of humor. You know those guys who try to tell a joke but forget half the setup or get the punchline completely backwards? This graph.

Yeah, you may get the joke they were trying to tell, but it still constitutes fail.

  34. chucky C. says:

what’s cheez? Is it some kind of new cheese?
