WHY? Why must people say that they’re first when it’s obvious that they are first? Do they think that being first is some kind of fantastic accomplishment? If so, here’s something even more challenging: GETTING OUT OF THE ****ING BASEMENT AND GETTING A SOCIAL LIFE! That’s all. =D
I was also a nerd until senior year when I already had a job lined up so grades didn’t matter as long as I passed to get my degree. The teachers call it senioritis.
It’s actually kinda easy. Try it. Go to class and memorize everything they say. Turn in only rough drafts. Have fun the rest of the time. Get plenty of sleep. Not hard at all, unless you are an english major who has to read three books a week.
Finally, a Chart that describes my life perfectly!!!
I am definitely in the Nerd category. Normally I go to bed before 10 o’clock, but it is now 11:01 PM and I cannot sleep because the people in the dorm room next to me choose to be in the pink area (I cannot imagine they fall into either of the other categories, though… perhaps if there was a “Constantly Inebriated” circle…)
I want to kill them. I really, REALLY do.
I live off campus… Really, it’s worth it. Peace and quiet is a hundred times more important than the convenience of living close to your classes. Having my own little dumpy apartment has saved my sanity.
wow the differences between irish and(pardon my presumption) north american colleges are weird……
we have no on-campus accomodation at my college but its still hard getting sleep sometimes because most of the students live in the apartment buildings/housing estates in the surrounding area. That and five of my six housemates fail to understand that not all of us want to have parties at 2.30am……..
from what i understand of it, “college” refers to something similar to high school in European English, but “college” in american is usually used synonymously with “university” (there are differences between “college” and “university”, but not much, and no one cares, they just use “college” when they mean “university” because Americans are lazy and don’t want to pronounce any more syllables than necessary.)
Personally I’d redo this graph as a statistics triangle to graph myself and the people I know. Say each vertex has a maximum of 5 units and you can distribute 10. Mine would have 3 into social, 3 into grades and 4 into sleep.
as an aside i’m in sixth form and they say we should do an extra 20 hours studying a week on top of all the work they give us, they also say we should have a part time job for experrience, but of course they don’t want us not to have a social life, at first i thought “but there isn’t 20 spare hours in a week unless you count weekends and the point of weekends is not to work, and even so there wouldn’t be enough time to do those other thongs” however after several weeks i came to the conclusion that i shouldn’t sleep, however i didn’t think it was a very good idea and now i find myslef laking in all three areas
Apparently I’m defying the laws of physics then, 8-9 hours of sleep a night, with a 32 hour a week job, with A’s and B’s, and Thursday nights and Saturday nights are my days away from it all.
No, nerds are smart, geeks are not. A geek can be with anything, nerds are specifically ‘smarter’. But I suppose this all depends on where you grew up. Where I’m at, the nerds are the smart ones.
Guess I’m the exception. I got plenty of sleep, worked part time, had a social life and got first class honours. I found the trick to be don’t bother attending most lectures, they were largely useless. So I slept through morning lectures, worked through afternoon ones, then worked or went out in the evenings.
Yay for living in Australia and having a completely different, superior tertiary education system where most students don’t have to pay or leave home, and the ‘frat boys’ are just douchebags who usually drop out of high school.
I’m a bit of each, so I don’t fall into any one category, and yet I don’t defy physics.
~5-6 hours sleep, B-range grades, and watching TV shows with friends every other night.
Well if you’re a theoretical physics person you can defy the laws of physics because most of your work involves sitting all day and thinking about stuff, and maybe writing some of it down.
I deffy the laws of physics, Its amazing, but one little slip in scheduling and I instantly fall into the zombie category, until I re-establish my organization.
I’ll be writing about my college experiences from over 30 years ago in today’s post, so this was great timing for me to get some inspiration. lots of thanks..
This is so freakin true! I’m both a nerd and a zombie depending on the day. I can never ever manage to do all three although most ppl down here at WFU can do it all. They really are superhumans.
i need sleep otherwise the whole college suffers.have a social life during the day/when i have money/when the hot guy doesn’t get the bus home.get ok grades….not that hard really……….
there an ingenius music lyric from ‘im no superman’ that also fits perfectly: ” you’ve crossed the finish line..won the race but lost your mind.. was it worth it after all?”
lol.
and first
WHY? Why must people say that they’re first when it’s obvious that they are first? Do they think that being first is some kind of fantastic accomplishment? If so, here’s something even more challenging: GETTING OUT OF THE ****ING BASEMENT AND GETTING A SOCIAL LIFE! That’s all. =D
lol, well said
that would defy the laws of physics
Yeah this is true. Though student priorities dictate that sleep is the least important… I fall in under zombie lol
I fall under that large portion called “Sleep”
As do I, my friend.
Whatever helps you sleep at night, nerd.
That’s actually a motto at my college “Sleep, Social life, Grades: Pick any two.”
thanx TF i am going to copy that and paste it directly into facebook feed.
So true! I was a zombie!
Nerd here.
Very good graph. Two thumbs up.
I was also a nerd until senior year when I already had a job lined up so grades didn’t matter as long as I passed to get my degree. The teachers call it senioritis.
wasn’t this here like, last month?
(damn search box is useless)
It was, but this is a much better version.
i think I was not even on this graph few years ago…
Another way of defying laws of physics
I have two majors and a minor…I also seem to balance all three so…I defy the laws of physics! woot!
liar
It’s actually kinda easy. Try it. Go to class and memorize everything they say. Turn in only rough drafts. Have fun the rest of the time. Get plenty of sleep. Not hard at all, unless you are an english major who has to read three books a week.
yep…. totally a zombie
Hmm, I had no sleep or social life. But do zombies really represent a good social life? mmm, braaaaains.
Haha, I’m with you… I just have good grades o.O *slept between 9 am and 4 pm to”night”*
According to this graph..
I’m currently a Nerd. O_o
Although I don’t tend to go to bed at a reasonable hour..
I too was a nerd, but when nerds get together, they seem to evolve into zombies. Or just plain sleep deprived nerds. Either way.
-The sheer defiance to the laws of physics that his mere existence causes, Tesh is no longer subject to them.-
Uh….
-Floats around, immune to gravity.-
Help?
Finally, a properly constructed Venn Diagram! Excellent job. It’s funny because it’s true.
best graph ever!!!! summarises 5 years of college perfectly
Hmm, what is laws of physics have to do with any of it?
Everything…
The same thing as the laws of proper grammar do.
Nerds FTW!
Finally, a Chart that describes my life perfectly!!!

WILLOW PARK ATHLONE FTW!!!!!

i defy the laws of physics… suckas!!!
yay good time management skills
I’d say nerd
kudos~_~
I like this one!
According to this, Im a zombie. …..which really, is how I feel most the time.
Awsome! Another slacker in the sea of zombie nerds!
Personally I’d redo this graph as a statistics triangle to graph myself and the people I know. Say each vertex has a maximum of 5 units and you can distribute 10. Mine would have 3 into social, 3 into grades and 4 into sleep.
your’e taking this way to seriously
as an aside i’m in sixth form and they say we should do an extra 20 hours studying a week on top of all the work they give us, they also say we should have a part time job for experrience, but of course they don’t want us not to have a social life, at first i thought “but there isn’t 20 spare hours in a week unless you count weekends and the point of weekends is not to work, and even so there wouldn’t be enough time to do those other thongs” however after several weeks i came to the conclusion that i shouldn’t sleep, however i didn’t think it was a very good idea and now i find myslef laking in all three areas
I fall under “sleep”
Now I will go fall asleep.
I move back and forth between ‘zombie’ and ‘nerd’, occasionally passing through ‘defies laws of physics’ on the way.
Mostly I fit ‘nerd’ best though.
Apparently I’m defying the laws of physics then, 8-9 hours of sleep a night, with a 32 hour a week job, with A’s and B’s, and Thursday nights and Saturday nights are my days away from it all.
I do all three, but that’s probably because I’m a Philosophy major. Most of my work consists of me going “hmmm…”
Not just “hmmmmm”,
but also “Ooooommmmmmmmmm”
(sits in lotus position!).
Oh how simple the world would be if they offered good paying jobs to people who majored in philosophy. I could finally get paid to rant!
I fall outside the graph entirely. FML
A venn diagram that works in correctly in all it’s sectors!
Pat your self on the back, Akintudne! Well deserved!
This was a well thought out, funny graph that is true to the demands of college life. good work
this is an absolute perfect rendering. kudos to the maxx.
Add in the 4th variable- food.
5th, job
Yaay for defying the laws of physics.
No, nerds are smart, geeks are not. A geek can be with anything, nerds are specifically ‘smarter’. But I suppose this all depends on where you grew up. Where I’m at, the nerds are the smart ones.
WIN – This is so true. I fall heavily into the nerd category.
Guess I’m the exception. I got plenty of sleep, worked part time, had a social life and got first class honours. I found the trick to be don’t bother attending most lectures, they were largely useless. So I slept through morning lectures, worked through afternoon ones, then worked or went out in the evenings.
Yeah, I’m kind of bitter that I didn’t choose a major that a monkey could make it through.
college sux… ‘.’
I guess that means I defy the laws of physics.. lol
HAHAHA. saved to harddrive
Would fit under Nerd according to the graph, but I would consider myself an Asocial Slacker not having to try too hard to get good grades.
Same.
Yay for living in Australia and having a completely different, superior tertiary education system where most students don’t have to pay or leave home, and the ‘frat boys’ are just douchebags who usually drop out of high school.
XD Soo true. And it applies to high school life too – especially junior year!
<–Offended!
I’m a bit of each, so I don’t fall into any one category, and yet I don’t defy physics.
~5-6 hours sleep, B-range grades, and watching TV shows with friends every other night.
Physics student… who apparently defies physics. Damn, better go tell my professors so I can rewrite all my textbooks.
FAIL.
Move the circles further apart so that there is no center intersection.
I’ll be writing about my college experiences from over 30 years ago in today’s post, so this was great timing for me to get some inspiration. Thanks.
Well if you’re a theoretical physics person you can defy the laws of physics because most of your work involves sitting all day and thinking about stuff, and maybe writing some of it down.
Add work to the mix
I deffy the laws of physics, Its amazing, but one little slip in scheduling and I instantly fall into the zombie category, until I re-establish my organization.
this is an absolute perfect rendering. kudos to the maxx.

Man, I struggle for mid-70s to mid-80s. It’s always a relief to get a B. I’m in the ‘nerd’ category but still manage to only have “okay” grades.
thanks for the goodpost.
I defy the laws of physics, but i’m not in college yet. a few yeerz tho………………
~Miles “Tails” Prower~ (Miles Per-hour)
Also applies to middle school life in all years.
~Miles Prower~
Physics is phun. Pøkémøn fan
~MilesPrower~
FURST COMMANT BICHEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
thanks for the goodpost… good luck.
Zombie nerd FTW…
This is so freakin true! I’m both a nerd and a zombie depending on the day. I can never ever manage to do all three although most ppl down here at WFU can do it all. They really are superhumans.
Haha… I fall into the Defying Physics category
happily.
I am hoping to be in the Nerd category… but I am such a slow, meticulous worker that I will probably have great grades, but no sleep OR social life.
sometimes i’m a nerd. Other days I defy physics!
but i sure sleep a lot!
The center should say “Defines” not “Defies”
No, I’m pretty sure he meant “defies”.
im a zombie ….awesome!!!
i need sleep otherwise the whole college suffers.have a social life during the day/when i have money/when the hot guy doesn’t get the bus home.get ok grades….not that hard really……….
I tend to shift back and forth between nerd and zombie
I defy the laws. I sleep, have good grades and slack off with a social life….Yet I’m still online….
I sleep for about 6-8 hours a day, I get A’s and B’s, and i have a medium social life. but I’m not in college. what does that make me?
not in collage
i defy the law of physics
there an ingenius music lyric from ‘im no superman’ that also fits perfectly: ” you’ve crossed the finish line..won the race but lost your mind.. was it worth it after all?”
Hmm… I’ll be going to college this fall… I pick the nerd area. Other people suck.
you stupid cow, u dont even understand the graph, do us a favor and keep ur illogical comments to yourself!
*walks on the bottom of the desk*
I defy the laws of physics
Now to defy the laws of gravity.
