  1. Firefalcon says:

    First?

  2. BrotherLove says:

Shouldn’t this be a Venn diagram in order to include Rastafarian college students?

    • RS says:

Venn diagrams don’t indicate quantity, so no.

      • Nick R. Bocker says:

They indicate relative quantity, much like this pie chart, only a Venn Diagram would account for people who fall into both categories. But not enough categories, imo… what about homeless people? Athletes? Entertainers?

  3. emily says:

How about the percentage of people who actually know what “Rastafarian” means.

  4. Aaron K says:

  9. someguy says:

OR the fact that Dreadlocks arnt solely linked to marijuana use, and infact alot of dreadlocked people do not even smoke marijuana.

Or the fact that the Jamacians were not the creators of the hairstyle, but more of a bringer into mainstream American ignornce

  10. RiderLeangle says:

Have you noticed everyone on your list are known for using weed?

  13. Ex Rasta :3 says:

Well, dreadlocks aren’t related to the RasTafarIan religion, it is the religion that is related to dreadlocks.

  14. DragonKat says:

This graph is like saying pixie cuts are only for the butch. Hairstyles have multiple origins…especially one that just requires no hair maintenance…

  15. L says:

And where are the goths? xD

  16. Blah says:

what about my friend who just has ringlets that she turned into dreads because its easier?

  17. Brett says:

  21. Moonclaw says:

ill tell you that my sister has dreadlocks and she does NOT smoke pot. how do i know? im her TWIN so im in the same school and we go everywhere together so stop dissing people with dreds! also how do you know anything about these people??

  22. Har says:

Or the simple fact that practitioners call themselves Rastifari not Rastafarians. Besides, real Rasta dreadlocks are done totally different than college-student dreads. One is a hairstyle that has appropriated by a sub-culture the other is a religious practice that is a sign of devotion and subservience to the will of God (or Jah, if you prefer). It is an interesting religion if you look into it and the practice of all-natural dreadlocks is interesting.

The same practice is found in some Hindu sadhu orders and Sufi fakir orders. Related is Sikhism and its practice of uncut and wrapped hair. Buddhist monks and nuns often shave their heads while some Catholic orders are given tonsures. Hair has a lot of connotations religiously even in the West where we denigrate these practices. Instead we now grant hair only the application of being part of our visual identity and a matter of grave concern for our careers and social lives.

The peculiarities around hair are limitless, the world over. Someone should make a professional study of it. Nerds like me would read it.

    Anyway…

    -Har

  23. Haruhi Suzumiya says:

    RASTA STYLE > EMO STYLE

RED, YELLOW AND GREEN > BLACK

  24. Alex says:

    you forgot predators!

  25. AndrooUK says:

Are people really so retarded that they are offended by a witty pie chart, or are they just looking for something to do whilst masturbating over comment threads?

  26. Blobserne says:

This is just plain stupid… This chart makes it sound like the Rasta and reggae movement invented dreadlocks… And that is as far away from the truth as it gets. Dreadlocks can be traced all the way back to 2500 bc.
