"P.S.: For the sake of your own self-preservation, do not attempt to label other people as mentally inferior while sounding like a dimwitted buffoon."

"No, you’re the stupid one."

Hmm.
Before you try to claim that you're immune to your own criticism because you don't "sound like a dimwitted buffoon"... that's not really the case. Throwing your weight around as an 'intellectual' on a site like this one when your only credentials are long words and a snarky attitude doesn't impress anyone but yourself, and in fact makes it look like you're overcompensating.

As for your evaluation of the graph, it's only half-correct. It makes no _logical_ sense, but as "any dullard" should know, logical isn't the only kind of sense. With just a little bit of imagination, the meaning becomes clear. The one on the left is the pessimistic because it comes up from below, representing the 'low'-ness of the half-empty estimation. The optimistic graphing on the right, of course, is the opposite. It doesn't stand up to a literal reading at all, but it does stand up to one with imagination and, dare I expect one, a sense of humour.

True, Nash. I could spend all day discussing little tidbits I happen to know and it wouldn't mean anything for at least two reasons. One, I could be pulling it all off Google. Two, I'd be attempting to prove knowledge, not intellect. So what can I do to prove myself? Well, I could point out the logical errors committed in the graph above, but apparently the stupid people are too busy laughing half way through the joke to realize that the punchline doesn't actually make sense even when it has been explained to them. I suppose it would be easier to just point to my artwork, but why bother? This has already turned into a flame war so I don't expect anything but biased negative over-exaggerated criticism. I'd rather not waste my time with that. So what else is there?

I submit that the people who understand that the joke doesn't make sense are smarter than those that do think it makes sense. Period. If you still find it funny, fine. Maybe you're not an "idiot". But you can't tell me it wouldn't have been funnier if it had been a functional graph (while still "breaking the rules").

Your 100% certainty is 100% wrong. I applaud it for breaking the rules, hence the "+10 points" for creativity. But the graph would be even funnier if it made sense. That's what would have made it genius. To break the rules is one thing, but to break the rules and still maintain functionality is genius.

Notice I didn't call the person who made the graph an idiot. No need to. That person had a great idea but failed in executing that idea. That's not a big deal. But to have someone explain to you the mistake that was made and still believe the graph works... That's stupidity.

Also, to Sakulati:

You think I don't have an inkling of humor? Based on what? A couple posts I made about a joke? Since when was humor required in a post-joke analysis? That's like saying everyone on SportsCenter is weak because they don't tackle each other during a post-game analysis. I'd wager a large sum of money that I am funnier than you and I'd be willing to test that in front of an indifferent audience. Sure, you could say the same thing and it really doesn't mean anything since this is the internet, but know inside--- deep down inside--- the funniest people in the world are some of the most intelligent, and I'd add to my wager that they wouldn't find this graph funny either.

Keeskind, it was a noble attempt. Better luck next time.

Can somebody please explain to me how going from 50-100 is supposed to signify half-empty? To me, that signifies that the water in my glass is hovering in the air! This graph just doesn't make sense, end of story. I understand what the submitter was trying to say, I just don't think that what they did successfully conveys that meaning. And it would seem I'm not the only one out there...

+10 points for creativity, -10 points for execution. You have to be an idiot to this this is funny. An intelligent person requires that the graph be functional in order to be funny. Idiots- and there are plenty here- really don't seem to understand that the graph doesn't describe the "half full/ half empty" saying at all.

Bur hey, if you're an idiot, I'm sure you don't care because your standards for humor aren't as high. I know your type.

And on the point of grammar, no one is being a grammar Nazi. Studies show that your laziness actually causes the reader (especially those who know grammar well) to inadvertently feel as though he made the error himself. It's a subconscious hiccup in the mind and it is justification for a complaint of frustration and annoyance.

You're stupid and it isn't your fault. We know that. You don't have to tell us. But please... Don't try to compete with us on an intellectual level. It seems like a simple request, doesn't it?

If the bars went from 0-50 in both cases the glass would - to both optimists and pessimists - appear half full. This negates the point of the 'half full/half empty' adage.
What the graph-maker has done (whether creatively or humourously is arbitrary) is to represent that in a visual format. What you have done is chosen to willfully misunderstand that, thereby denying yourself any chance to find even the smallest glimmer of humour from it.

GraphJam doesn't lend itself to pedantry. Move along folks - move along.
