FIRST.
Yep, now that ive done it, I can confirm its just plain idiocy.
Spread the word! Tell the trolls!
good idea poor execution
why?
No, I agree. This was the first graph I made on here, so I kept screwing up. Every time I finished it, I would accidentally delete it. Eventually I got just so fed up that I threw this last one together without any real care if it looked good or not, and of course *this* is the one that would work. So I sent it in, and I hadn’t actually expected it to make it. So, well, *shrug*.
This is the funniest pie chart EVER! THE BEST! It is a great explanation of the variances in form of the origin of movie ideas, and it is color coordinated with differents sizes representing the different percentages.
The humor is in the scarcity of humor. It is like a humor nihilistic poem in pie chart form.
Ah… so less humor is more humor? Awesome! I must be hilarious then! Sweet!
one troll to another…
quit nicking my style
Ah, the mood just struck me. A once a month thing for me, at most. Please, feel free to troll with little to no competition. Treat me like that upstart that can only rarely hit the mark.
Well that applies to me too, as that’s basically my form response for the awful series of charts on this site of late!
I suppose we could work in shifts.
I think that the “original” section is far too large.
No, the “original” section is far too small. Remember, original doesn’t just mean good. I’m almost certain that “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” wasn’t based on a book or TV show, and the same thing goes for hundreds of other god awful pieces of crap released every year. This chart is definitely the way it feels, but given the choice between good (or at least watchable) sequels and remakes versus original garbage, I choose the former.
bingo
this.
The Godfather is based on a book isn’t it? That’s a pretty good movie
There are also sequels. But no remake.
dollars to donuts? isn’t that just called a transaction?
I bought a donut and the guy gave me a receipt. I do not need a reciept for a donut. I give you the money. You give me the donut. End of transaction. We do not need to bring ink and paper into this.
Awesome reference. lol
Hahah, hahah, hah… No. Wait.
So true. I can’t believe they are remaking Footloose, with ZAC EFRON no less! Kevin Bacon is way more awesome. Grrr.
The “remake” section on this needs to be much much larger like close to half these days otherwise pretty good.
Don’t bash “based on something else,” many excelent movies are based on true stories.
I think he was talking about stuff like SNL skits.
SNL skits would be “From a TV Show” would they not?
Relax, I never said that remakes, sequels, and based on books were *bad*, I was just saying that they’re EVERYWHERE.
I mean, look at Sweeney Todd. Good movie. Based on a book. Look at Dark Knight! Based on a freaking comic book, after a million other Batman movies. But that was an *awesome* movie.
Not saying that the movies are *bad*. Just saying that they’re *everywhere*.
Well, Sweeney Todd was actually based on reality, so…
Did you know that “based on a true story” means parts of this story are true, except for the rest that we made up to make it more interesting?
What’s sad is I stood in the lobby of my local theater not too long ago with some friends and pointed out that everything from Hollywood nowadays is a remake, sequel, reboot or adaptation. I started with the banner on the far left of the lobby and said, “Look. Remake. Sequel. Remake. Reboot. Sequel. . .” Then I got to the far left of the lobby where there was a banner for Quantum of Solace. “Oh, look!” I said. “A sequel of a reboot of an adaptation. How original.”
Left off “videogame” and the ever popular “crappy 50s trading card set.”
Amen, I’m particularly dreading the upcoming anime movies like live action Dragonball and Blood:The Last Vampire.
Why is Keanu Reeves going to be Spike in Cowboy Bebop?
I’m missing the humor in this graph. Yawn.
I want to laugh, but it certainly feels true enough that it kind makes me want to cry, also.
You forgot to add the “Americanized Version of a Foreign Film” section, if you’re referring to American cinema.
“Subtitles? You mean I have to READ the whole movie?!”
I love movies based on a book.
But I’d love them a whole lot more if they were actually good representations of the book.
I agree with that 100%!
