Basic set theory – dictionary words that rhyme with noodle are a proper subset of the words Dr.Seuss uses to rhyme with noodle, as opposed to the intersection of the two aforementioned sets being the empty set. I’m afraid you’re mistaken. Dr. Seuss does NOT think that the words according to the dictionary don’t rhyme with noodle. His circle is bigger because he thinks those words rhyme with noodle as well as those he invented. Please grasp the concept of a Venn diagram before posting.

No, madame, you are incorrect. As a venn diagram, this concept fails. Unless the segments were overlapping a different way. Dr. Seuss used made up words all the time, so he does not encompass the dictionary. I could see it if it went : Dictionary+Drunk guy, and the overlap = Dr. Seuss. But in it’s current form, this graph is inaccurate.

Unless of course he was refering to words that are actually in the dictionary as opposed to the made up ones in the other two groups. But that would be reading into this graph way too much.

Wrong. The dictionary does not tell you what words rhyme with what, only how to spell them, their part of speech, pronunciation, origin, and definition.
