  1. Brainz says:

    Number one :]

  2. Anonymous says:

Umm….I’m pretty sure that an obsessive-compulsive person could probably not handle washing their hands an odd number of times…19 is sooo close to 20, which is nice and round and even.

    • Jupiter says:

I’m obsessive compulsive and I prefer odd numbers, especially primes. It’s different for everyone.

      • Anonymous says:

Oh, didn’t know that….probably because I get all my information about OCD from Monk….

        • Jupiter says:

Hehe, I also don’t have it nearly as severely as he does. I love that show. There’s an episode where he meets another obsessive compulsive person and they end up fighting over which one is ‘right’.

          • LazySpoon says:

I too am a bit OCD but I prefer 2′s, 4′s & 8′s which actually stemmed from my love for electronic music. Everything had to be done like that because my mind was stuck in DJ mode.

Though I’ve worked through some of my OCD ticks, I still have little rituals I go through sometimes, especially with hygiene, that revolve around it.

            • Emily says:

I actually find this a bit offensive. I have near-severe diagnosed OCD, and I don’t wash my hands that much. I wash my hands whenever anyone else does: After cooking, before cooking, before dinner, and after playing with something dirty, like a muddy dog, or a garden. I’m more obsessive than compulsive, but I’m still severe, and this offends me.

              • kebb says:

I also have severe diagnosed OCD, and at times I did wash my hands that much, maybe even more (and I like odd numbers too!). I thought this was hilariously funny. Although, some people with OCD have worked in fast food, so maybe not 100% accurate…

              • Thud says:

                “near-severe diagnosed OCD”
I’m pretty sure you’re just making that up.

Plus; if you are offended at something you found on the internet, you should pretty much just give up at this point.

                • Jupiter says:

It actually makes perfect sense: Emily does not have severe OCD, but it is close, and she was diagnosed with it. Therefore: near-severe diagnosed OCD. It could have been stated better, but it still has the same meaning.

I do agree that there it is silly to be offended by something on the internet. I’m also not a compulsive hand washer, but I have a number of other compulsions, and I still found the graph funny.

However, it could just be the fact that it is ’19′ that makes me giggle. (a cookie to anyone who gets the reference).

                  • Thud says:

I’ve been in the service industry my whole life, an I have quite a few “things” that get to me, though I hate it. I’m a bartender now, and I like things to be stacked just so.. even the glasses that go in the dishwashing tray go in an order.. but to be honest, it’s efficient. I like all the same types of glasses to go next to each other so I can grab them all at once and put them where they need to go. Other bartenders give me crap for it, but I’m also a lot faster than them. That’s why I was put on the busiest nights at the bar I work at. I fast and efficient.. even if a little anal. :P

Ok, so maybe I’m OCD. I even wash my hands a lot.. (would you want something different from someone serving you something?) but am I gunna cry about something I saw on a humor site?

                    • I'm a pac-man geek. I'm a grammar nazi. I'm a "first" troll. Any questions? says:

I love the comments… They are more hilarious than the graph!

              • lynd says:

OMG GET THE HELL OVER IT

          • Anonymous says:

Yea, it’s definitely one of my favorite shows…and episodes!

      • Blah says:

I’m the same way: primes, and numbers that divide by three. and unfortunately, i think i was the only person at the fast food jobs I”ve worked at that regularly washed their hands.

    • nitrokitty says:

I would have made it higher, but the graph builder only goes up to 19.

    • toastygod says:

Yeah I have pretty severe OCD and this made me laugh. I do the odd numbers too. Can’t risk hitting a six, even inadvertently. While 13′s are also bad, there’s only one so it’s easier to avoid than 6′s and 18′s, which are my kryptonite. And now that’s I’ve typed them I have to go perform several rituals that will garner the confused, and perhaps a bit frightened, glances of my co-workers. Way to go GraphJams!

    • Athanar says:

I just have to be in multiples of 5 that aren’t also multiples of other odd prime numbers unless they’re multiples of 10. (15 is bad, 20 is good, 25 is good, 30 is good, 35 is bad, 40 is good, 155 is bad, etc.)

Also, I have Tourette’s Syndrome, but that comes with a lot of OCD symptoms. (They’re caused by the TS.) The main thing that sets them apart is the twitches I used to have. (Especially in my head.)

  3. Anon says:

    Haven’t we had this one before… ?

  4. Hell Hath No Fury says:

I must say I was taking my daughter to Jack in the box to use the restroom, and an employee had stunk it up in an unladylike way, and then walked out without flushing or washing her hands, but managed to apply lipgloss with her bare fingers. I tried to discreetly tell the manager when we came out, and when they called her up, SHE WAS THE MANAGER! omgwtfkfcbbq I’m sooo glad we were on our way to dinner somewhere else…

    • katillac says:

Is there a ladylike way to stink up a bathroom? Millions of inquiring minds wish to know!

      • Hell Hath No Fury says:

I menat in an ungodly way, like she was possessed by the demons of her past meals at indian resturaunts. I wondered after I left if my breath would smell funny after being in there, because I know my clothes did.

  5. a mom says:

you forgot “moms” they’d probably be higher than obsessive compulsives…or at least pretty close.

  6. McDsForASummer says:

Hi. I, um, worked three months at a McDonalds’. And my experience we should be right up there with the ocd. Our manager would scream at us if we didn’t wash our hands once per hour or more. Plus, anyone handling the food in the back was required to wear gloves and change those every few minutes too. -And- all the cloths we cleaned everything with were dipped in boiling water with sanitizer in it.

    So this graph fails.

    • Czernobog says:

Well, at least it isn’t working a McDonald’s.

There’s fail and then there’s Fail.

    • Hell Hath No Fury says:

I worked fast food for almost a year, and I was constantly washing my hands. To the point where they were chpped, and no, you’re not supposed to use lotion either. I wasn’t usually washing because the things I was touching were not sanitized properly, it was because my coworkers smoked and then handled everything, many used the restrooms and didn’t wash thier hands, or went straight from handling the mop or dumping the trash to passing out food. not all of ‘us’ were flithy, but I was shocked at people I thought I knew as clean, tidy and respectful of themselves and others. *shudders*

      • Ex-McD Employee says:

I also worked at a McDonald’s. I was the person who handled precooked and cooked meat. I was the only person who could be said to wash his/her hands more than twice an hour. And I was FAR in the lead. I must say, however, that most of the people did wear gloves and sanitized their hands/gloves regularly. This graph is not incorrect. It is exaggerated. It is funny.

I have not eaten at a McDonald’s in 8 months.

        • crash says:

i love reading stuff like the previous comment. seriously? that’s disgusting. i’m a manager at a mcdonald’s. i wash my hands about every ten minutes, and twice after using the bathroom. i’m not constantly yelling at my crew to wash their hands. they do it on their own. yes, i watch them just to be sure. we wear gloves in the grill area, as well as hairnets.
don’t be afraid to call the health department on your own workplace.

  7. Turk says:

    So that’d make me a surgeon. :/

    Wait, does Purell count?

  8. stormoftara says:

I am a manager at Taco Bell, and if my employees don’t wash their hands I get really pissed. EVERYONE MUST WASH HANDS! I don’t care if you just washed your hands in the bathroom, you touched the DOOR! Who knows who else touched that door. Of course I am a bit OCD too, but I can’t stand people not washing their hands, I mean that’s people’s food they are touching.

  9. MissLace says:

So what explains all the COLD WATER ONLY in fast food chain restaurant bathrooms?
Could the lack of HOT WATER be because there is NO NEED TO WASH?
***** ***** Shouldn’t there be a law about providing HOT WATER (and cold water) for washing up in bath rooms in order to promote HYGIENE? ***** *****

  10. Alex says:

You forgot obcessive-compulsive surgeons, i.e. Michael J. Fox in his Scrubs cameo.

  11. Kookaburra says:

Ha ha, I’m not obsessive compulsive, but I wash my hands more than 20x a day. But then I work in healthcare and my second job involves handling money. Ewwwww.

  12. Ferdbags says:

You realise “Everyone Else” would include Fast Food employees if you position it as the second to last column? The only way it wouldn’t is if you position it as the last column.

Also, has anyone noticed that these graphs are almost constantly trying to represent home-truths as opposed to humorous statements?

  13. gabbo says:

    You forgot something:

    Adrian Monk = 45

  14. Thud says:

Obviously made by someone who’s never worked in the service industry in their entire life. :P

  15. Points Out The Obvious says:

I was once an obsessive-compulsive dunkin donuts employee. I couldn’t take the contradiction and quit within a week.

  16. Dutchie says:

hahaha it’s actually true for the fastfood restaurant i work at….

it’s actually usually so busy we don’t get the time :\ unless of course, i’m at the ice cream machine and spill caramel all over my hands, as always.

  17. warriorsrock89 says:

lol I’m obsessive compulsive *washes hands*

  18. buttercup says:

what if you’re an obsessive compulsive fast food employee such as myself? I work at mcdonalds and I have to wash my hands constantly because they get so greasy or nasty… and oh thank baby jesus for that hand sanitizer dispenser!

  19. Eedyrb says:

I, like buttercup ^, am an obsessive compulsive hand washer, but also work at mcdonalds. My hands constantly get greasy and salty and covered in strawberry topping or the like, and i cant stand it. I wash my hands atleast 30 times in an 8 hour shift.
