I remember playing the first Tony Pro Skater (The inferior N64 version, sadly) a few months ago, and finally beating it. I loved every second of it, except, of course, the 10-second music loops. But it’s still as awesome as it was 10 years ago.

I think you mean GameCube games. N64 games are in cartridges, not CDs. If the Wii at least offered some screen filter options so I could make the games look better than on the original consoles, that might tempt me to buy a Wii. Otherwise, I figure it’s better to just get the original consoles, or maybe use the PC emulators (which usually do offer screen filters)

Sorry distracted there,

Where are the cartridges for the NES or the SNES supposed to fit into the Wii.
The Wii will take the old N64 games (CD) alright but thats it, the rest are via Emulation and need to be purchased again.

I’ve recently downloaded old DOS games like the Monkey Island series, and also found my old copy of Douglas Adams’ Starship Titanic! I forgot Terry Jones and John Cleese did voicework in that ^_^

You can play all the old nintendo systems cartridges on the Wii. It will go all the way back to the NES cartridges if you still have the cartridges. I adore the Zelda games. You can’t get better than that, oh yes and the Kings quest games. I am an old time gamer. I have played games since the Atari, Intelivision, NES and on and on. I have now purchased a Wii just so I can still play my old games.

I fully agree with this graph, as I recently started playing pokemon: Blue Version from the beginning. You know what would be cool? Pokemon: Rainbow. or Pokemon: Time Capsule. It would be a collection of all the pokemon games since Red and Blue, and you’d be able to store some pokemon from each era in a Time Capsule in order to collect-em-all in a final game similar to the modern ones. You could form a pokemon team with the pikachu from yellow version, some legendaries from gold/silver, and the latest eevee evolution from diamond/pearl.

I’D play that game, especially if it allowed you to save pokedex prints as image files to a computer, since I doubt Nintendo will ever make a new GameBoy Printer.

I come back to games every two years or so. Games that follow this trend: Super Mario RPG, FF IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X, Grand Theft Auto, Sonic 2 & 3, Mario 64, Vectorman … etc.

I totally agree. There’s still some question about whether downloading emulator ROMs is really legal, but if I had some peripherals that I could plug SNES cartridges, C64 diskettes, etc. into and play them on my PC screen, I’m pretty sure that’d be legal, right?

I just wish game companies, Windows, and Apple would make it easier to play old games on their systems. Why isn’t there some kind of old-game compatibility movement beyond emulators yet?
