  1. MNM says:

    Lots of popcorn :P
    Small bag times 10 :D :D

  2. Nobody says:

FIRST!To totally agree with that :(

  3. Adam says:

It is such a scam!! Small, medium and large popcorns are almost the same price, which is overpriced to begin with!

  4. muviz says:

    ii like poppykorn

  5. faetal says:

    It’s backwards:
Whilst I agree with the implication that its small children who attend the movies, and that the small popcorns are abundant…
PRICE of the tickets still outweigh price of the popcorn, making the cost of the ticket still the higher division of funds.

    • kittehsFTW says:

i must’ve failed. where was the implication that its about small children?

although the last time i went, the ticket was 6.50 and to get popcorn and a drink: 12 bucks. they weren’t larges either.

  6. CW says:

Oh my god! Movie theaters are expensive to run, so they charge more than most other places for popcorn! How come no one has ever pointed this out for comedic effect before now?

    • RS says:

And movie theater popcorn is soooo good.

Graph maker: does your local theater have $200 bags of small popcorn? Or perhaps $0.50 tickets? If it’s the latter, tell me where you live ’cause I’m moving there.

  7. kraas says:

Very obvious, but very true and it gets annoying. 7/10

  8. Ryan says:

Their food tastes bad and is expensive. Your food tastes good and is cheap. The guy with the night-vision goggles is looking for camcorders, not delicious meals. Smuggle food into theaters.

  9. Elanor says:

The thing you all have to realize is that out of your $8 movie ticket, the theatre gets *nothing*.

So, even though the small bag of popcorn costs them 25c + the $2 or so to the worker who made it, dumped it out, and put it in the bag for you, they still don’t make as much of a killing as you are implying.

    • Melody says:

Don’t forget the $4.50 for a small soda and $2.50 for a small box of chocolate covered whatever, and the $3.50 for a bottle of water. Concessions, by and large, ARE their “cash cow.” They make about 90 cents from every dollar spent on popcorn.

You are also forgetting that theaters also make a profit off the commercials you are forced to watch before the movie starts (no, not the trailers). Some theaters make even more money by showing a slide show before the movie begins that advertises local businesses.

And actually, they DO make a profit on the tickets they sell. It is usually a 50-50 split with the studios, but that profit is eaten up theater expenses such as employees pay, cups, napkins, etc.

  10. Shredster7 says:

the fact that the pink blends in with the orange makes it look even smaller… now, what would the price of popcorn be at tha 2012 Olympics?

  11. BK says:

It could also be the other way around… or worse, 50/50
