When *I* was a kid, if I didnt eat what my mother made, then I didnt eat at all. When I have kids someday, its gunna be the same way in my house.

@__@ I clearly recall sitting at the table and thinking: “My grandmothers casserole is awful”. But smiled and nursing one tiny plate all evening at which point of us leaving my Mother graciously got me a taco on the way home.

When it came to at home meals it was a “Eat it or go make a hot dog yourself” kinda thing.

My sisters opinions on the food did reflect on mine..on the topic of your boys conspiracy xD
If she didn’t like it, I didn’t like it.

Glad I’m among a group of people who did this too… I learned quickly that the secret is to mix something you dont like with something you do.
any sort of legume benefits from being mixed into your mashed potatos… also the art of condiment masking. Dont like meatloaf? Add more ketchup!

a, they go hungry
b, they learn to cook
c, they tie you to a chair and feed you their idea of a good meal(Ramen & Toast with jello shots for desert)
d, they get a job and go out for pizza

Oh I didn’t say they didn’t EAT it, I said they didn’t LIKE it. They eat it, but I usually don’t fix it again unless that boy is not home.
I too remember sitting at the table until all my food was gone.
Chewing on tough meat or trying to make lima beans or brussel sprouts palatable.
There are enough things that everyone likes that I won’t cook things that everyone doesn’t like.
I didn’t want my kids to have the same bad memories.

My house too. I have many a memory of sitting at the table, staring at a plate of food I didn’t like long after my siblings had gone to bed and then going to bed hungry if I didn’t eat it.

Only one of my boys will like the food I prepare. The other one decides that he doesn’t like it. Then the next time I introduce something new, the first boy doesn’t like it and the second boy likes it. I used to accuse them of agreeing on this plan ahead of time.
