The “Men pretending to be girls” kinda seems out of place. The other reasons are why people play games and then the last is what they do on the game.

One of my other friends who plays with me however only plays male characters. And her reasoning is “So those losers will leave me alone so I can play!”.

Lol, this is soooo true. If you see a woman running around naked, almost naked, or stopping to flirt in any way, she is a man… probably a man with a bag of Cheetos on his belly.

What games do you play? I rarely have that happen. I the most that happens with me is I tend to think the little kids with their squeaky voices are girls until I see “Male” in their profile. Then I LOL for like 20 minutes.
OMG Get over it. Stop making excuses for why girls kick your ass. Just get over it. It’s not some guy who really wants to be a girl. They wouldn’t be playing a hard core game.

The people who say “there are no girls on the internet, if you’re a girl you’re actually a guy” are just ticked off because a girl kicked their asses. Probably some kind of stupid male pride thing.
Um… no… I think this in in reference to the guys who accidentally flirted with or have been perverted to “girls” and felt like J@ck@sses later (for all the wrong reasons).
There are tons of guys all around playing girls… none of them have ever complained about my (a real girl) awesomeness.
I however, have had to complain more than enough to guys about creeping my out for being complete perverts.
It depends on the game. MMORPG’s have more trans-gender players than say, an FPS. It’s a very rare person who plays a FPS and claims to be a girl when their not. In an MMORPG however, it’s anyones guess.
you forgot people playing for competitions who play 8-12 hrs a day every day while you are at your job making a living
You forgot the guys looking for girl friends.
Which is primary reason the guys who plays as females exsist in the first place.
(Its a common fact that guys looking for girlfriends are quick to give away items.)

“pretending”? no. see, most people who hit on female characters don’t bother to ask if the person playing is actually female.
why i play female characters:
because i get the best view. my camera is almost always centered on her. AND most female are, in my opinion, more creative and interesting.
You threw in the creative and interesting part just to avoid looking like a sexist pig didn’t you. Yes you did, don’t lie. Though I do agree with you that it’s pathetic to hit on a girl in a game… seriously. You meet women on dating sites and real life, not WOW.
yeah…the easiest way to have this not happen is to play good games. as in NOT MMORPGs. If you want to chat go to a chat room. They’re lots cheaper.
MMORPG’s aren’t bad games. A large amount of people actually play them and enjoy them. However, if they still play them and DON’T enjoy them, well, thats their issue…
But yes, it is slightly strange that guys have girl characters. People think thats relatively normal, but when a girl makes a guy character, she’s weird. Funny how that works. What if I wanted to stare at pixilated abs and tight butts too?!
I think a venn diagram would have been better. I highly overlap in “for fun” and “play as girl”.
You forgot men/women playing because they became addicted to the game and girlfriend/boyfriend and husband /or wife have left them.
why don’t you guys analyse this a bit more, i don’t think it’s quite over-analysed enough
