you can start an axis at whatever number you want and it’s still right, and this ones more correct then most ’cause it has equal amounts of numbers inbetween each place on the scale = COMMENT FAIL!

Why a stacked bar chart? Those are almost never the most appropriate way to view trend data. Usually you would want to use dotplots connected by lines that vary by color per stratum. Please see Cleveland and other data visualization books.

No, pie charts are never appropriate, they basically transform the coordinate system into polar coordinates, while humans are far superior at detecting things on a linear scale.

Dotplots are usually better than barcharts though. Please see books by Tukey, Cleveland, etc.

It is true that you can start an axis at any number but you must remember that all points on the graph MUST be equivalent distances … 2-4-8-10 good… 3-6-8-12 bad.

if you are starting a graph at a much larger space than your increments will be… please put two slashes in the line… then axis = WIN
