Very amusing this graph I find!
Yoda speaks like that because he’s obviously found a better way of speaking. I mean, look, the important things come first, no?
Deceptively intelligent, this way of speaking is.
Technically, Yoda speaks perfectly fine – it’s just OSV syntax. Perfectly acceptable english.
Well, it’s not strictly OSV, nor is it really consistent. But what matters is that we can understand him. And those of us who can’t understand his word order probably would be too dense to understand what he’s really saying anyway.

Actually Yoda speaks in chiasmus. It is proper sentence structure, it’s just not the most common way to form a sentence. Eat that, grammar nazis.

Any STAR WARS fan would know that Yoda translated his language into ours so he could learn it and that’s how it was translated so that’s how he learned it.
ex. “When 900 years old you reach, look as good you will not.”(Episode 6: Return Of The Jedi) Whereas we would say “You will not look as good when you reach 900 years old.”
