I think this chart is statistically true. Why do stores have sales? out of the goodness of their hearts? no, it’s because they need to get rid of the old crap to make room for new crap. Crap gets old when ALMOST everyone has it, and 1% of stock is left. therefore, 99% of stock is sold at regular price, making the buyers people who bought the item at full price, and only 1% of buyers buy the item at the sale price. So really, an item goes on sale after you buys it (most of the time)

An even less known fact: the same thing applies to most plane tickets. If the price drops between the time you book and the time you travel, you’re entitled to the difference. You have to call the airline and pester them to get it, though.

Just keep your receipt, most places will refund the difference if you bought the item 7-14 days prior to it going on sale!
