I don’t think it’s so much that Monty Python is wearing out, as that
_specific_ jokes are wearing out.

The Spanish Inq. is one of them. Monty did a lot more than just that joke, though.

Just like Gilbert and Sullivan wrote other songs than ‘Modern Major General’.

To John F. Yes, your explanation of how you WANTED to submit it was the crux of the joke . . . and yes, I miss the best weapon: the COMFY CHAIR.
A lot of folks don’t get the pythons because they didn’t experience it when it was brand new — cutting edge humor. So much of what is funny today (THIRTY !! 30 !!) years later is derivative.

Keep up the good work — maybe I’ll have a go at a submission, myself!

im not saying they arent funny (yes i know double negative but its needed here), its just that it loses its novelty when people talk about it nonstop thinking they are cool for being the “only” person that knows about something (when they definatly arent) and a large percent of the graphs on here are about either of them.

My original submission was actually a series of five charts that that mirrored the progression of the sketch. The first chart was titled “NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is:” with a pie chart showing surprise and fear.

That was then superseded and overlayed with another chart labeled “Our Two Weapons are” with surprise, fear, and ruthless efficiency in a pie. Etc, etc.

Alas, only one of the five charts could be accepted apparently, and I don’t think it’s quite as funny stripped from its context.
