… Toy Story 2… but I suppose that went to theater first.
But then there is always Dreamworks, plowing the sequel field with Shrek 1, 2, and 3… and my god, I didn’t need 3 Shreks! I was happy with just one!
…and then theres the land before time. only the first one was in theaters. the rest went straight to video. there are 13 movies and 2 sing-alongs. completely ridiculous and unnecessary.
The Land Before Time 19: Still Not Dead
The Land Before Time 28: Nope, Not Dead Yet
The Land Before Time 33: It’s Kind of Chilly Now
The Land Before Time 41: Sweet, We Made It!
The Land Before Time 112: Are Those People?
Agreed that Disney animated sequels are just plain bad, but the Land Before Time fiasco is Universal, not Disney. They got it right with the first one, but should have stopped there.
Actually, the interesting thing is that Toy Story II was supposed to be direct to video, but Pixar didn’t want to do something crappy. If they were going to do it, it would be done correctly.
The chart is ENTIRELY wrong. The first Disney animated sequel was The Rescuers Down Under, which was released in 1990, and its poor box office showing *inspired* the “direct-to-video” phenomenon.
The chart would have been funnier if it was accurate, too. No buildup, Just a giant spike in the 1990′s.
Just ask Stitch of how his ‘career’ sounded like… once…
> L&S 2 (Stitch Has a Glitch) – An emoptional comeback, but a forgotten gem
>Stitch! The Movie – I spent a year on the box office for this?!
> Leroy & Stitch – Hmm, maybe, but what HAPPENED TO NANI!?!?!?
Still, looks like he’s hitting the pickle jar and drinking from it all over again… trying to drink in the face of a future FAIL every now and again.
And that’s just the anime franchise, ladies and gentlemen.
Too true.
And inversely proportional to the quality of said films.
It’s sad… I’m just glad they don’t force Pixar to do the same thing.

We did not need Lion King 2, or 1 1/2, we did not need Little Mermaid 2, We certainly did not need Cinderella 3
Totally. Booooooo, Disney.
Hey, Lion King 2 was cool.
Lion King 1 1/2 was freakin’ hilarious. Don’t deny.

Every time I see another Land Before Time movie, I think, “When is it gonna be TIME, for heaven’s sake?”

Joolz, you are made of win.

Actually…Disney shut down their sequel department last year. That graph is incomplete.
Isn’t Toy Story 3 going to be in theaters though?
Yep

Guess who was right?

Blarg.
CRY SOME MORE.
I just wonder what Walt would say if he were still alive. It is such a disgrace.
Aladin 4, Jafar may need glasses
